And certain of the priests’ sons with trumpets; namely, Zechariah the son of Jonathan, the son of Shemaiah, the son of Mattaniah, the son of Michaiah, the son of Zaccur, the son of Asaph:

e depois desde a porta de Efraim até a porta Velha, passando pela porta do Peixe e pela torre de Hananeel, continuamos até a porta da torre dos Cem; depois caminhamos até a porta das Ovelhas e paramos junto à porta da Guarda.

Naquele mesmo dia foram nomeados os homens encarregados dos depósitos, das ofertas movidas, dos dízimos, das ofertas dos primeiros frutos das colheitas. Esses homens recolhiam das lavouras ao redor das cidades as contribuições exigidas pela Lei de Moisés. Essas ofertas eram destinadas aos sacerdotes e aos levitas, pois o povo de Judá estava satisfeito com os sacerdotes e os levitas e com o trabalho que faziam no templo.

Foi nos dias de Davi e de Asafe que começou o costume de ter regentes de coro para dirigir os coros no cântico de hinos de louvor e de agradecimentos a Deus.

Por isso, agora, nos dias de Zorobabel e de Neemias, o povo trazia ofertas todos os dias para os cantores, para os porteiros e para os levitas. Os levitas, por sua vez, separavam uma porção aos descendentes de Arão.

Y todo Israel en días de Zorobabel, y en días de Nehemías, daba raciones á los cantores y á los porteros, cada cosa en su día: consagraban asimismo sus porciones á los Levitas, y los Levitas consagraban parte á los hijos de Aarón.

And all Israel in the days of Zerubbabel, and in the days of Nehemiah, gave the portions of the singers and the porters, every day his portion: and they sanctified holy things unto the Levites; and the Levites sanctified them unto the children of Aaron.

All Israel in the days of Zerubbabel and in the days of Nehemiah gave the portions of the singers and the gatekeepers, as every day required; and they set apart that which was for the Levites; and the Levites set apart that which was for the sons of Aaron.
