1Cuando Balaam vio que el Señor quería bendecir a Israel, eligió no usar la adivinación como lo había hecho anteriormente. En su lugar se volvió hacia el desierto,
2y al mirar a Israel acampado allí según sus respectivas tribus, el Espíritu de Dios vino sobre él.
3Hizo una declaración, diciendo:
4“Esta es la profecía de Balaam, hijo de Beor, la profecía de un hombre que ve con los ojos bien abiertos, la profecía de uno que oye las palabras de Dios, que ve la visión dada por el Todopoderoso, que se inclina con respeto con los ojos abiertos.
5“¡Qué bien puestas tus tiendas, Jacob; los lugares donde vives, Israel!
6Parecen valles boscosos, como jardines junto a un río, como árboles de áloe que el Señor ha plantado, como cedros a la orilla del agua.
7Los israelitas derramarán cubos de agua; sus descendientes tendrán mucha agua. Su rey será más grande que el rey Agag; su reino será glorioso.
8Dios los sacó de Egipto con gran poder, tan fuerte como un buey, destruyendo a las naciones enemigas, rompiéndoles los huesos, atravesándolos con flechas.
9Son como un león que se agacha y se acuesta. Son como una leona que nadie se atreve a molestar. Quienes los bendigan serán bendecidos; y quienes los maldigan serán malditos”.
10Balac se enfadó con Balaam, y se golpeó los puños. Le dijo a Balaam, “Te traje aquí para maldecir a mis enemigos, ¡y ahora mira! Sigues bendiciéndolos, haciéndolo tres veces.
11¡Vete ahora mismo! ¡Vete a casa! Prometí pagarte bien, pero el Señor se ha asegurado de que no recibirás ningún pago”.
12Pero Balaam le dijo a Balac: “¿No le expliqué ya a los mensajeros que enviaste
13que aunque me dieras todo tu palacio lleno de plata y oro, no podría hacer nada de lo que quisiera ni desobedecer el mandato del Señor mi Dios de ninguna manera? Sólo puedo decir lo que el Señor me dice.
14¡Escucha! Ahora vuelvo a casa con mi propio pueblo, pero primero déjame advertirte lo que estos israelitas van a hacer con tu pueblo en el futuro”.
15Entonces Balaam hizo una declaración, diciendo: “Esta es la profecía de Balaam, hijo de Beor, la profecía de un hombre con los ojos bien abiertos
16la profecía de uno que escucha las palabras de Dios, que recibe el conocimiento del Altísimo, que ve la visión dada por el Todopoderoso, que se inclina con respeto con los ojos abiertos.
17“Lo veo, pero esto no es ahora. Lo observo, pero esto no está cerca. En el futuro, un líder como una estrella vendrá de Jacob, un gobernante con un cetro llegará al poder desde Israel. Aplastará las cabezas de los moabitas, y destruirá a todo el pueblo de Set.
18El país de Edom será conquistado, su enemigo Seir serán conquistados, y los israelitas saldrán victoriosos.
19Un gobernante de Jacob vendrá y destruirá a los que queden en la ciudad”.
20Balaam dirigió su atención a los amalecitas y dio esta declaración sobre ellos, diciendo, “Amalec fue el primero entre las naciones, pero terminarán siendo destruidos”.
21Dirigió su atención a los ceneos y dio esta declaración sobre ellos, diciendo, “Donde vives está seguro y protegido, como un nido en la cara de un acantilado.
22Pero Caín será quemado cuando Asiria los conquiste”.
23Luego Balaam hizo otra declaración, diciendo: “¡Es una tragedia! ¿Quién puede sobrevivir cuando Dios hace esto?
24Se enviarán barcos desde Chipre para atacar Asiria y Eber, pero también serán destruidos permanentemente”.
25Entonces Balaam se marchó y volvió a su país, y Balac se marchó también.

1Y COMO vió Balaam que parecía bien á Jehová que él bendijese á Israel, no fué, como la primera y segunda vez, á encuentro de agüeros, sino que puso su rostro hacia el desierto;
2Y alzando sus ojos, vió á Israel alojado por sus tribus; y el espíritu de Dios vino sobre él.
3Entonces tomó su parábola, y dijo: Dijo Balaam hijo de Beor, y dijo el varón de ojos abiertos:
4Dijo el que oyó los dichos de Dios, el que vió la visión del Omnipotente; caído, mas abiertos los ojos:
5¡Cuán hermosas son tus tiendas, oh Jacob, tus habitaciones, oh Israel!
6Como arroyos están extendidas, como huertos junto al río, como lináloes plantados por Jehová, como cedros junto á las aguas.
7De sus manos destilarán aguas, y su simiente será en muchas aguas: y ensalzarse ha su rey más que Agag, y su reino será ensalzado.
8Dios lo sacó de Egipto; tiene fuerzas como de unicornio: comerá á las gentes sus enemigas, y desmenuzará sus huesos, y asaeteará con sus saetas.
9Se encorvará para echarse como león, y como leona; ¿quién lo despertará? Benditos los que te bendijeren, y malditos los que te maldijeren.
10Entonces se encendió la ira de Balac contra Balaam, y batiendo sus palmas le dijo: Para maldecir á mis enemigos te he llamado, y he aquí los has resueltamente bendecido ya tres veces.
11Húyete, por tanto, ahora á tu lugar: yo dije que te honraría, mas he aquí que Jehová te ha privado de honra.
12Y Balaam le respondió: ¿No lo declaré yo también á tus mensajeros que me enviaste, diciendo:
13Si Balac me diese su casa llena de plata y oro, yo no podré traspasar el dicho de Jehová para hacer cosa buena ni mala de mi arbitrio; mas lo que Jehová hablare, eso diré yo?
14He aquí yo me voy ahora á mi pueblo: por tanto, ven, te indicaré lo que este pueblo ha de hacer á tu pueblo en los postrimeros días.
15Y tomó su parábola, y dijo: Dijo Balaam hijo de Beor, dijo el varón de ojos abiertos:
16Dijo el que oyó los dichos de Jehová, y el que sabe la ciencia del Altísimo, el que vió la visión del Omnipotente; caído, mas abiertos los ojos:
17Verélo, mas no ahora: lo miraré, mas no de cerca: saldrá ESTRELLA de Jacob, y levantaráse cetro de Israel, y herirá los cantones de Moab, y destruirá á todos los hijos de Seth.
18Y será tomada Edom, será también tomada Seir por sus enemigos, e Israel se portará varonilmente.
19Y el de Jacob se enseñoreará, y destruirá de la ciudad lo que quedare.
20Y viendo á Amalec, tomó su parábola, y dijo: Amalec, cabeza de gentes; mas su postrimería perecerá para siempre.
21Y viendo al Cineo, tomó su parábola, y dijo: Fuerte es tu habitación, pon en la peña tu nido:
22Que el Cineo será echado, cuando Assur te llevará cautivo.
23Todavía tomó su parábola, y dijo: ¡Ay! ¿quién vivirá cuando hiciere Dios estas cosas?
24Y vendrán navíos de la costa de Cittim, y afligirán á Assur, afligirán también á Eber: mas él también perecerá para siempre.
25Entonces se levantó Balaam, y se fué, y volvióse á su lugar: y también Balac se fué por su camino.

1And when Balaam saw that it pleased the LORD to bless Israel, he went not, as at other times, to seek for enchantments, but he set his face toward the wilderness.
2And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.
3And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:
4He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:
5How goodly are thy tents, O Jacob, and thy tabernacles, O Israel!
6As the valleys are they spread forth, as gardens by the river’s side, as the trees of lign aloes which the LORD hath planted, and as cedar trees beside the waters.
7He shall pour the water out of his buckets, and his seed shall be in many waters, and his king shall be higher than Agag, and his kingdom shall be exalted.
8God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows.
9He couched, he lay down as a lion, and as a great lion: who shall stir him up? Blessed is he that blesseth thee, and cursed is he that curseth thee.
10And Balak’s anger was kindled against Balaam, and he smote his hands together: and Balak said unto Balaam, I called thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast altogether blessed them these three times.
11Therefore now flee thou to thy place: I thought to promote thee unto great honour; but, lo, the LORD hath kept thee back from honour.
12And Balaam said unto Balak, Spake I not also to thy messengers which thou sentest unto me, saying,
13If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I cannot go beyond the commandment of the LORD, to do either good or bad of mine own mind; but what the LORD saith, that will I speak?
14And now, behold, I go unto my people: come therefore, and I will advertise thee what this people shall do to thy people in the latter days.
15And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said:
16He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open:
17I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.
18And Edom shall be a possession, Seir also shall be a possession for his enemies; and Israel shall do valiantly.
19Out of Jacob shall come he that shall have dominion, and shall destroy him that remaineth of the city.
20And when he looked on Amalek, he took up his parable, and said, Amalek was the first of the nations; but his latter end shall be that he perish for ever.
21And he looked on the Kenites, and took up his parable, and said, Strong is thy dwellingplace, and thou puttest thy nest in a rock.
22Nevertheless the Kenite shall be wasted, until Asshur shall carry thee away captive.
23And he took up his parable, and said, Alas, who shall live when God doeth this!
24And ships shall come from the coast of Chittim, and shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber, and he also shall perish for ever.
25And Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place: and Balak also went his way.

2Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel dwelling according to their tribes; and the Spirit of God came on him.
3He took up his parable, and said, “Balaam the son of Beor says, the man whose eyes are open says;
4he says, who hears the words of God, who sees the vision of the Almighty, falling down, and having his eyes open:
5How goodly are your tents, Jacob, and your dwellings, Israel!
6As valleys they are spread out, as gardens by the riverside, as aloes which the LORD has planted, as cedar trees beside the waters.
7Water shall flow from his buckets. His seed shall be in many waters. His king shall be higher than Agag. His kingdom shall be exalted.
8God brings him out of Egypt. He has as it were the strength of the wild ox. He shall consume the nations his adversaries, shall break their bones in pieces, and pierce them with his arrows.
9He couched, he lay down as a lion, as a lioness; who shall rouse him up? Everyone who blesses you is blessed. Everyone who curses you is cursed.”
10Balak’s anger burned against Balaam, and he struck his hands together. Balak said to Balaam, “I called you to curse my enemies, and, behold, you have altogether blessed them these three times.
11Therefore, flee to your place, now! I thought to promote you to great honor; but, behold, the LORD has kept you back from honor.”
12Balaam said to Balak, “Didn’t I also tell your messengers whom you sent to me, saying,
13‘If Balak would give me his house full of silver and gold, I can’t go beyond the LORD’s word, to do either good or bad from my own mind. I will say what the LORD says’?
14Now, behold, I go to my people. Come, I will inform you what this people shall do to your people in the latter days.”
15He took up his parable, and said, “Balaam the son of Beor says, the man whose eyes are open says;
16he says, who hears the words of God, knows the knowledge of the Most High, and who sees the vision of the Almighty, falling down, and having his eyes open:
17I see him, but not now. I see him, but not near. A star will come out of Jacob. A scepter will rise out of Israel, and shall strike through the corners of Moab, and crush all the sons of Sheth.
18Edom shall be a possession. Seir, his enemy, also shall be a possession, while Israel does valiantly.
19Out of Jacob shall one have dominion, and shall destroy the remnant from the city.”
20He looked at Amalek, and took up his parable, and said, “Amalek was the first of the nations, but his latter end shall come to destruction.”
21He looked at the Kenite, and took up his parable, and said, “Your dwelling place is strong. Your nest is set in the rock.
22Nevertheless Kain shall be wasted, until Asshur carries you away captive.”
23He took up his parable, and said, “Alas, who shall live when God does this?
24But ships shall come from the coast of Kittim. They shall afflict Asshur, and shall afflict Eber. He also shall come to destruction.”
25Balaam rose up, and went and returned to his place; and Balak also went his way.
