Y será que todos los que te vieren, se apartarán de ti, y dirán: Nínive es asolada: ¿quién se compadecerá de ella? ¿dónde te buscaré consoladores?
And it shall come to pass, that all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?
It will happen that all those who look at you will flee from you, and say, ‘Nineveh is laid waste! Who will mourn for her?’ Where will I seek comforters for you?”
¿Eres tú por ventura mejor que la populosa Alejandría, que tiene su asiento entre ríos o brazos del Nilo, y está rodeada de aguas; cuyos tesoros son el mar, y las aguas son murallas?

Mira que el pueblo que contiene se ha vuelto débil como si fuese un pueblo de mujeres. Las puertas de tu país se abrirán de par en par a tus enemigos; devorará el fuego los cerrojos o barras que les pongas.

Entonces serás devorada por el fuego; perecerás al filo de la espada, la cual te devorará, como el pulgón a la hierba, aunque reúnas gente en tanto número como el pulgón y la langosta.

Tus guardas o capitanes se parecen a las langostas, y tus pequeños habitantes o soldados a las tiernas langostas; las cuales hacen asiento en los vallados durante el frío de la noche; pero luego que el sol ha nacido, se levantan, y ya no queda rastro de ellas en el lugar en donde han parado.
Tus príncipes serán como langostas, y tus grandes como langostas de langostas que se sientan en vallados en día de frío: salido el sol se mudan, y no se conoce el lugar donde estuvieron.
Thy crowned are as the locusts, and thy captains as the great grasshoppers, which camp in the hedges in the cold day, but when the sun ariseth they flee away, and their place is not known where they are.

Notoria se ha hecho tu calamidad; tu llaga tiene muy mala cura; batieron las manos en señal de alegría todos cuantos han sabido lo que te ha acaecido: porque ¿a quién no dañó en todo tiempo tu malicia?
No hay cura para tu quebradura; tu herida se encrudeció: todos los que oyeron tu fama, batirán las manos sobre ti, porque ¿sobre quién no pasó continuamente tu malicia?
There is no healing of thy bruise; thy wound is grievous: all that hear the bruit of thee shall clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?
There is no healing your wound, for your injury is fatal. All who hear the report of you clap their hands over you, for who hasn’t felt your endless cruelty?
