Le peuple demeura en Settim, et il se souilla par la prostitution des filles de Moab.

Y REPOSÓ Israel en Sittim, y el pueblo empezó á fornicar con las hijas de Moab:

And Israel abode in Shittim, and the people began to commit whoredom with the daughters of Moab.

Israel stayed in Shittim; and the people began to play the prostitute with the daughters of Moab;

Elles le convièrent aux sacrifices de leurs idoles ; il mangea de leurs victimes, et il adora leurs dieux.

Las cuales llamaron al pueblo á los sacrificios de sus dioses: y el pueblo comió, é inclinóse á sus dioses.

And they called the people unto the sacrifices of their gods: and the people did eat, and bowed down to their gods.

Israël fut consacré à Belphégor, et, en son cœur, le Seigneur s'irrita contre lui.

Y allegóse el pueblo á Baal-peor; y el furor de Jehová se encendió contra Israel.

And Israel joined himself unto Baal-peor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel.

Le Seigneur dit à Moïse : Prends tous les chefs du peuple, et, à la lumière du soleil, fais un exemple devant le Seigneur ; alors, la colère du Seigneur se détournera d'Israël.

Y Jehová dijo á Moisés: Toma todos los príncipes del pueblo, y ahórcalos á Jehová delante del sol; y la ira del furor de Jehová se apartará de Israel.

And the LORD said unto Moses, Take all the heads of the people, and hang them up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel.

The LORD said to Moses, “Take all the chiefs of the people, and hang them up to the LORD before the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may turn away from Israel.”

Moïse dit donc aux tribus d'Israël : Tuez ceux de vos frères qui sont consacrés à Belphégor.

Entonces Moisés dijo á los jueces de Israel: Matad cada uno á aquellos de los suyos que se han allegado á Baal-peor.

And Moses said unto the judges of Israel, Slay ye every one his men that were joined unto Baal-peor.

Ce que voyant Phinéès, fils d'Eléazar, fils du grand prêtre Aaron, il se leva du milieu de l'assemblée, et prit à la main une javeline,

Y viólo Phinees, hijo de Eleazar, hijo de Aarón el sacerdote, y levantóse de en medio de la congregación, y tomó una lanza en su mano:

And when Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, saw it, he rose up from among the congregation, and took a javelin in his hand;

Et il entra dans la chambre sur les pas de l'Israélite, et il perça l'homme et la femme, et celle-ci eut les entrailles déchirées ; et la plaie qui affligeait Israël cessa.

Y fué tras el varón de Israel á la tienda, y alanceólos á ambos, al varón de Israel, y á la mujer por su vientre. Y cesó la mortandad de los hijos de Israel.

Cette plaie avait fait périr vingt-quatre mille âmes.

Phinéès, fils d'Eléazar, fils du grand prêtre Aaron, vient d'apaiser ma colère et de la détourner des fils d'Israël, contre lesquels je suis plein de jalousie ; je n'ai pas exterminé les fils d'Israël, quoique je fusse jaloux.

Phinees, hijo de Eleazar, hijo de Aarón el sacerdote, ha hecho tornar mi furor de los hijos de Israel, llevado de celo entre ellos: por lo cual yo no he consumido en mi celo á los hijos de Israel.

Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, hath turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, while he was zealous for my sake among them, that I consumed not the children of Israel in my jealousy.

“Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, has turned my wrath away from the children of Israel, in that he was jealous with my jealousy among them, so that I didn’t consume the children of Israel in my jealousy.

Répète ceci : J'accorde à Phinéès une alliance de paix.

Cette alliance sacerdotale sera perpétuelle pour lui et sa postérité, parce qu'il a été zélé pour son Dieu, et qu'il l'a apaisé en faveur des fils d'Israël.

L'Israélite, frappé avec la Madianite, se nommait Zambri ; il était fils de Salmon, l'un des chefs de famille de la tribu de Siméon.

Et la Madianite s'appelait Cozbi ; elle était fille de Sur, chef de la nation d'Ommoth, qui est une famille issue de Madian.

Y el nombre de la mujer Madianita muerta, era Cozbi, hija de Zur, príncipe de pueblos, padre de familia en Madián.

And the name of the Midianitish woman that was slain was Cozbi, the daughter of Zur; he was head over a people, and of a chief house in Midian.

Et le Seigneur parla à Moïse, disant : Parle aux fils d'Israël, dis-leur :

Y Jehová habló á Moisés, diciendo:

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

Soyez ennemis des Madianites ; frappez-les,

Hostilizaréis á los Madianitas, y los heriréis:

Vex the Midianites, and smite them:

“Harass the Midianites, and strike them;

Parce qu'avec leurs ruses ils sont vos ennemis ; ils vous ont trompés par le moyen de Phégor et de Cozbi, fille d'un chef de Madian, leur sœur, celle qui a été frappée le jour de la plaie que vous avait attirée Phégor.

Por cuanto ellos os afligieron á vosotros con sus ardides, con que os han engañado en el negocio de Peor, y en el negocio de Cozbi, hija del príncipe de Madián, su hermana, la cual fué muerta el día de la mortandad por causa de Peor.

For they vex you with their wiles, wherewith they have beguiled you in the matter of Peor, and in the matter of Cozbi, the daughter of a prince of Midian, their sister, which was slain in the day of the plague for Peor’s sake.

for they harassed you with their wiles, wherein they have deceived you in the matter of Peor, and in the incident regarding Cozbi, the daughter of the prince of Midian, their sister, who was slain on the day of the plague in the matter of Peor.”
