Si los envío sin comer, se desmayarán en el camino porque muchos han venido de lejos.
Y si los enviare en ayunas á sus casas, desmayarán en el camino; porque algunos de ellos han venido de lejos.
And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.
If I send them away fasting to their home, they will faint on the way, for some of them have come a long way.”
―Y en un lugar desierto como este, ¿dónde se podrá encontrar alimentos para darles de comer? —protestaron los discípulos.
Y sus discípulos le respondieron: ¿De dónde podrá alguien hartar á estos de pan aquí en el desierto?
And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?

―¿Cuántos panes tienen? —les preguntó. ―Siete —respondieron.
Y les preguntó: ¿Cuántos panes tenéis? Y ellos dijeron: Siete.
And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.
He asked them, “How many loaves do you have?” They said, “Seven.”
Pidió a la multitud que se sentara en el suelo. Luego tomó los siete panes, dio gracias a Dios por ellos, los partió y los fue pasando a los discípulos. Los discípulos a su vez los fueron distribuyendo.
Entonces mandó á la multitud que se recostase en tierra; y tomando los siete panes, habiendo dado gracias, partió, y dió á sus discípulos que los pusiesen delante: y los pusieron delante á la multitud.
And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people.

Encontraron también unos pescaditos. Jesús los bendijo y pidió a los discípulos que los repartieran.
Tenían también unos pocos pececillos: y los bendijo, y mandó que también los pusiesen delante.
And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them.

Acto seguido se embarcó con sus discípulos hacia la región de Dalmanuta.

Allí llegaron los fariseos y empezaron a discutir con él. Para ponerlo a prueba le dijeron: ―Haz alguna señal en el cielo.

And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.

Y él, suspirando profundamente, respondió: ―¿Por qué pide esta gente una señal? Les aseguro que no se le dará ninguna.
Y gimiendo en su espíritu, dice: ¿Por qué pide señal esta generación? De cierto os digo que no se dará señal á esta generación.
And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.
He sighed deeply in his spirit and said, “Why does this generation seek a sign? Most certainly I tell you, no sign will be given to this generation.”
Entonces los dejó y se embarcó de nuevo. Esta vez se fue al otro lado del lago.
Y dejándolos, volvió á entrar en el barco, y se fué de la otra parte.
And he left them, and entering into the ship again departed to the other side.

A los discípulos se les olvidó comprar alimentos antes de salir, y sólo tenían un pan en la barca.
Y se habían olvidado de tomar pan, y no tenían sino un pan consigo en el barco.
Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf.

Jesús les advirtió: ―¡Cuidado con la levadura del rey Herodes y la de los fariseos!
Y les mandó, diciendo: Mirad, guardaos de la levadura de los Fariseos, y de la levadura de Herodes.
And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.

Los discípulos se preguntaban intrigados: ¿Se referirá a que se nos olvidó el pan?
Y altercaban los unos con los otros diciendo: Pan no tenemos.
And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.
They reasoned with one another, saying, “It’s because we have no bread.”
Jesús, que sabía lo que estaban comentando, les dijo: ―¿Por qué están hablando de que no tienen pan? ¿Todavía no ven ni entienden? ¿Tienen el corazón tan endurecido?
Y como Jesús lo entendió, les dice: ¿Qué altercáis, porque no tenéis pan? ¿no consideráis ni entendéis? ¿aun tenéis endurecido vuestro corazón?
And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?
Jesus, perceiving it, said to them, “Why do you reason that it’s because you have no bread? Don’t you perceive yet or understand? Is your heart still hardened?
¿Acaso tienen ojos y no ven, y oídos y no escuchan? ¿Ya no se acuerdan de
¿Teniendo ojos no veis, y teniendo oídos no oís? ¿y no os acordáis?
Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

que alimenté a cinco mil hombres con cinco panes? ¿Cuántas cestas llenas sobraron? ―Doce— contestaron.
Cuando partí los cinco panes entre cinco mil, ¿cuántas espuertas llenas de los pedazos alzasteis? Y ellos dijeron: Doce.
When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.

―Y cuando alimenté a los cuatro mil con siete panes, ¿qué sobró? ―Siete cestas llenas —le respondieron.
Y cuando los siete panes entre cuatro mil, ¿cuántas espuertas llenas de los pedazos alzasteis? Y ellos dijeron: Siete.
And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.
“When the seven loaves fed the four thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?” They told him, “Seven.”
―¿Y todavía no entienden? —les dijo.
Y les dijo: ¿Cómo aun no entendéis?
And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?
He asked them, “Don’t you understand yet?”
Llegaron luego a Betsaida; le llevaron a un ciego y le rogaron que lo tocara.

And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.

Jesús tomó al ciego de la mano y lo sacó del pueblo. Una vez fuera, le mojó los ojos con saliva y le puso las manos encima. ―¿Ves algo ahora? —le preguntó.
Entonces, tomando la mano del ciego, le sacó fuera de la aldea; y escupiendo en sus ojos, y poniéndole las manos encima, le preguntó si veía algo.
And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.
He took hold of the blind man by the hand, and brought him out of the village. When he had spat on his eyes, and laid his hands on him, he asked him if he saw anything.
El hombre miró a su alrededor. ―¡Sí! —dijo—. Veo gente y parecen como árboles que caminan.
Y él mirando, dijo: Veo los hombres, pues veo que andan como árboles.
And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.
He looked up, and said, “I see men, but I see them like walking trees.”
Jesús le colocó de nuevo las manos sobre los ojos, y el hombre miró fijamente y pudo ver todo con claridad.
Luego le puso otra vez las manos sobre sus ojos, y le hizo que mirase; y fué restablecido, y vió de lejos y claramente á todos.
After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.
Then again he laid his hands on his eyes. He looked intently, and was restored, and saw everyone clearly.
Jesús le ordenó que regresara con su familia. ―No entres en el pueblo —le dijo.
Y envióle á su casa, diciendo: No entres en la aldea, ni lo digas á nadie en la aldea.
And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.

Jesús y sus discípulos siguieron hacia los pueblos de Cesarea de Filipo. En el camino les preguntó: ―¿Quién cree la gente que soy?
Y salió Jesús y sus discípulos por las aldeas de Cesarea de Filipo. Y en el camino preguntó á sus discípulos, diciéndoles: ¿Quién dicen los hombres que soy yo?

―Algunos dicen que eres Juan el Bautista —le respondieron—; y otros afirman que eres Elías o uno de los profetas.

And they answered, John the Baptist: but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.
They told him, “John the Baptizer, and others say Elijah, but others, one of the prophets.”
―¿Y quién creen ustedes que soy? Pedro le respondió: ―¡Tú eres el Mesías!
Entonces él les dice: Y vosotros, ¿quién decís que soy yo? Y respondiendo Pedro, le dice: Tú eres el Cristo.
And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.
He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, “You are the Christ.”
Jesús les mandó que no se lo dijeran a nadie.
Y les apercibió que no hablasen de él á ninguno.
And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.

Y empezó a enseñarles que era necesario que el Hijo del hombre sufriera mucho y que iba a ser rechazado por los ancianos, los jefes de los sacerdotes y los maestros de la ley. Les dijo también que lo matarían, pero resucitaría después de tres días.
Y comenzó á enseñarles, que convenía que el Hijo del hombre padeciese mucho, y ser reprobado de los ancianos, y de los príncipes de los sacerdotes, y de los escribas, y ser muerto, y resucitar después de tres días.
And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

Con tanta franqueza les habló, que Pedro lo llamó aparte y lo reprendió.

Pero Jesús le volvió la espalda y, mirando a los otros discípulos, reprendió a Pedro: ―¡Apártate de mí, Satanás! ¡Estás mirando las cosas como las ven los hombres y no como las ve Dios!
Y él, volviéndose y mirando á sus discípulos, riñó á Pedro, diciendo: Apártate de mí, Satanás; porque no sabes las cosas que son de Dios, sino las que son de los hombres.
But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.
But he, turning around and seeing his disciples, rebuked Peter, and said, “Get behind me, Satan! For you have in mind not the things of God, but the things of men.”
Dicho esto, llamó a la multitud junto con sus discípulos y añadió: ―Si alguno quiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese a sí mismo, tome su cruz y sígame.
Y llamando á la gente con sus discípulos, les dijo: Cualquiera que quisiere venir en pos de mí, niéguese á sí mismo, y tome su cruz, y sígame.
And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
He called the multitude to himself with his disciples and said to them, “Whoever wants to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
El que se afana por salvar su vida, la perderá. Pero los que pierden su vida por mi causa y por la causa del evangelio, la salvarán.
Porque el que quisiere salvar su vida, la perderá; y el que perdiere su vida por causa de mí y del evangelio, la salvará.
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.
For whoever wants to save his life will lose it; and whoever will lose his life for my sake and the sake of the Good News will save it.
»¿De qué le sirve a una persona ganarse el mundo entero si pierde su vida?
Porque ¿qué aprovechará al hombre, si granjeare todo el mundo, y pierde su alma?
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his life?
¿Qué se puede dar a cambio de la vida?
¿O qué recompensa dará el hombre por su alma?
Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
For what will a man give in exchange for his life?
Si alguien se avergüenza de mí y de mi mensaje en medio de esta gente incrédula y pecadora, el Hijo del hombre se avergonzará de él cuando venga en la gloria de su Padre con los santos ángeles.
Porque el que se avergonzare de mí y de mis palabras en esta generación adulterina y pecadora, el Hijo del hombre se avergonzará también de él, cuando vendrá en la gloria de su Padre con los santos ángeles.
Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
For whoever will be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man also will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”
