2Lo que ocurría era que las familias que se quedaban sin dinero tenían que vender a sus hijos o hipotecar sus campos, viñas o casas para obtener dinero para comprar comida. Algunos ni eso podían hacer, porque ya habían tomado dinero prestado para pagar los impuestos que le pagaban al rey. La gente protestaba:

2Y había quien decía: Nosotros, nuestros hijos y nuestras hijas, somos muchos: hemos por tanto tomado grano para comer y vivir.
