Abdías 1

La visión de Abdías. Esto es lo que el Señor ha dicho acerca de Edom: Hemos recibido noticias del Señor, y se ha enviado un representante entre las naciones, diciendo: ¡Levántense! y hagamos la guerra contra ella.

VISIÓN de Abdías. El Señor Jehová ha dicho así cuanto á Edom: Oído hemos el pregón de Jehová, y mensajero es enviado á las gentes. Levantaos, y levantémonos contra ella en batalla.

The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.

The vision of Obadiah. This is what the Lord GOD says about Edom. We have heard news from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the nations, saying, “Arise, and let’s rise up against her in battle.

Mira, te he hecho pequeño entre las naciones: eres muy menospreciado.

He aquí, pequeño te he hecho entre las gentes; abatido eres tú en gran manera.

Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised.

Behold, I have made you small among the nations. You are greatly despised.

Has sido engañado por el orgullo de tu corazón, oh tú, cuyo lugar de vida está en las cuevas de la roca, cuya casa está en lo alto; quien dijo en su corazón: ¿Quién me hará bajar a la tierra?

La soberbia de tu corazón te ha engañado, tú que moras en las hendiduras de las peñas, en tu altísima morada; que dices en tu corazón: ¿Quién me derribará á tierra?

The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high, who says in his heart, ‘Who will bring me down to the ground?’

Aunque subas a lo alto como un águila, aunque tu casa esté colocada entre las estrellas, te haré descender desde allí, dice el Señor.

Si te encaramares como águila, y si entre las estrellas pusieres tu nido, de ahí te derribaré, dice Jehová.

Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD.

Though you mount on high as the eagle, and though your nest is set among the stars, I will bring you down from there,” says the LORD.

Si vinieran ladrones, o robadores de noche, cómo quedarías destruido! ¿no robarían hasta que tuvieran lo suficiente? si vinieran los cortadores de uvas, ¿no dejarían racimos?

Si ladrones vinieran á ti, ó robadores de noche (¡cómo has sido destruído!) ¿no hurtaran lo que les bastase? Pues si entraran á ti vendimiadores, aun dejaran algún rebusco.

If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night, (how art thou cut off!) would they not have stolen till they had enough? if the grapegatherers came to thee, would they not leave some grapes?

“If thieves came to you, if robbers by night—oh, what disaster awaits you—wouldn’t they only steal until they had enough? If grape pickers came to you, wouldn’t they leave some gleaning grapes?

¡Cómo son escudriñadas las cosas de Esaú! ¡Cómo se buscan sus tesoros escondidos!

¡Cómo fueron escudriñadas las cosas de Esaú! sus cosas escondidas fueron buscadas.

How are the things of Esau searched out! how are his hidden things sought up!

How Esau will be ransacked! How his hidden treasures are sought out!

Todos tus hombres aliados te engañaran, te echaron hasta la frontera de la tierra; los hombres que estaban en paz contigo te han vencido; los que comen contigo tenderán emboscada contra ti; no hay en él entendimiento.

Hasta el término te hicieron llegar todos tus aliados; te han engañado tus pacíficos, prevalecieron contra ti; los que comían tu pan, pusieron el lazo debajo de ti: no hay en él entendimiento.

All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; they that eat thy bread have laid a wound under thee: there is none understanding in him.

All the men of your alliance have brought you on your way, even to the border. The men who were at peace with you have deceived you, and prevailed against you. Friends who eat your bread lay a snare under you. There is no understanding in him.”

¿No, en ese día, dice el Señor, quitaré a los sabios de Edom, y la sabiduría del monte de Esaú?

¿No haré que perezcan en aquel día, dice Jehová, los sabios de Edom, y la prudencia del monte de Esaú?

Shall I not in that day, saith the LORD, even destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau?

“Won’t I in that day”, says the LORD, “destroy the wise men out of Edom, and understanding out of the mountain of Esau?

Y tus hombres de guerra, oh Temán, serán vencidos por el miedo, para que cada uno de ellos sea cortado del monte de Esaú.

Y tus valientes, oh Temán, serán quebrantados; porque todo hombre será talado del monte de Esaú por el estrago.

And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter.

Your mighty men, Teman, will be dismayed, to the end that everyone may be cut off from the mountain of Esau by slaughter.

Debido a que fuiste la causa de una muerte violenta y por tu cruel comportamiento con tu hermano Jacob, estarás cubierto de vergüenza y quedarás aislado para siempre.

Por la injuria de tu hermano Jacob te cubrirá vergüenza, y serás talado para siempre.

For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.

For the violence done to your brother Jacob, shame will cover you, and you will be cut off forever.

Porque estabas allí observando cuando hombres de otras tierras le quitaron sus bienes, y hombres extraños entraron por sus puertas y pusieron el destino de Jerusalén a la decisión del azar; eras como uno de ellos.

El día que estando tú delante, llevaban extraños cautivo su ejército, y los extraños entraban por sus puertas, y echaban suertes sobre Jerusalem, tú también eras como uno de ellos.

In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.

In the day that you stood on the other side, in the day that strangers carried away his substance and foreigners entered into his gates and cast lots for Jerusalem, even you were like one of them.

No debiste ver con placer el mal día de tu hermano, el día de su destino, y no debiste alegrarte por los hijos de Judá el día de su destrucción, ni debiste burlarte el día de su angustia.

Pues no debiste tú estar mirando en el día de tu hermano, el día en que fué extrañado: no te habías de haber alegrado de los hijos de Judá en el día que se perdieron, ni habías de ensanchar tu boca en el día de la angustia:

But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.

But don’t look down on your brother in the day of his disaster, and don’t rejoice over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction. Don’t speak proudly in the day of distress.

No debiste entrar por las puertas de mi pueblo el día de su caída; no debiste mirar con agrado sus problemas el día de su caída, ni debiste robar sus bienes el día de su caída.

No habías de haber entrado por la puerta de mi pueblo en el día de su quebrantamiento; no, no habías tú de haber mirado su mal el día de su quebranto, ni haber echado mano á sus bienes el día de su calamidad.

Thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yea, thou shouldest not have looked on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity;

Don’t enter into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity. Don’t look down on their affliction in the day of their calamity, neither seize their wealth on the day of their calamity.

Y no debiste ocupar tu lugar en la encrucijada, matando a su pueblo que huía; y no debiste entregar a los que todavía estaban allí en el día de la angustia.

Tampoco habías de haberte parado en las encrucijadas, para matar los que de ellos escapasen; ni habías tú de haber entregado los que quedaban en el día de angustia.

Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that did escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress.

Don’t stand in the crossroads to cut off those of his who escape. Don’t deliver up those of his who remain in the day of distress.

Porque el día del Señor viene pronto sobre todas las naciones; como tú lo has hecho, se te hará contigo; la recompensa de tus actos vendrá sobre tu cabeza.

Porque cercano está el día de Jehová sobre todas las gentes: como tú hiciste se hará contigo: tu galardón volverá sobre tu cabeza.

For the day of the LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head.

For the day of the LORD is near all the nations! As you have done, it will be done to you. Your deeds will return upon your own head.

Porque como has estado bebiendo en mi santo monte, así seguirán bebiendo todas las naciones sin fin; seguirán bebiendo y el vino les caerá por la garganta, y desaparecerán como si nunca hubieran estado.

De la manera que vosotros bebisteis en mi santo monte, beberán todas las gentes de continuo; beberán, y engullirán, y serán como si no hubieran sido.

For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.

For as you have drunk on my holy mountain, so all the nations will drink continually. Yes, they will drink, swallow down, and will be as though they had not been.

Pero en el monte de Sión, algunos serán salvados, y será santo; y los hijos de Jacob tomarán su herencia.

Mas en el monte de Sión habrá salvamento, y será santidad, y la casa de Jacob, poseerá sus posesiones.

But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.

But in Mount Zion, there will be those who escape, and it will be holy. The house of Jacob will possess their possessions.

Y los hijos de Jacob serán un fuego y los de José una llama, y los hijos de Esaú serán rastrojo, quemados por ellos hasta que todo se haya ido; y no habrá gente viviendo en Esaú; porque el Señor lo ha dicho.

Y la casa de Jacob será fuego, y la casa de José será llama, y la casa de Esaú estopa, y los quemarán, y los consumirán; ni aun reliquia quedará en la casa de Esaú, porque Jehová lo habló.

And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it.

The house of Jacob will be a fire, the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble. They will burn among them and devour them. There will not be any remaining to the house of Esau.” Indeed, the LORD has spoken.

Y tomarán el sur, y las tierras bajas, y el país de Efraín y Galaad, como su herencia.

Y los del mediodía poseerán el monte de Esaú, y los llanos de los Palestinos; poseerán también los campos de Ephraim, y los campos de Samaria; y Benjamín á Galaad.

And they of the south shall possess the mount of Esau; and they of the plain the Philistines: and they shall possess the fields of Ephraim, and the fields of Samaria: and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.

Those of the South will possess the mountain of Esau, and those of the lowland, the Philistines. They will possess the field of Ephraim, and the field of Samaria. Benjamin will possess Gilead.

Y los de los hijos de Israel que fueron los primeros en ser llevados prisioneros, tendrán su herencia entre los cananeos hasta Sarepta; y los que fueron sacados de Jerusalén, que están en Sefarad, tendrán las ciudades del sur.

Y los cautivos de aqueste ejército de los hijos de Israel poseerán lo de los Cananeos hasta Sarepta; y los cautivos de Jerusalem, que están en Sepharad, poseerán las ciudades del mediodía.

And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel shall possess that of the Canaanites, even unto Zarephath; and the captivity of Jerusalem, which is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the south.

The captives of this army of the children of Israel, who are among the Canaanites, will possess even to Zarephath; and the captives of Jerusalem, who are in Sepharad, will possess the cities of the Negev.

Y los que han sido salvados subirán del monte Sión para ser jueces del monte de Esaú; y el reino será del Señor.

Y vendrán salvadores al monte de Sión para juzgar al monte de Esaú; y el reino será de Jehová.

And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD’s.

Saviors will go up on Mount Zion to judge the mountains of Esau, and the kingdom will be the LORD’s.
