1In jenen Tagen, als wiederum eine große Volksmenge da war und nichts zu essen hatte, rief er seine Jünger herzu und spricht zu ihnen:
2Ich bin innerlich bewegt über die Volksmenge, denn schon drei Tage weilen sie bei mir und haben nichts zu essen;
3und wenn ich sie nach Hause entlassen, ohne daß sie gegessen haben, so werden sie auf dem Wege verschmachten; denn etliche von ihnen sind von ferne gekommen.
4Und seine Jünger antworteten ihm: Woher wird jemand diese hier in der Einöde mit Brot sättigen können?
5Und er fragte sie: Wie viele Brote habt ihr? Sie aber sagten: Sieben.
6Und er gebot der Volksmenge, sich auf der Erde zu lagern. Und er nahm die sieben Brote, dankte und brach sie und gab sie den Jüngern, auf daß sie vorlegten; und sie legten der Volksmenge vor.
7Und sie hatten einige kleine Fische; und als er sie gesegnet hatte, hieß er auch diese vorlegen.
8Sie aßen aber und wurden gesättigt; und sie hoben auf, was an Brocken übrigblieb, sieben Körbe voll.
9Es waren aber [derer, welche gegessen hatten], bei viertausend; und er entließ sie.
10Und alsbald stieg er mit seinen Jüngern in das Schiff und kam in die Gegenden von Dalmanutha.
11Und die Pharisäer kamen heraus und fingen an, mit ihm zu streiten, indem sie, um ihn zu versuchen, ein Zeichen vom Himmel von ihm begehrten.
12Und in seinem Geiste tief seufzend, spricht er: Was begehrt dieses Geschlecht ein Zeichen? Wahrlich, ich sage euch: Wenn diesem Geschlecht ein Zeichen gegeben werden wird!
13Und er ließ sie, stieg wieder in das Schiff und fuhr an das jenseitige Ufer.
14Und sie vergaßen Brote mitzunehmen, und hatten nichts bei sich auf dem Schiffe als nur ein Brot.
15Und er gebot ihnen und sprach: Sehet zu, hütet euch vor dem Sauerteig der Pharisäer und dem Sauerteig des Herodes.
16Und sie überlegten miteinander [und sprachen]: Weil wir keine Brote haben.
17Und als Jesus es erkannte, spricht er zu ihnen: Was überleget ihr, weil ihr keine Brote habt? Begreifet ihr noch nicht und verstehet auch nicht? Habt ihr euer Herz [noch] verhärtet?
18Augen habt ihr und sehet nicht? Und Ohren habt ihr und höret nicht? Und erinnert ihr euch nicht?
19Als ich die fünf Brote unter die fünftausend brach, wie viele Handkörbe voll Brocken hobet ihr auf? Sie sagen zu ihm: Zwölf.
20Als aber die sieben unter die viertausend, wie viele Körbe, mit Brocken gefüllt, hobet ihr auf? Sie aber sagten: Sieben.
21Und er sprach zu ihnen: Wie, verstehet ihr [noch] nicht?
22Und er kommt nach Bethsaida; und sie bringen ihm einen Blinden und bitten ihn, daß er ihn anrühre.
23Und er faßte den Blinden bei der Hand und führte ihn aus dem Dorfe hinaus; und als er in seine Augen gespützt hatte, legte er ihm die Hände auf und fragte ihn, ob er etwas sehe.
24Und aufblickend sprach er: Ich sehe die Menschen, denn ich gewahre solche, die wie Bäume umherwandeln.
25Dann legte er wiederum die Hände auf seine Augen, und er sah deutlich, und er war wiederhergestellt und sah alles klar.
26Und er schickte ihn nach seinem Hause und sprach: Geh nicht in das Dorf, [sage es auch niemand im Dorfe].
27Und Jesus ging hinaus und seine Jünger in die Dörfer von Cäsarea Philippi. Und auf dem Wege fragte er seine Jünger und sprach zu ihnen: Wer sagen die Menschen, daß ich sei?
28Sie aber antworteten ihm und sagten: Johannes der Täufer; und andere: Elias; andere aber: einer der Propheten.
29Und er fragte sie: Ihr aber, wer saget ihr, daß ich sei? Petrus aber antwortete und spricht zu ihm: Du bist der Christus.
30Und er bedrohte sie, daß sie niemand von ihm sagen sollten.
31Und er fing an, sie zu lehren, daß der Sohn des Menschen vieles leiden und verworfen werden müsse von den Ältesten und Hohenpriestern und Schriftgelehrten, und daß er getötet werden und nach drei Tagen auferstehen müsse.
32Und er redete das Wort öffentlich. Und Petrus nahm ihn zu sich und fing an ihn zu strafen.
33Er aber wandte sich um, und als er seine Jünger sah, strafte er den Petrus und sagte: Geh hinter mich, Satan! Denn du sinnst nicht auf das, was Gottes, sondern auf das was der Menschen ist.
34Und als er die Volksmenge samt seinen Jüngern herzugerufen hatte, sprach er zu ihnen: Wer irgend mir nachkommen will, verleugne sich selbst und nehme sein Kreuz auf und folge mir nach.
35Denn wer irgend sein Leben erretten will, wird es verlieren; wer aber irgend sein Leben verliert um meinet-und des Evangeliums willen, wird es erretten.
36Denn was wird es einem Menschen nützen, wenn er die ganze Welt gewönne und seine Seele einbüßte?
37Denn was wird ein Mensch als Lösegeld geben für seine Seele?
38Denn wer irgend sich meiner und meiner Worte schämt unter diesem ehebrecherischen und sündigen Geschlecht, dessen wird sich auch der Sohn des Menschen schämen, wenn er kommen wird in der Herrlichkeit seines Vaters mit den heiligen Engeln.

1EN aquellos días, como hubo gran gentío, y no tenían qué comer, Jesús llamó á sus discípulos, y les dijo:
2Tengo compasión de la multitud, porque ya hace tres días que están conmigo, y no tienen qué comer:
3Y si los enviare en ayunas á sus casas, desmayarán en el camino; porque algunos de ellos han venido de lejos.
4Y sus discípulos le respondieron: ¿De dónde podrá alguien hartar á estos de pan aquí en el desierto?
5Y les preguntó: ¿Cuántos panes tenéis? Y ellos dijeron: Siete.
6Entonces mandó á la multitud que se recostase en tierra; y tomando los siete panes, habiendo dado gracias, partió, y dió á sus discípulos que los pusiesen delante: y los pusieron delante á la multitud.
7Tenían también unos pocos pececillos: y los bendijo, y mandó que también los pusiesen delante.
8Y comieron, y se hartaron: y levantaron de los pedazos que habían sobrado, siete espuertas.
9Y eran los que comieron, como cuatro mil: y los despidió.
10Y luego entrando en el barco con sus discípulos, vino á las partes de Dalmanutha.
11Y vinieron los Fariseos, y comenzaron á altercar con él, pidiéndole señal del cielo, tentándole.
12Y gimiendo en su espíritu, dice: ¿Por qué pide señal esta generación? De cierto os digo que no se dará señal á esta generación.
13Y dejándolos, volvió á entrar en el barco, y se fué de la otra parte.
14Y se habían olvidado de tomar pan, y no tenían sino un pan consigo en el barco.
15Y les mandó, diciendo: Mirad, guardaos de la levadura de los Fariseos, y de la levadura de Herodes.
16Y altercaban los unos con los otros diciendo: Pan no tenemos.
17Y como Jesús lo entendió, les dice: ¿Qué altercáis, porque no tenéis pan? ¿no consideráis ni entendéis? ¿aun tenéis endurecido vuestro corazón?
18¿Teniendo ojos no veis, y teniendo oídos no oís? ¿y no os acordáis?
19Cuando partí los cinco panes entre cinco mil, ¿cuántas espuertas llenas de los pedazos alzasteis? Y ellos dijeron: Doce.
20Y cuando los siete panes entre cuatro mil, ¿cuántas espuertas llenas de los pedazos alzasteis? Y ellos dijeron: Siete.
21Y les dijo: ¿Cómo aun no entendéis?
22Y vino á Bethsaida; y le traen un ciego, y le ruegan que le tocase.
23Entonces, tomando la mano del ciego, le sacó fuera de la aldea; y escupiendo en sus ojos, y poniéndole las manos encima, le preguntó si veía algo.
24Y él mirando, dijo: Veo los hombres, pues veo que andan como árboles.
25Luego le puso otra vez las manos sobre sus ojos, y le hizo que mirase; y fué restablecido, y vió de lejos y claramente á todos.
26Y envióle á su casa, diciendo: No entres en la aldea, ni lo digas á nadie en la aldea.
27Y salió Jesús y sus discípulos por las aldeas de Cesarea de Filipo. Y en el camino preguntó á sus discípulos, diciéndoles: ¿Quién dicen los hombres que soy yo?
28Y ellos respondieron: Juan Bautista; y otros, Elías; y otros, Alguno de los profetas.
29Entonces él les dice: Y vosotros, ¿quién decís que soy yo? Y respondiendo Pedro, le dice: Tú eres el Cristo.
30Y les apercibió que no hablasen de él á ninguno.
31Y comenzó á enseñarles, que convenía que el Hijo del hombre padeciese mucho, y ser reprobado de los ancianos, y de los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y de los escribas, y ser muerto, y resucitar después de tres días.
32Y claramente decía esta palabra. Entonces Pedro le tomó, y le comenzó á reprender.
33Y él, volviéndose y mirando á sus discípulos, riñó á Pedro, diciendo: Apártate de mí, Satanás; porque no sabes las cosas que son de Dios, sino las que son de los hombres.
34Y llamando á la gente con sus discípulos, les dijo: Cualquiera que quisiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese á sí mismo, y tome su cruz, y sígame.
35Porque el que quisiere salvar su vida, la perderá; y el que perdiere su vida por causa de mí y del evangelio, la salvará.
36Porque ¿qué aprovechará al hombre, si granjeare todo el mundo, y pierde su alma?
37¿O qué recompensa dará el hombre por su alma?
38Porque el que se avergonzare de mí y de mis palabras en esta generación adulterina y pecadora, el Hijo del hombre se avergonzará también de él, cuando vendrá en la gloria de su Padre con los santos ángeles.

1In those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him, and saith unto them,
2I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:
3And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.
4And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?
5And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.
6And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people.
7And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them.
8So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.
9And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away.
10And straightway he entered into a ship with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.
11And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.
12And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.
13And he left them, and entering into the ship again departed to the other side.
14Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf.
15And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.
16And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.
17And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?
18Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?
19When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.
20And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.
21And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?
22And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.
23And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.
24And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.
25After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.
26And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.
27And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Cæsarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?
28And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.
29And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.
30And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.
31And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
32And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.
33But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.
34And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
35For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.
36For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
37Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
38Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

1In those days, when there was a very great multitude, and they had nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples to himself and said to them,
2“I have compassion on the multitude, because they have stayed with me now three days and have nothing to eat.
3If I send them away fasting to their home, they will faint on the way, for some of them have come a long way.”
4His disciples answered him, “From where could one satisfy these people with bread here in a deserted place?”
5He asked them, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven.”
6He commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground, and he took the seven loaves. Having given thanks, he broke them and gave them to his disciples to serve, and they served the multitude.
7They also had a few small fish. Having blessed them, he said to serve these also.
8They ate and were filled. They took up seven baskets of broken pieces that were left over.
9Those who had eaten were about four thousand. Then he sent them away.
10Immediately he entered into the boat with his disciples and came into the region of Dalmanutha.
11The Pharisees came out and began to question him, seeking from him a sign from heaven and testing him.
12He sighed deeply in his spirit and said, “Why does this generation seek a sign? Most certainly I tell you, no sign will be given to this generation.”
13He left them, and again entering into the boat, departed to the other side.
14They forgot to take bread; and they didn’t have more than one loaf in the boat with them.
15He warned them, saying, “Take heed: beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and the yeast of Herod.”
16They reasoned with one another, saying, “It’s because we have no bread.”
17Jesus, perceiving it, said to them, “Why do you reason that it’s because you have no bread? Don’t you perceive yet or understand? Is your heart still hardened?
18Having eyes, don’t you see? Having ears, don’t you hear? Don’t you remember?
19When I broke the five loaves among the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?” They told him, “Twelve.”
20“When the seven loaves fed the four thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?” They told him, “Seven.”
21He asked them, “Don’t you understand yet?”
22He came to Bethsaida. They brought a blind man to him and begged him to touch him.
23He took hold of the blind man by the hand, and brought him out of the village. When he had spat on his eyes, and laid his hands on him, he asked him if he saw anything.
24He looked up, and said, “I see men, but I see them like walking trees.”
25Then again he laid his hands on his eyes. He looked intently, and was restored, and saw everyone clearly.
26He sent him away to his house, saying, “Don’t enter into the village, nor tell anyone in the village.”
27Jesus went out, with his disciples, into the villages of Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked his disciples, “Who do men say that I am?”
28They told him, “John the Baptizer, and others say Elijah, but others, one of the prophets.”
29He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Christ.”
30He commanded them that they should tell no one about him.
31He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
32He spoke to them openly. Peter took him and began to rebuke him.
33But he, turning around and seeing his disciples, rebuked Peter, and said, “Get behind me, Satan! For you have in mind not the things of God, but the things of men.”
34He called the multitude to himself with his disciples and said to them, “Whoever wants to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
35For whoever wants to save his life will lose it; and whoever will lose his life for my sake and the sake of the Good News will save it.
36For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?
37For what will a man give in exchange for his life?
38For whoever will be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man also will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”
