Cependant, le Chananéen roi d'Arad, voisin du désert, apprit qu'Israël s'avançait par le chemin d'Atharin. Aussitôt, il prit les armes contre Israël, et il lui enleva quelques prisonniers.

Y OYENDO el Cananeo, el rey de Arad, el cual habitaba al mediodía, que venía Israel por el camino de los centinelas, peleó con Israel, y tomó de él presa.

And when king Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt in the south, heard tell that Israel came by the way of the spies; then he fought against Israel, and took some of them prisoners.

Israël fit alors un vœu au Seigneur, disant : Si vous me livrez ce peuple qui est sous ma main, je l'anathématiserai lui et ses villes.

Entonces Israel hizo voto á Jehová, y dijo: Si en efecto entregares á este pueblo en mi mano, yo destruiré sus ciudades.

And Israel vowed a vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou wilt indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.

Le Seigneur ouït la voix d'Israël, et il lui livra le Chananéen ; Israël, de son côté, l'anathématisa lui et ses villes, et il donna à ce lieu le nom d'Anathème.

Y Jehová escuchó la voz de Israel, y entregó al Cananeo, y destruyólos á ellos y á sus ciudades; y llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Horma.

Ils levèrent ensuite leur camp de la montagne de Hor pour quitter le chemin de la mer Rouge et tourner autour d'Edom ; mais dans ce voyage le peuple défaillit,

Y partieron del monte de Hor, camino del mar Bermejo, para rodear la tierra de Edom; y abatióse el ánimo del pueblo por el camino.

And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way.

Il injuria Dieu et Moïse, disant : Qu'allons-nous devenir ? Tu nous a tirés de l'Egypte pour nous faire mourir dans le désert où il n'y a ni pain ni eau ; notre âme se révolte contre cette maigre manne dont nous sommes nourris.

Y habló el pueblo contra Dios y Moisés: ¿Por qué nos hiciste subir de Egipto para que muramos en este desierto? que ni hay pan, ni agua, y nuestra alma tiene fastidio de este pan tan liviano.

And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.

The people spoke against God and against Moses: “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread, there is no water, and our soul loathes this disgusting food!”

Alors, le Seigneur envoya contre le peuple des serpents dont le venin était mortel, et ils mordirent le peuple, et une multitude des fils d'Israël périt.

Y Jehová envió entre el pueblo serpientes ardientes, que mordían al pueblo: y murió mucho pueblo de Israel.

And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.

Et le peuple alla trouver Moïse, disant : Nous avons péché ; nous avons injurié le Seigneur et toi ; prie donc le Seigneur qu'il éloigne de nous les serpents.

Entonces el pueblo vino á Moisés, y dijeron: Pecado hemos por haber hablado contra Jehová, y contra ti: ruega á Jehová que quite de nosotros estas serpientes. Y Moisés oró por el pueblo.

Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the LORD, and against thee; pray unto the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.

The people came to Moses, and said, “We have sinned, because we have spoken against the LORD and against you. Pray to the LORD, that he take away the serpents from us.” Moses prayed for the people.

Moïse pria le Seigneur pour le peuple, et le Seigneur dit à Moïse : Fais un serpent, et pose-le au haut d'une enseigne ; quand un serpent mordra un homme, quiconque sera mordu et regardera ce signe, vivra.

Y Jehová dijo á Moisés: Hazte una serpiente ardiente, y ponla sobre la bandera: y será que cualquiera que fuere mordido y mirare á ella, vivirá.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.

The LORD said to Moses, “Make a venomous snake, and set it on a pole. It shall happen that everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.”

Moïse fit donc un serpent d'airain qu'il plaça au haut d'une enseigne, et quand un serpent mordait un homme, celui-ci regardait le serpent d'airain, et il vivait.

And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.

Les fils d'Israël se mirent en marche, et ils s'arrêtèrent en Oboth.

Y partieron los hijos de Israel, y asentaron campo en Oboth.

And they journeyed from Oboth, and pitched at Ije-abarim, in the wilderness which is before Moab, toward the sunrising.

C'est pourquoi il est écrit en un livre : La guerre du Seigneur a embrasé Zoob et les torrents d'Arnon,

Et il a placé auprès des torrents la demeure de Ar, qui est contiguë aux frontières de Moab.

Y á la corriente de los arroyos que va á parar en Ar, y descansa en el término de Moab.

And at the stream of the brooks that goeth down to the dwelling of Ar, and lieth upon the border of Moab.

the slope of the valleys that incline toward the dwelling of Ar, leans on the border of Moab.”

Or, il y a en ce lieu un puits : c'est le puits au sujet duquel le Seigneur dit à Moïse : Rassemble le peuple, et je leur donnerai de l'eau, et ils boiront.

Y de allí vinieron á Beer: este es el pozo del cual Jehová dijo á Moisés: Junta el pueblo, y les daré agua.

And from thence they went to Beer: that is the well whereof the LORD spake unto Moses, Gather the people together, and I will give them water.

Alors, Israël chanta ce cantique autour du puits : Célébrez le puits.

Les chefs l'ont creusé ; les rois des nations, durant leur règne, tandis qu'ils étaient les maîtres, l'ont revêtu de pierres de taille. Après cela, le peuple d'Israël alla du puits à Manthanaïn ;

The princes digged the well, the nobles of the people digged it, by the direction of the lawgiver, with their staves. And from the wilderness they went to Mattanah:

the well, which the princes dug, which the nobles of the people dug, with the scepter, and with their poles.” From the wilderness they traveled to Mattanah;

De Bamoth à Janin, en la plaine de Moab, que l'on voit de la cime du roc escarpé regardant le désert.

Y de Bamoth al valle que está en los campos de Moab, y á la cumbre de Pisga, que mira á Jesimón.

And from Bamoth in the valley, that is in the country of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looketh toward Jeshimon.

Alors, Moïse envoya les anciens à Séhon, roi des Amorrhéens, avec des paroles pacifiques, disant :

Y envió Israel embajadores á Sehón, rey de los Amorrheos, diciendo:

And Israel sent messengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, saying,

Nous passerons par ton territoire et nous suivrons la route ; nous ne nous écarterons ni dans les champs, ni dans les vignes ; nous ne boirons point d'eau de ton puits ; nous suivrons le grand chemin jusqu'à ce que nous ayons dépassé tes limites.

Pasaré por tu tierra: no nos apartaremos por los labrados, ni por las viñas; no beberemos las aguas de los pozos: por el camino real iremos, hasta que pasemos tu término.

Let me pass through thy land: we will not turn into the fields, or into the vineyards; we will not drink of the waters of the well: but we will go along by the king’s high way, until we be past thy borders.

“Let me pass through your land. We will not turn away into field or vineyard. We will not drink of the water of the wells. We will go by the king’s highway, until we have passed your border.”

Mais Séhon ne permit point à Israël de franchir ses frontières ; il rassembla tout son peuple, et il sortit pour se ranger en bataille devant Israël, dans le désert ; il vint à Jasa, et il se rangea en bataille devant Israël.

Mas Sehón no dejó pasar á Israel por su término: antes juntó Sehón todo su pueblo, y salió contra Israel en el desierto: y vino á Jahaz, y peleó contra Israel.

And Sihon would not suffer Israel to pass through his border: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness: and he came to Jahaz, and fought against Israel.

Israël le vainquit avec grand carnage, et se rendit maître de son territoire depuis Arnon jusqu'à Jéboc, sur les frontières des fils d'Ammon, car Jazer est ville frontière des Ammonites.

E hirióle Israel á filo de espada, y tomó su tierra desde Arnón hasta Jaboc, hasta los hijos de Ammón: porque el término de los hijos de Ammón era fuerte.

And Israel smote him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from Arnon unto Jabbok, even unto the children of Ammon: for the border of the children of Ammon was strong.

Car Esebon était la ville de Séhon, roi des Amorrhéens ; il avait d'abord fait la guerre au roi de Moab, et il avait pris tout son territoire depuis Aroer jusqu'à l'Arnon.

Porque Hesbón era la ciudad de Sehón, rey de los Amorrheos; el cual había tenido guerra antes con el rey de Moab, y tomado de su poder toda su tierra hasta Arnón.

For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even unto Arnon.

Car le feu est sorti d'Esebon, c'était la flamme de la guerre de Séhon, et elle a dévoré jusqu'à Moab, elle a dévoré les colonnes d'Arnon.

Que fuego salió de Hesbón, y llama de la ciudad de Sehón, y consumió á Ar de Moab, á los señores de los altos de Arnón.

For there is a fire gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon: it hath consumed Ar of Moab, and the lords of the high places of Arnon.

Malheur à toi, Moab ; tu as péri, peuple de Chamos ; leurs fils se sont vendus pour vivre, et leurs filles sont captives du roi des Amorrhéens Séhon.

¡Ay de ti, Moab! Perecido has, pueblo de Chêmos: puso sus hijos en huída, y sus hijas en cautividad, por Sehón rey de los Amorrheos.

Woe to thee, Moab! thou art undone, O people of Chemosh: he hath given his sons that escaped, and his daughters, into captivity unto Sihon king of the Amorites.

Leur race est à jamais détruite d'Esebon à Dibon ; et les femmes ont encore allumé le feu dans Moab.

Moïse envoya reconnaître Jazer ; ils la prirent avec ses bourgs, et ils chassèrent les Amorrhéens qui l'habitaient.

A leur retour, ils prirent la route qui conduit à Basan, et Og, roi de Basan, sortit à leur rencontre avec tout son peuple, pour combattre en Edraï.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Fear him not: for I have delivered him into thy hand, and all his people, and his land; and thou shalt do to him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.

The LORD said to Moses, “Don’t fear him, for I have delivered him into your hand, with all his people, and his land. You shall do to him as you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.”
