1Luego que el muro fue edificado, y colocadas las hojas de las puertas, y designados los porteros, los cantores y los levitas,
2mandé a mi hermano Hanani, y a Hananías, jefe de la fortaleza, que gobernasen a Jerusalén (porque este era varón de verdad y temeroso de Dios más que muchos).
3Y les dije: «No se abran las puertas de Jerusalén hasta que caliente el sol; y mientras los guardias estén presentes, cerrad las puertas y atrancadlas. Y señalad guardias de entre los moradores de Jerusalén, cada cual en su turno, y cada uno delante de su casa».
4Porque la ciudad era espaciosa y grande, pero el pueblo dentro de ella era poco, y no había casas reedificadas.
5Entonces puso Dios en mi corazón que reuniese a los nobles y magistrados y al pueblo, para que fuesen registrados por su genealogía. Y hallé el libro de la genealogía de los que habían subido antes, y hallé escrito en él:
6Estos son los hijos de la provincia que subieron del cautiverio de los deportados, a quienes Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia había llevado cautivos, y que volvieron a Jerusalén y a Judá, cada uno a su ciudad;
7los cuales vinieron con Zorobabel, Jesúa, Nehemías, Azarías, Raamías, Nahamani, Mardoqueo, Bilsán, Misperet, Bigvai, Nehum y Baana. El número de los varones del pueblo de Israel:
8Los hijos de Paros: dos mil ciento setenta y dos.
9Los hijos de Sefatías: trescientos setenta y dos.
10Los hijos de Ara: seiscientos cincuenta y dos.
11Los hijos de Pahat-moab, de los hijos de Jesúa y de Joab: dos mil ochocientos dieciocho.

57Los hijos de los siervos de Salomón: los hijos de Sotai, los hijos de Soferet, los hijos de Perida,
58los hijos de Jaala, los hijos de Darcón, los hijos de Gidel,
59los hijos de Sefatías, los hijos de Hatil, los hijos de Poqueret-haze-bayim y los hijos de Amón.
60El total de los sirvientes del templo y de los hijos de los siervos de Salomón: trescientos noventa y dos.
61Y estos fueron los que subieron de Tel-melá, Tel-harsa, Querub, Addón e Imer, los cuales no pudieron demostrar la casa de sus padres ni su linaje, si eran de Israel:
62Los hijos de Delaía, los hijos de Tobías y los hijos de Necoda: seiscientos cuarenta y dos.
63Y de los sacerdotes: los hijos de Habaía, los hijos de Coz y los hijos de Barzilai, el cual tomó mujer de las hijas de Barzilai galaadita, y fue llamado por el nombre de ellas.
64Estos buscaron su registro genealógico, y no se halló; por lo cual fueron excluidos del sacerdocio.
65Y les dijo el gobernador que no comiesen de las cosas más santas hasta que hubiese sacerdote con Urim y Tumim.
66Toda la congregación unida era de cuarenta y dos mil trescientos sesenta,
67sin contar sus siervos y sus siervas, que eran siete mil trescientos treinta y siete; y tenían doscientos cuarenta y cinco cantores y cantoras.
68Sus caballos eran setecientos treinta y seis; sus mulos, doscientos cuarenta y cinco;
69sus camellos, cuatrocientos treinta y cinco; sus asnos, seis mil setecientos veinte.
70Y algunos de los jefes de las casas paternas dieron para la obra. El gobernador dio para el tesoro mil dáricos de oro, cincuenta cuencos, y quinientas treinta vestiduras sacerdotales.
71Y los otros jefes de las casas paternas dieron para el tesoro de la obra veinte mil dáricos de oro y dos mil doscientas minas de plata.
72Y lo que dio el resto del pueblo fue veinte mil dáricos de oro, dos mil minas de plata y sesenta y siete vestiduras sacerdotales.
73Y habitaron los sacerdotes, los levitas, los porteros, los cantores, parte del pueblo, los sirvientes del templo y todo Israel en sus ciudades. Cuando llegó el mes séptimo, los hijos de Israel estaban ya en sus ciudades.

1Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,

63And of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Koz, the children of Barzillai, which took one of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite to wife, and was called after their name.
64These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but it was not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.
65And the Tirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and Thummim.
66The whole congregation together was forty and two thousand three hundred and threescore,
67Beside their manservants and their maidservants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven: and they had two hundred forty and five singing men and singing women.
68Their horses, seven hundred thirty and six: their mules, two hundred forty and five:
69Their camels, four hundred thirty and five: six thousand seven hundred and twenty asses.
70And some of the chief of the fathers gave unto the work. The Tirshatha gave to the treasure a thousand drams of gold, fifty basons, five hundred and thirty priests’ garments.
71And some of the chief of the fathers gave to the treasure of the work twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand and two hundred pound of silver.
72And that which the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand pound of silver, and threescore and seven priests’ garments.
73So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities.

60All the temple servants and the children of Solomon’s servants were three hundred ninety-two.
61These were those who went up from Tel Melah, Tel Harsha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer; but they could not show their fathers’ houses, nor their offspring, whether they were of Israel:
62The children of Delaiah, the children of Tobiah, the children of Nekoda: six hundred forty-two.
63Of the priests: the children of Hobaiah, the children of Hakkoz, the children of Barzillai, who took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called after their name.
64These searched for their genealogical records, but couldn’t find them. Therefore they were deemed disqualified and removed from the priesthood.
65The governor told them not to eat of the most holy things until a priest stood up to minister with Urim and Thummim.
66The whole assembly together was forty-two thousand three hundred sixty,
67in addition to their male servants and their female servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty-seven. They had two hundred forty-five singing men and singing women.
68Their horses were seven hundred thirty-six; their mules, two hundred forty-five;
69their camels, four hundred thirty-five; their donkeys, six thousand seven hundred twenty.
70Some from among the heads of fathers’ households gave to the work. The governor gave to the treasury one thousand darics of gold, fifty basins, and five hundred thirty priests’ garments.
71Some of the heads of fathers’ households gave into the treasury of the work twenty thousand darics of gold, and two thousand two hundred minas of silver.
72That which the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand darics of gold, plus two thousand minas of silver, and sixty-seven priests’ garments.
73So the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, some of the people, the temple servants, and all Israel lived in their cities. When the seventh month had come, the children of Israel were in their cities.
