Nehemías 8

y el pueblo se reunió como uno solo en la plaza junto a la Puerta del Agua. Le dijeron a Esdras el escriba que sacara el Libro de la Ley de Moisés, que el Señor había ordenado seguir a Israel.

Y JUNTÓSE todo el pueblo como un solo hombre en la plaza que está delante de la puerta de las Aguas, y dijeron á Esdras el escriba, que trajese el libro de la ley de Moisés, la cual mandó Jehová á Israel.

And all the people gathered themselves together as one man into the street that was before the water gate; and they spake unto Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel.

El primer día del séptimo mes, el sacerdote Esdras llevó la Ley ante la asamblea, hombres y mujeres, y todos los niños que podían escuchar y entender.

Y Esdras el sacerdote, trajo la ley delante de la congregación, así de hombres como de mujeres, y de todo entendido para escuchar, el primer día del mes séptimo.

Leyó la Ley delante de la plaza de la Puerta del Agua, desde la mañana hasta el mediodía, a todos los que estaban allí, a los hombres y a las mujeres y a los que podían entender. Todo el pueblo escuchaba atentamente el Libro de la Ley.

Y leyó en el libro delante de la plaza que está delante de la puerta de las Aguas, desde el alba hasta el medio día, en presencia de hombres y mujeres y entendidos; y los oídos de todo el pueblo estaban atentos al libro de la ley.

And he read therein before the street that was before the water gate from the morning until midday, before the men and the women, and those that could understand; and the ears of all the people were attentive unto the book of the law.

El escriba Esdras estaba de pie en un alto escenario de madera construido para este evento. A su derecha estaban Matatías, Sema, Anaías, Urías, Hilcías y Maasías, y a su izquierda Pedaías, Misael, Malquías, Hasum, Hash-badana, Zacarías y Mesulam.

Y Esdras el escriba estaba sobre un púlpito de madera, que habían hecho para ello; y junto á él estaban Mathithías, y Sema, y Anías, y Urías, é Hilcías, y Maasías, á su mano derecha; y á su mano izquierda, Pedaía, Misael, y Malchîas, y Hasum, y Hasbedana, Zachârías, y Mesullam.

And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchiah, and Hashum, and Hashbadana, Zechariah, and Meshullam.

Esdras abrió el libro mientras todos lo miraban porque toda la multitud podía verlo. Cuando lo abrió, todos se pusieron de pie.

Abrió pues Esdras el libro á ojos de todo el pueblo, (porque estaba más alto que todo el pueblo); y como lo abrió, todo el pueblo estuvo atento.

Bendijo entonces Esdras á Jehová, Dios grande. Y todo el pueblo respondió, ¡Amén! ¡Amén! alzando sus manos; y humilláronse, y adoraron á Jehová inclinados á tierra.

Jesúa, Baní, Serebías, Jamín, Acub, Sabetai, Hodías, Maasías, Kelita, Azarías, Jozabad, Hanán y Pelaías, que eran los levitas presentes, explicaron la Ley al pueblo mientras éste permanecía de pie.

Y Jesuá, y Bani, y Serebías, Jamín, Accub, Sabethai, Odías, Maasías, Celita, Azarías, Jozabed, Hanán, Pelaía, Levitas, hacían entender al pueblo la ley: y el pueblo estaba en su lugar.

Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people stood in their place.

Ellos leyeron del Libro de la Ley de Dios, aclarando el significado para que el pueblo pudiera entender lo que decía.

Y leían en el libro de la ley de Dios claramente, y ponían el sentido, de modo que entendiesen la lectura.

Entonces el gobernador Nehemías, el sacerdote y escriba Esdras y los levitas que enseñaban al pueblo les dijeron a todos: “Este es un día santo para el Señor, vuestro Dios. No lloren ni se lamenten”, porque todos lloraban al oír la lectura de la Ley.

Y Nehemías el Tirsatha, y el sacerdote Esdras, escriba, y los Levitas que hacían entender al pueblo, dijeron á todo el pueblo: Día santo es á Jehová nuestro Dios; no os entristezcáis, ni lloréis: porque todo el pueblo lloraba oyendo las palabras de la ley.

And Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the LORD your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.

Nehemías continuó diciendo: “Vayan y disfruten de buena comida y bebidas dulces, y compartan con los que no tienen nada preparado, porque hoy es un día especial y santo para nuestro Señor. No estén tristes, porque su fuerza viene del Señor, que los hace felices”.

Díjoles luego: Id, comed grosuras, y bebed vino dulce, y enviad porciones á los que no tienen prevenido; porque día santo es á nuestro Señor: y no os entristezcáis, porque el gozo de Jehová es vuestra fortaleza.

Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared, for today is holy to our Lord. Don’t be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”

También los levitas calmaban a todos, diciéndoles: “¡No lloren! Este es un día santo y no deben estar tristes”.

Los Levitas pues, hacían callar á todo el pueblo, diciendo: Callad, que es día santo, y no os entristezcáis.

So the Levites stilled all the people, saying, Hold your peace, for the day is holy; neither be ye grieved.

So the Levites calmed all the people, saying, “Hold your peace, for the day is holy. Don’t be grieved.”

Entonces todos se fueron a comer y a beber, y a compartir su comida. Celebraron con alegría porque ahora entendían la Ley tal como se les había explicado.

Y todo el pueblo se fué á comer y á beber, y á enviar porciones, y á gozar de grande alegría, porque habían entendido las palabras que les habían enseñado.

And all the people went their way to eat, and to drink, and to send portions, and to make great mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared unto them.

Al día siguiente, los jefes de familia de todo el pueblo, así como los sacerdotes y los levitas, se reunieron con el escriba Esdras para estudiar la Ley con mayor profundidad.

Y el día siguiente se juntaron los príncipes de las familias de todo el pueblo, sacerdotes, y Levitas, á Esdras escriba, para entender las palabras de la ley.

And on the second day were gathered together the chief of the fathers of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, unto Ezra the scribe, even to understand the words of the law.

Descubrieron que en la Ley que el Señor había ordenado observar por medio de Moisés, estaba escrito que los israelitas debían vivir en refugios durante la fiesta del séptimo mes.

Y hallaron escrito en la ley que Jehová había mandado por mano de Moisés, que habitasen los hijos de Israel en cabañas en la solemnidad del mes séptimo;

Debían hacer un anuncio en todas sus ciudades y en Jerusalén, diciendo: “Vayan al monte y traigan ramas de olivo, de acebuche, de mirto, de palma y de otros árboles frondosos, para hacer refugios para vivir, como lo exige la Ley”.

Y que hiciesen saber, y pasar pregón por todas sus ciudades y por Jerusalem, diciendo: Salid al monte, y traed ramos de oliva, y ramos de pino, y ramos de arrayán, y ramos de palmas, y ramos de todo árbol espeso, para hacer cabañas como está escrito.

And that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities, and in Jerusalem, saying, Go forth unto the mount, and fetch olive branches, and pine branches, and myrtle branches, and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written.

Así que salieron y trajeron ramas y se hicieron refugios en los tejados de sus casas, en sus patios, en los patios del Templo de Dios y en las plazas cercanas a la Puerta del Agua y a la Puerta de Efraín.

Salió pues el pueblo, y trajeron, é hiciéronse cabañas, cada uno sobre su terrado, y en sus patios, y en los patios de la casa de Dios, y en la plaza de la puerta de las Aguas, y en la plaza de la puerta de Ephraim.

So the people went forth, and brought them, and made themselves booths, every one upon the roof of his house, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of God, and in the street of the water gate, and in the street of the gate of Ephraim.

So the people went out and brought them, and made themselves temporary shelters, everyone on the roof of his house, in their courts, in the courts of God’s house, in the wide place of the water gate, and in the wide place of Ephraim’s gate.

Todos los que volvieron del exilio hicieron refugios y se quedaron en ellos. No habían celebrado así desde los tiempos de Josué, hijo de Nun. Todos estaban muy contentos.

Y toda la congregación que volvió de la cautividad hicieron cabañas, y en cabañas habitaron; porque desde los días de Josué hijo de Nun hasta aquel día, no habían hecho así los hijos de Israel. Y hubo alegría muy grande.

And all the congregation of them that were come again out of the captivity made booths, and sat under the booths: for since the days of Jeshua the son of Nun unto that day had not the children of Israel done so. And there was very great gladness.

All the assembly of those who had come back out of the captivity made temporary shelters and lived in the temporary shelters, for since the days of Joshua the son of Nun to that day the children of Israel had not done so. There was very great gladness.

Esdras leyó del Libro de la Ley de Dios todos los días, desde el primero hasta el último. Los israelitas celebraron la fiesta durante siete días, y el octavo día se reunieron en asamblea, como exigía la Ley.

Y leyó Esdras en el libro de la ley de Dios cada día, desde el primer día hasta el postrero; é hicieron la solemnidad por siete días, y al octavo día congregación, según el rito.
