1Y vino a los oídos del cananeo, rey de Arad, que vivía en el sur, que venía Israel por el camino de Atarim, y salió contra ellos y tomó a algunos de ellos como prisioneros.
2Entonces Israel hizo un juramento al Señor y dijo: Si entregas a este pueblo en mis manos, enviaré destrucción completa a todos sus pueblos.
3Y él Señor, en respuesta a la voz de Israel, entregó a los cananeos; y ellos y sus ciudades los destruyeron completamente, y ese lugar se llamó Horma.
4Luego continuaron desde el Monte Hor por el camino hacia el Mar Rojo, recorriendo la tierra de Edom: y el espíritu de la gente fue vencido por el cansancio en el camino.
5Y clamando contra Dios y contra Moisés, dijeron: ¿Por qué nos has sacado de Egipto para morir en la tierra baldía? Porque no hay pan ni agua, y este pan pobre es asqueroso para nosotros.
6Entonces el Señor envió serpientes venenosas entre la gente; y sus mordeduras causaron la muerte de muchos de los habitantes de Israel.
7Entonces el pueblo se acercó a Moisés y le dijo: Hemos hecho mal al clamar contra el Señor y contra ti: ora al Señor para que nos quite las serpientes. Y Moisés hizo oración por el pueblo.
8Entonces el Señor le dijo a Moisés: Haz una imagen de una serpiente y ponla en una asta, y cualquiera que haya sido herido por las serpientes, mirándola, se curará.
9Entonces Moisés hizo una serpiente de bronce y la puso sobre una asta; y cualquier persona que tuviera una mordedura de serpiente, después de mirar la serpiente de bronce, y vivía.
10Entonces los hijos de Israel siguieron y pusieron sus tiendas en Obot.
11Y de regreso de Obot, pusieron sus tiendas en Ije-abarim, en el desierto que está enfrente de Moab mirara al este.
12Y partieron de allí, levantaron sus tiendas en el valle de Zered.
13Desde allí siguieron y pusieron sus tiendas al otro lado del Arnón, que se encuentra en el desierto al borde de la tierra de los amorreos; para Arnon es la línea de división entre Moab y los amorreos:
14Como se dice en el libro de las Guerras del Señor, Vaheb en Sufa, y en los arroyos de arnón;
15La pendiente de los valles que bajan a las tiendas de campaña de Ar y tocan el borde de Moab.
16De allí se fueron a Beer, el manantial de agua que el Señor le dijo a Moisés: Haz que la gente se junte y yo les daré agua.
17Entonces Israel le dio voz a esta canción: Salta, pozo, hagámosle una canción.
18El pozo fue hecho por los jefes, profundizado por los líderes de la gente, con la vara de los legisladores y con sus bastones. Luego del desierto se fueron a Matana.
19Y de Matana a Nahaliel: y de Nahaliel a Bamot:
20Y desde Bamot hasta el valle en el campo abierto de Moab, y hasta la cima de Pisga mirando por encima de desierto.
21Entonces envió Israel hombres a Sehón, rey de los amorreos, diciendo:
22Déjame recorrer tu tierra: no iremos al campo ni a la vid, ni tomaremos el agua de los manantiales; Iremos por la carretera hasta que hayamos pasado los límites de su tierra.
23Y Seón no permitiría que Israel pasara por su tierra; pero reunió a todo su pueblo y salió contra Israel a las tierras del desierto, hasta Jahaza, para hacer la guerra a Israel.
24Pero Israel lo venció, y tomó toda su tierra desde Arnón hasta Jaboc, hasta el país de los hijos de Amón, porque el país de los hijos de Amón estaba fuertemente armado.
25E Israel tomó todas sus ciudades, viviendo en Hesbón y todas las ciudades y pequeños lugares de los amorreos.
26Porque Hesbón era la ciudad de Sehón, rey de los amorreos, que había hecho la guerra contra un rey anterior de Moab y le había quitado toda su tierra hasta el Arnón.
27Así que los creadores de dichos sabios dicen: Ven a Hesbón, construye la ciudad de Sehón y hazla fuerte:
28Porque salió un fuego de Hesbón, una llama de la ciudad de Sehón: para la destrucción de Ar en Moab y los señores de los lugares altos de Arnon.
29¡Ay de ti, oh Moab! pereciste, oh pueblo de Quemos: sus hijos han huido y sus hijas son prisioneras, en manos de Sehón, rey de los amorreos.
30Están heridos con nuestras flechas; La destrucción ha llegado a Hesbón, incluso a Dibón; y hemos destruido de la tierra de Nofa, extendiéndose hasta Medeba.
31Entonces Israel puso sus tiendas en la tierra de los amorreos.
32Entonces Moisés envió a los hombres a Jazer en secreto, y tomaron sus ciudades, expulsando a los amorreos que vivían allí.
33Luego se volvieron por el camino de Basán; y Og, rey de Basán, salió contra ellos con todo su pueblo, a la lucha en Edrei.
34Y él Señor dijo a Moisés: No le tengas miedo, porque lo he entregado en tus manos, con todo su pueblo y su tierra; haz con él lo que hiciste con Sehón, rey de los amorreos, en Hesbón.
35Así que lo vencieron a él, a sus hijos y a su pueblo, no dejaron a nadie con vida, y tomaron su tierra por su herencia.

1Y OYENDO el Cananeo, el rey de Arad, el cual habitaba al mediodía, que venía Israel por el camino de los centinelas, peleó con Israel, y tomó de él presa.
2Entonces Israel hizo voto á Jehová, y dijo: Si en efecto entregares á este pueblo en mi mano, yo destruiré sus ciudades.
3Y Jehová escuchó la voz de Israel, y entregó al Cananeo, y destruyólos á ellos y á sus ciudades; y llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Horma.
4Y partieron del monte de Hor, camino del mar Bermejo, para rodear la tierra de Edom; y abatióse el ánimo del pueblo por el camino.
5Y habló el pueblo contra Dios y Moisés: ¿Por qué nos hiciste subir de Egipto para que muramos en este desierto? que ni hay pan, ni agua, y nuestra alma tiene fastidio de este pan tan liviano.
6Y Jehová envió entre el pueblo serpientes ardientes, que mordían al pueblo: y murió mucho pueblo de Israel.
7Entonces el pueblo vino á Moisés, y dijeron: Pecado hemos por haber hablado contra Jehová, y contra ti: ruega á Jehová que quite de nosotros estas serpientes. Y Moisés oró por el pueblo.
8Y Jehová dijo á Moisés: Hazte una serpiente ardiente, y ponla sobre la bandera: y será que cualquiera que fuere mordido y mirare á ella, vivirá.
9Y Moisés hizo una serpiente de metal, y púsola sobre la bandera: y fué, que cuando alguna serpiente mordía á alguno, miraba á la serpiente de metal, y vivía.
10Y partieron los hijos de Israel, y asentaron campo en Oboth.
11Y partidos de Oboth, asentaron en Ije-abarim, en el desierto que está delante de Moab, al nacimiento del sol.
12Partidos de allí, asentaron en la arroyada de Zared.
13De allí movieron, y asentaron de la otra parte de Arnón, que está en el desierto, y que sale del término del Amorrheo; porque Arnón es término de Moab, entre Moab y el Amorrheo.
14Por tanto se dice en el libro de las batallas de Jehová: Lo que hizo en el mar Bermejo, y en los arroyos de Arnón:
15Y á la corriente de los arroyos que va á parar en Ar, y descansa en el término de Moab.
16Y de allí vinieron á Beer: este es el pozo del cual Jehová dijo á Moisés: Junta el pueblo, y les daré agua.
17Entonces cantó Israel esta canción: Sube, oh pozo; á él cantad:
18Pozo, el cual cavaron los señores; caváronlo los príncipes del pueblo, y el legislador, con sus bordones. Y del desierto vinieron á Mathana:
19Y de Mathana á Nahaliel: y de Nahaliel á Bamoth:
20Y de Bamoth al valle que está en los campos de Moab, y á la cumbre de Pisga, que mira á Jesimón.
21Y envió Israel embajadores á Sehón, rey de los Amorrheos, diciendo:
22Pasaré por tu tierra: no nos apartaremos por los labrados, ni por las viñas; no beberemos las aguas de los pozos: por el camino real iremos, hasta que pasemos tu término.
23Mas Sehón no dejó pasar á Israel por su término: antes juntó Sehón todo su pueblo, y salió contra Israel en el desierto: y vino á Jahaz, y peleó contra Israel.
24E hirióle Israel á filo de espada, y tomó su tierra desde Arnón hasta Jaboc, hasta los hijos de Ammón: porque el término de los hijos de Ammón era fuerte.
25Y tomó Israel todas estas ciudades: y habitó Israel en todas las ciudades del Amorrheo, en Hesbón y en todas sus aldeas.
26Porque Hesbón era la ciudad de Sehón, rey de los Amorrheos; el cual había tenido guerra antes con el rey de Moab, y tomado de su poder toda su tierra hasta Arnón.
27Por tanto, dicen los proverbistas: Venid á Hesbón, edifíquese y repárese la ciudad de Sehón:
28Que fuego salió de Hesbón, y llama de la ciudad de Sehón, y consumió á Ar de Moab, á los señores de los altos de Arnón.
29¡Ay de ti, Moab! Perecido has, pueblo de Chêmos: puso sus hijos en huída, y sus hijas en cautividad, por Sehón rey de los Amorrheos.
30Mas devastamos el reino de ellos; pereció Hesbón hasta Dibón, y destruimos hasta Nopha y Medeba.
31Así habitó Israel en la tierra del Amorrheo.
32Y envió Moisés á reconocer á Jazer; y tomaron sus aldeas, y echaron al Amorrheo que estaba allí.
33Y volvieron, y subieron camino de Basán, y salió contra ellos Og rey de Basán, él y todo su pueblo, para pelear en Edrei.
34Entonces Jehová dijo á Moisés: No le tengas miedo, que en tu mano lo he dado, á él y á todo su pueblo, y á su tierra; y harás de él como hiciste de Sehón, rey de los Amorrheos, que habitaba en Hesbón.
35E hirieron á él, y á sus hijos, y á toda su gente, sin que le quedara uno, y poseyeron su tierra.

1And when king Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt in the south, heard tell that Israel came by the way of the spies; then he fought against Israel, and took some of them prisoners.
2And Israel vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou wilt indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.
3And the LORD hearkened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities: and he called the name of the place Hormah.
4And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way.
5And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.
6And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
7Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
8And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.
9And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.
10And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in Oboth.
11And they journeyed from Oboth, and pitched at Ije-abarim, in the wilderness which is before Moab, toward the sunrising.
12From thence they removed, and pitched in the valley of Zared.
13From thence they removed, and pitched on the other side of Arnon, which is in the wilderness that cometh out of the coasts of the Amorites: for Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.
14Wherefore it is said in the book of the wars of the LORD, What he did in the Red sea, and in the brooks of Arnon,
15And at the stream of the brooks that goeth down to the dwelling of Ar, and lieth upon the border of Moab.
16And from thence they went to Beer: that is the well whereof the LORD spake unto Moses, Gather the people together, and I will give them water.
17Then Israel sang this song, Spring up, O well; sing ye unto it:
18The princes digged the well, the nobles of the people digged it, by the direction of the lawgiver, with their staves. And from the wilderness they went to Mattanah:
19And from Mattanah to Nahaliel: and from Nahaliel to Bamoth:
20And from Bamoth in the valley, that is in the country of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looketh toward Jeshimon.
21And Israel sent messengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, saying,
22Let me pass through thy land: we will not turn into the fields, or into the vineyards; we will not drink of the waters of the well: but we will go along by the king’s high way, until we be past thy borders.
23And Sihon would not suffer Israel to pass through his border: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness: and he came to Jahaz, and fought against Israel.
24And Israel smote him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from Arnon unto Jabbok, even unto the children of Ammon: for the border of the children of Ammon was strong.
25And Israel took all these cities: and Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all the villages thereof.
26For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even unto Arnon.
27Wherefore they that speak in proverbs say, Come into Heshbon, let the city of Sihon be built and prepared:
28For there is a fire gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon: it hath consumed Ar of Moab, and the lords of the high places of Arnon.
29Woe to thee, Moab! thou art undone, O people of Chemosh: he hath given his sons that escaped, and his daughters, into captivity unto Sihon king of the Amorites.
30We have shot at them; Heshbon is perished even unto Dibon, and we have laid them waste even unto Nophah, which reacheth unto Medeba.
31Thus Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites.
32And Moses sent to spy out Jaazer, and they took the villages thereof, and drove out the Amorites that were there.
33And they turned and went up by the way of Bashan: and Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he, and all his people, to the battle at Edrei.
34And the LORD said unto Moses, Fear him not: for I have delivered him into thy hand, and all his people, and his land; and thou shalt do to him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.
35So they smote him, and his sons, and all his people, until there was none left him alive: and they possessed his land.

1The Canaanite, the king of Arad, who lived in the South, heard that Israel came by the way of Atharim. He fought against Israel, and took some of them captive.
2Israel vowed a vow to the LORD, and said, “If you will indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.”
3The LORD listened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities. The name of the place was called Hormah.
4They traveled from Mount Hor by the way to the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom. The soul of the people was very discouraged because of the journey.
5The people spoke against God and against Moses: “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, there is no water, and our soul loathes this disgusting food!”
6The LORD sent venomous snakes among the people, and they bit the people. Many people of Israel died.
7The people came to Moses, and said, “We have sinned, because we have spoken against the LORD and against you. Pray to the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us.” Moses prayed for the people.
8The LORD said to Moses, “Make a venomous snake, and set it on a pole. It shall happen that everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.”
9Moses made a serpent of bronze, and set it on the pole. If a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked at the serpent of bronze, he lived.
10The children of Israel traveled, and encamped in Oboth.
11They traveled from Oboth, and encamped at Iyeabarim, in the wilderness which is before Moab, toward the sunrise.
12From there they traveled, and encamped in the valley of Zered.
13From there they traveled, and encamped on the other side of the Arnon, which is in the wilderness that comes out of the border of the Amorites; for the Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.
14Therefore it is said in The Book of the Wars of the LORD, “Vaheb in Suphah, the valleys of the Arnon,
15the slope of the valleys that incline toward the dwelling of Ar, leans on the border of Moab.”
16From there they traveled to Beer; that is the well of which the LORD said to Moses, “Gather the people together, and I will give them water.”
17Then Israel sang this song: “Spring up, well! Sing to it,
18the well, which the princes dug, which the nobles of the people dug, with the scepter, and with their poles.” From the wilderness they traveled to Mattanah;
19and from Mattanah to Nahaliel; and from Nahaliel to Bamoth;

21Israel sent messengers to Sihon king of the Amorites, saying,

25Israel took all these cities. Israel lived in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all its villages.
26For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even to the Arnon.
27Therefore those who speak in proverbs say, “Come to Heshbon. Let the city of Sihon be built and established;
28for a fire has gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon. It has devoured Ar of Moab, The lords of the high places of the Arnon.
29Woe to you, Moab! You are undone, people of Chemosh! He has given his sons as fugitives, and his daughters into captivity, to Sihon king of the Amorites.

32Moses sent to spy out Jazer. They took its villages, and drove out the Amorites who were there.
33They turned and went up by the way of Bashan. Og the king of Bashan went out against them, he and all his people, to battle at Edrei.
34The LORD said to Moses, “Don’t fear him, for I have delivered him into your hand, with all his people, and his land. You shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.”
35So they struck him, with his sons and all his people, until there were no survivors; and they possessed his land.
