No Mês de Nisã, no vigésimo ano do rei Artaxerxes, quando o rei selecionou o vinho, peguei-o e dei-o ao rei. Ora, eu nunca havia ficado triste na presença dele.
Y FUÉ en el mes de Nisán, en el año veinte del rey Artajerjes, que estando ya el vino delante de él, tomé el vino, y dílo al rey. Y como yo no había estado antes triste en su presencia,
And it came to pass in the month Nisan, in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes the king, that wine was before him: and I took up the wine, and gave it unto the king. Now I had not been beforetime sad in his presence.

Então o rei me disse: "Por que o seu rosto está tão triste? Tu não pareces estar doente. Isso deve ser tristeza do coração". Então, fiquei com muito medo.
Díjome el rey: ¿Por qué está triste tu rostro, pues no estás enfermo? No es esto sino quebranto de corazón. Entonces temí en gran manera.
Wherefore the king said unto me, Why is thy countenance sad, seeing thou art not sick? this is nothing else but sorrow of heart. Then I was very sore afraid,
The king said to me, “Why is your face sad, since you are not sick? This is nothing else but sorrow of heart.” Then I was very much afraid.
Eu disse ao rei: "Que o rei viva para sempre! Como o meu rosto não estaria triste? A cidade, onde estão os sepulcros dos meus pais, está em ruínas, e os portões foram destruídos pelo fogo".
Y dije al rey: El rey viva para siempre. ¿Cómo no estará triste mi rostro, cuando la ciudad, casa de los sepulcros de mis padres, está desierta, y sus puertas consumidas del fuego?
And said unto the king, Let the king live for ever: why should not my countenance be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ sepulchres, lieth waste, and the gates thereof are consumed with fire?
I said to the king, “Let the king live forever! Why shouldn’t my face be sad, when the city, the place of my fathers’ tombs, lies waste, and its gates have been consumed with fire?”
Então, o rei me disse: "O que queres que eu faça?" Eu orei ao Deus dos céus.
Y díjome el rey: ¿Qué cosa pides? Entonces oré al Dios de los cielos,
Then the king said unto me, For what dost thou make request? So I prayed to the God of heaven.

Então, eu respondi ao rei: "Se parecer bom ao rei, e se o teu servo tem sido agradável aos teus olhos, vossa majestade poderia enviar-me para Judá, cidade dos selpucros dos meus pais, para que eu possa reconstruí-la".
Y dije al rey: Si al rey place, y si agrada tu siervo delante de ti, que me envíes á Judá, á la ciudad de los sepulcros de mis padres, y la reedificaré.
And I said unto the king, If it please the king, and if thy servant have found favour in thy sight, that thou wouldest send me unto Judah, unto the city of my fathers’ sepulchres, that I may build it.
I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, and if your servant has found favor in your sight, I ask that you would send me to Judah, to the city of my fathers’ tombs, that I may build it.”
O rei respondeu-me (e a rainha estava sentada ao lado dele): "Por quanto tempo ficarás fora e quando tu retornarás?" O rei ficou feliz em me enviar quando eu lhe dei as datas.
Entonces el rey me dijo, (y la reina estaba sentada junto á él): ¿Hasta cuándo será tu viaje, y cuándo volverás? Y plugo al rey enviarme, después que yo le señalé tiempo.
And the king said unto me, (the queen also sitting by him,) For how long shall thy journey be? and when wilt thou return? So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.

Então, eu disse ao rei: "Se for do agrado do rei, que cartas possam ser entregues a mim para os governadores das províncias situadas além do rio, para que eles me permitam passar pelos seus territórios, no meu caminho para Judá.

And a letter unto Asaph the keeper of the king’s forest, that he may give me timber to make beams for the gates of the palace which appertained to the house, and for the wall of the city, and for the house that I shall enter into. And the king granted me, according to the good hand of my God upon me.

Eu fui até os governadores das províncias situadas além do rio, e dei-lhes as cartas do rei. Ora, o rei tinha enviado comigo oficiais do exército e cavaleiros.

Quando Sambalate, o horonita, e Tobias, o oficial amonita, ouviram isso, eles ficaram muito irritados pelo fato de ter chegado alguém que queria ajudar o povo de Israel.
Y oyéndolo Sanballat Horonita, y Tobías, el siervo Ammonita, disgustóles en extremo que viniese alguno para procurar el bien de los hijos de Israel.

Eu lhes disse: "Vós vedes o problema em que estamos, como Jerusalém está em ruínas e como os seus portões foram destruídos pelo fogo. Vinde, vamos reconstruir o muro de Jerusalém para que não estejamos mais em desgraça".
Díjeles pues: Vosotros veis el mal en que estamos, que Jerusalem está desierta, y sus puertas consumidas del fuego: venid, y edifiquemos el muro de Jerusalem, y no seamos más en oprobio.
Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach.
Then I said to them, “You see the bad situation that we are in, how Jerusalem lies waste, and its gates are burned with fire. Come, let’s build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we won’t be disgraced.”
Contei-lhes que a boa mão do meu Deus estava sobre mim, e também sobre as palavras do rei, que ele me tinha dito. Eles disseram: "Levantemo-nos e construamos". Então, eles fortaleceram as mãos para a boa obra.
Entonces les declaré cómo la mano de mi Dios era buena sobre mí, y asimismo las palabras del rey, que me había dicho. Y dijeron: Levantémonos, y edifiquemos. Así esforzaron sus manos para bien.
Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king’s words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.

Mas, quando Sambalate, o horonita, e Tobias, o oficial, e Gesém, o árabe, ouviram isso, eles zombaram de nós, desprezaram-nos e disseram: "O que vós estais fazendo? Vós estais vos rebelando contra o rei?".

E eu lhes respondi: "O Deus dos céus nos fará bem-sucedidos. Nós somos os Seus servos e nos levantaremos e construiremos. Mas vós não tendes parte, nem direito e nem memorial em Jerusalém".
Y volvíles respuesta, y díjeles: El Dios de los cielos, él nos prosperará, y nosotros sus siervos nos levantaremos y edificaremos: que vosotros no tenéis parte, ni derecho, ni memoria en Jerusalem.
Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem.
