1Ora, dopo che le mura furono riedificate, e che io ebbi posate le reggi, e che furono costituiti i portinai, i cantori ed i Leviti ne' loro ufficii,
2io commisi la guardia di Gerusalemme ad Hanani, mio fratello; e ad Hanania, mastro del palazzo (conciossiachè veramente egli fosse uomo leale, e temesse Iddio più che molti altri);
3e dissi loro: Non apransi le porte di Gerusalemme, finchè il sole non si cominci a riscaldare; e mentre quelli che avranno fatta la guardia saranno ancora quivi presenti, serrinsi le porte, ed abbarratele voi; ed oltre a ciò, dispongansi le guardie degli abitanti di Gerusalemme, ciascuno alla sua vicenda, e ciascuno dirimpetto alla sua casa.
4Or la città era ampia e grande, e vi era poco popolo dentro, e le case non erano riedificate.
5E L'IDDIO mio mi mise in cuore d'adunar gli uomini notabili, i magistrati, e il popolo, per descriverli secondo le lor genealogie. Ed io trovai il libro della descrizione di quelli che erano ritornati la prima volta; ed in esso trovai scritto così:
6Questi son quei della provincia che ritornarono dalla cattività, d'infra i prigioni che Nebucadnesar, re di Babilonia, trasportò; ed i quali se ne rivennero in Gerusalemme, e in Giuda, ciascuno alla sua città;

61Or costoro, cioè Cherub, Addon ed Immer, i quali vennero di Tel-mela, e di Tel-harsa, non poterono dimostrar la casa loro paterna, nè la lor progenie se erano Israeliti.
62Come anche i figliuoli di Delaia, i figliuoli di Tobia, i figliuoli di Necoda, in numero di seicenquarantadue.
63E de' sacerdoti, i figliuoli di Habaia, i figliuoli di Cos, i figliuoli di Barzillai, il quale prese per moglie una delle figliuole di Barzillai Galaadita, e si chiamò del nome loro.
64Costoro cercarono il nome loro scritto fra quelli ch'erano descritti nelle genealogie, ma non furono trovati; laonde furono appartati dal sacerdozio, come persone non consacrate.
65Ed Hattirsata disse loro che non mangiassero delle cose santissime, finchè si presentasse un sacerdote con Urim e Tummim.
66Questa raunanza, tutta insieme, era di quarantaduemila trecensessanta;
67oltre a' lor servi e serve, ch'erano settemila trecentrentasette, fra i quali v'erano dugenquarantacinque cantori e cantatrici.
68I lor cavalli erano settecentrentasei; i lor muli dugenquarantacinque;
69i cammelli quattrocentrentacinque; gli asini seimila settecenventi.
70Or una parte de' capi delle famiglie paterne fecero doni per l'opera. Hattirsata diede nel tesoro mille dramme d'oro, cinquanta bacini, e cinquecentrenta robe da sacerdoti.
71Ed altri dei capi delle famiglie paterne diedero nel tesoro della fabbrica ventimila dramme d'oro, e duemila dugento mine d'argento.
72E ciò che il rimanente del popolo diede, fu ventimila dramme d'oro, e duemila mine d'argento, e sessantasette robe da sacerdoti.
73E i sacerdoti, e i Leviti, e i portinai, e i cantori, e que' del popolo, e i Netinei, e in somma tutto Israele, abitarono nelle lor città; e il settimo mese essendo giunto, i figliuoli d'Israele erano nelle lor città.

3Y díjeles: No se abran las puertas de Jerusalem hasta que caliente el sol: y aun ellos presentes, cierren las puertas, y atrancad. Y señalé guardas de los moradores de Jerusalem, cada cual en su guardia, y cada uno delante de su casa.

67Sin sus siervos y siervas, que eran siete mil trescientos treinta y siete; y entre ellos había doscientos cuarenta y cinco cantores y cantoras.
68Sus caballos, setecientos treinta y seis; sus mulos, doscientos cuarenta y cinco;
69Camellos, cuatrocientos treinta y cinco; asnos, seis mil setecientos y veinte.

1Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed,

63And of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Koz, the children of Barzillai, which took one of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite to wife, and was called after their name.
64These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but it was not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.
65And the Tirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and Thummim.
66The whole congregation together was forty and two thousand three hundred and threescore,
67Beside their manservants and their maidservants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven: and they had two hundred forty and five singing men and singing women.
68Their horses, seven hundred thirty and six: their mules, two hundred forty and five:
69Their camels, four hundred thirty and five: six thousand seven hundred and twenty asses.
70And some of the chief of the fathers gave unto the work. The Tirshatha gave to the treasure a thousand drams of gold, fifty basons, five hundred and thirty priests’ garments.
71And some of the chief of the fathers gave to the treasure of the work twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand and two hundred pound of silver.
72And that which the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand drams of gold, and two thousand pound of silver, and threescore and seven priests’ garments.
73So the priests, and the Levites, and the porters, and the singers, and some of the people, and the Nethinims, and all Israel, dwelt in their cities; and when the seventh month came, the children of Israel were in their cities.

54the children of Bazlith, the children of Mehida, the children of Harsha,
55the children of Barkos, the children of Sisera, the children of Temah,
56the children of Neziah, and the children of Hatipha.
57The children of Solomon’s servants: the children of Sotai, the children of Sophereth, the children of Perida,
58the children of Jaala, the children of Darkon, the children of Giddel,
59the children of Shephatiah, the children of Hattil, the children of Pochereth Hazzebaim, and the children of Amon.
60All the temple servants and the children of Solomon’s servants were three hundred ninety-two.
61These were those who went up from Tel Melah, Tel Harsha, Cherub, Addon, and Immer; but they could not show their fathers’ houses, nor their offspring, whether they were of Israel:
62The children of Delaiah, the children of Tobiah, the children of Nekoda: six hundred forty-two.
63Of the priests: the children of Hobaiah, the children of Hakkoz, the children of Barzillai, who took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called after their name.
64These searched for their genealogical records, but couldn’t find them. Therefore they were deemed disqualified and removed from the priesthood.
65The governor told them not to eat of the most holy things until a priest stood up to minister with Urim and Thummim.
66The whole assembly together was forty-two thousand three hundred sixty,
67in addition to their male servants and their female servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty-seven. They had two hundred forty-five singing men and singing women.
68Their horses were seven hundred thirty-six; their mules, two hundred forty-five;
69their camels, four hundred thirty-five; their donkeys, six thousand seven hundred twenty.
70Some from among the heads of fathers’ households gave to the work. The governor gave to the treasury one thousand darics of gold, fifty basins, and five hundred thirty priests’ garments.
71Some of the heads of fathers’ households gave into the treasury of the work twenty thousand darics of gold, and two thousand two hundred minas of silver.
72That which the rest of the people gave was twenty thousand darics of gold, plus two thousand minas of silver, and sixty-seven priests’ garments.
73So the priests, the Levites, the gatekeepers, the singers, some of the people, the temple servants, and all Israel lived in their cities. When the seventh month had come, the children of Israel were in their cities.
