Nehemías 13

Naquele dia, enquanto o Livro de Moisés foi lido em voz alta, achou-se escrito nele que não se deveria permitir que os amonitas e os moabitas se juntassem ao povo de Deus,

AQUEL día se leyó en el libro de Moisés oyéndolo el pueblo, y fué hallado en él escrito, que los Ammonitas y Moabitas no debían entrar jamás en la congregación de Dios;

On that day they read in the book of Moses in the audience of the people; and therein was found written, that the Ammonite and the Moabite should not come into the congregation of God for ever;

porque eles não tinham sido bondosos com o povo de Israel, não dando água e comida aos israelitas. Em vez disso, tinham contratado Balaão para amaldiçoar o povo. Porém, Deus transformou a maldição em bênção.

e havia transformado uma grande sala do depósito em um bonito quarto de hóspedes para Tobias. Antes o lugar era usado para depósito das ofertas de cereais, de incenso, dos utensílios do templo, dos dízimos de trigo, de vinho novo e azeite de oliveira. Moisés tinha decretado que essas ofertas pertenciam aos levitas, aos cantores e aos porteiros, além das ofertas movidas para os sacerdotes.

Y le había hecho una grande cámara, en la cual guardaban antes las ofrendas, y el perfume, y los vasos, y el diezmo del grano, y del vino y del aceite, que estaba mandado dar á los Levitas, á los cantores, y á los porteros; y la ofrenda de los sacerdotes.

And he had prepared for him a great chamber, where aforetime they laid the meat offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the corn, the new wine, and the oil, which was commanded to be given to the Levites, and the singers, and the porters; and the offerings of the priests.

Eu não estava em Jerusalém nesse tempo, pois tinha voltado para a Babilônia no trigésimo segundo ano do reinado de Artaxerxes — contudo, mais tarde recebi permissão

Mas á todo esto, yo no estaba en Jerusalem; porque el año treinta y dos de Artajerjes rey de Babilonia, vine al rey; y al cabo de días fuí enviado del rey.

para voltar de novo a Jerusalém. Quando cheguei a Jerusalém, tomei conhecimento desse ato mau de Eliasibe, ao ceder uma sala a Tobias nos pátios do templo de Deus.

Y venido á Jerusalem, entendí el mal que había hecho Eliasib en atención á Tobías, haciendo para él cámara en los patios de la casa de Dios.

And I came to Jerusalem, and understood of the evil that Eliashib did for Tobiah, in preparing him a chamber in the courts of the house of God.

Fiquei muito irado e joguei fora todos os móveis de Tobias.

And it grieved me sore: therefore I cast forth all the household stuff of Tobiah out of the chamber.

Então exigi que o quarto fosse purificado completamente, e trouxe de volta os utensílios do templo de Deus, com as ofertas de cereais e o incenso.

Y dije que limpiasen las cámaras, é hice volver allí las alhajas de la casa de Dios, las ofrendas y el perfume.

Then I commanded, and they cleansed the chambers: and thither brought I again the vessels of the house of God, with the meat offering and the frankincense.

Também fui informado de que os levitas não tinham recebido o que lhes era devido, de modo que eles e os levitas cantores que deviam guiar os cultos de adoração tinham voltado para as suas terras.

E mais uma vez todo o povo de Judá começou a trazer os dízimos de cereais, do vinho novo e do azeite de oliveira para o depósito do templo.

Coloquei Selemias, o sacerdote, Zadoque, o escrivão, e Pedaías, o levita, como encarregados da administração dos depósitos; e nomeei Hanã, filho de Zacur, neto de Matanias, como auxiliar deles. Esses homens eram muito respeitados, e eles ficaram responsáveis pela distribuição dos suprimentos aos seus companheiros levitas.

And I made treasurers over the treasuries, Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Levites, Pedaiah: and next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah: for they were counted faithful, and their office was to distribute unto their brethren.

Ó meu Deus, lembre-se de mim por isso, e não se esqueça de tudo o que eu tenho feito pelo templo de meu Deus e pelo seu culto.

Um dia eu estava numa plantação e vi alguns homens pisando nos tanques de prensar uvas no sábado. Além disso, transportavam feixes de trigo, e carregavam os jumentos com vinho, uvas, figos, e todo tipo de mercadoria para Jerusalém. Chamei a atenção deles em público para não vender alimento nesse dia!

En aquellos días ví en Judá algunos que pisaban en lagares el sábado, y que acarreaban haces, y cargaban asnos con vino, y también de uvas, de higos, y toda suerte de carga, y traían á Jerusalem en día de sábado; y protestéles acerca del día que vendían el mantenimiento.

In those days saw I in Judah some treading wine presses on the sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and lading asses; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I testified against them in the day wherein they sold victuals.

Havia também alguns homens que vinham de Tiro, que moravam em Jerusalém, trazendo peixe e todo tipo de mercadoria para vender esses artigos ao povo de Judá, no sábado.

También estaban en ella Tirios que traían pescado y toda mercadería, y vendían en sábado á los hijos de Judá en Jerusalem.

There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish, and all manner of ware, and sold on the sabbath unto the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem.

Então perguntei aos chefes de Judá: “Por que vocês estão profanando o dia de sábado?

Já não foi suficiente que os seus antepassados fizessem o mesmo, levando o nosso Deus a trazer desgraça sobre nós e sobre nossa cidade? Agora vocês estão trazendo mais ira sobre o povo de Israel, profanando o dia de sábado”.

¿No hicieron así vuestros padres, y trajo nuestro Dios sobre nosotros todo este mal, y sobre esta ciudad? ¿Y vosotros añadís ira sobre Israel profanando el sábado?

Por isso, ordenei que, daquele dia em diante, as portas da cidade fossem fechadas nas tardes de sexta-feira, assim que começasse a escurecer, e só fossem abertas depois que o sábado tivesse terminado; e mandei alguns dos meus homens de confiança guardarem as portas para que não entrasse nenhuma mercadoria no sábado.

Sucedió pues, que cuando iba oscureciendo á las puertas de Jerusalem antes del sábado, dije que se cerrasen las puertas, y ordené que no las abriesen hasta después del sábado; y puse á las puertas algunos de mis criados, para que en día de sábado no entrasen carga.

porém falei duramente com eles: “O que vocês estão fazendo aí fora, acampando ao redor do muro? Se fizerem isso de novo, mandarei prendê-los”. E essa foi a última vez que eles vieram no sábado.

Então mandei que os levitas se purificassem e que guardassem as portas a fim de que o dia de sábado fosso respeitado como sagrado. Lembre-se de mim por isso, ó meu Deus, e tenha compaixão de mim de acordo com o seu grande amor.

Y dije á los Levitas que se purificasen, y viniesen á guardar las puertas, para santificar el día del sábado. También por esto acuérdate de mí, Dios mío, y perdóname según la muchedumbre de tu misericordia.

And I commanded the Levites that they should cleanse themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the sabbath day. Remember me, O my God, concerning this also, and spare me according to the greatness of thy mercy.

Nessa mesma ocasião, vi que alguns dos judeus haviam se casado com mulheres de Asdode, de Amom e de Moabe.

A metade dos filhos deles falava a língua de Asdode ou dos outros povos, mas não falava a língua de Judá.

Não foi por causa de casamentos como esses que Salomão, rei de Israel, pecou? Não havia rei igual a ele entre as muitas nações; Deus amava Salomão e fez dele rei sobre todo o povo de Israel. Mesmo assim ele foi induzido por mulheres estrangeiras a praticar a idolatria.

¿No pecó por esto Salomón, rey de Israel? Bien que en muchas gentes no hubo rey como él, que era amado de su Dios y Dios lo había puesto por rey sobre todo Israel, aun á él hicieron pecar las mujeres extranjeras.

Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did outlandish women cause to sin.

Como permitiremos isso? Como podem cometer essa terrível maldade e ser infiéis ao nosso Deus, casando-se com mulheres estrangeiras?”

¿Y obedeceremos á vosotros para cometer todo este mal tan grande de prevaricar contra nuestro Dios, tomando mujeres extranjeras?

Shall we then hearken unto you to do all this great evil, to transgress against our God in marrying strange wives?

Um dos filhos de Joiada, filho de Eliasibe, o sumo sacerdote, era genro de Sambalate, o horonita; por isso eu o expulsei para longe de mim.

Assim purifiquei o povo de tudo o que era estrangeiro, dei tarefas para os sacerdotes e levitas, e determinei a cada um o trabalho que tinha de fazer.
