Ich, Paulus, ein Gefangener (um) Christi Jesu (willen), und der Bruder Timotheus senden dem geliebten Philemon, unserm Mitarbeiter,

PABLO, prisionero de Jesucristo, y el hermano Timoteo, á Filemón amado, y coadjutor nuestro;

Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy our brother, unto Philemon our dearly beloved, and fellowlabourer,

Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother, to Philemon, our beloved fellow worker,

sowie der Schwester Appia und unserm Mitstreiter Archippus nebst der Gemeinde in deinem Hause unsern Gruß:

ich höre ja, welche Liebe und welchen Glauben du dem Herrn Jesus und allen Heiligen gegenüber bewährst.

Oyendo tu caridad, y la fe que tienes en el Señor Jesús, y para con todos los santos;

Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;

hearing of your love and of the faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints,

(Dahin geht aber mein Gebet,) daß die aus deinem Glauben erwachsene gemeinnützige Tätigkeit sich in der Erkenntnis all des Guten wirksam erweise, das in uns vorhanden ist auf Christus hin.

Para que la comunicación de tu fe sea eficaz, en el conocimiento de todo el bien que está en vosotros, por Cristo Jesús.

That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

Ja, große Freude und reichen Trost habe ich deiner Liebe zu verdanken, weil die Herzen der Heiligen durch dich, lieber Bruder, erquickt worden sind.

Porque tenemos gran gozo y consolación de tu caridad, de que por ti, oh hermano, han sido recreadas las entrañas de los santos.

For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.

For we have much joy and comfort in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you, brother.

Darum, wenn ich es mir auch in Christus unbedenklich herausnehmen dürfte, dir vorzuschreiben, was sich gebührt,

Por lo cual, aunque tengo mucha resolución en Cristo para mandarte lo que conviene,

Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin thee that which is convenient,

Therefore though I have all boldness in Christ to command you that which is appropriate,

so ziehe ich es doch um der Liebe willen vor, nur eine Bitte gegen dich auszusprechen: ein Mann, wie ich es bin, ein alter Paulus und jetzt obendrein ein Gefangener (um) Christi Jesu (willen),

Ruégote más bien por amor, siendo tal cual soy, Pablo viejo, y aun ahora prisionero de Jesucristo:

Yet for love’s sake I rather beseech thee, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.

ich bitte dich für mein (Glaubens-) Kind, dessen Vater ich in meiner Gefangenschaft geworden bin, für Onesimus,

Ruégote por mi hijo Onésimo, que he engendrado en mis prisiones,

I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds:

I appeal to you for my child Onesimus, whom I have become the father of in my chains,

der sich dir zwar ehemals als ein Nichtsnutz erwiesen hat, jetzt aber dir ebenso wie mir von großem Nutzen ist.

El cual en otro tiempo te fué inútil, mas ahora á ti y á mí es útil;

Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me:

who once was useless to you, but now is useful to you and to me.

Ich sende ihn, das will sagen mein eigenes Herz, hiermit dir zurück.

El cual te vuelvo á enviar; tú pues, recíbele como á mis entrañas.

Whom I have sent again: thou therefore receive him, that is, mine own bowels:

I am sending him back. Therefore receive him, that is, my own heart,

Gern hätte ich ihn hier bei mir behalten, damit er mir als dein Vertreter in der Gefangenschaft, die ich für die Heilsbotschaft leide, Dienste leisten möchte;

Yo quisiera detenerle conmigo, para que en lugar de ti me sirviese en las prisiones del evangelio;

Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel:

whom I desired to keep with me, that on your behalf he might serve me in my chains for the Good News.

doch ohne deine Einwilligung habe ich nichts tun wollen, damit deine Guttat nicht erzwungen erscheine, sondern als eine freiwillige Leistung erfolge.

Mas nada quise hacer sin tu consejo, porque tu beneficio no fuese como de necesidad, sino voluntario.

But without thy mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly.

But I was willing to do nothing without your consent, that your goodness would not be as of necessity, but of free will.

Vielleicht ist er nämlich nur deswegen eine Zeitlang (von dir) getrennt gewesen, damit du ihn auf ewig wieder erhieltest,

Porque acaso por esto se ha apartado de ti por algún tiempo, para que le recibieses para siempre;

For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever;

For perhaps he was therefore separated from you for a while that you would have him forever,

(und zwar) nicht mehr als einen Sklaven, sondern als einen, der etwas Besseres darstellt, nämlich einen geliebten Bruder, als der er mir schon in besonderem Maße gilt, wieviel mehr noch dir, dem er sowohl mit seinem Leibe als nun auch im Herrn angehört!

No ya como siervo, antes más que siervo, como hermano amado, mayormente de mí, pero cuánto más de ti, en la carne y en el Señor.

Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord?

no longer as a slave, but more than a slave, a beloved brother—especially to me, but how much rather to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord.

Wenn du dich nun mit mir eng verbunden weißt, so nimm ihn auf wie mich selbst!

Así que, si me tienes por compañero, recíbele como á mí.

If thou count me therefore a partner, receive him as myself.

If then you count me a partner, receive him as you would receive me.

Und hat er dich irgendwie geschädigt oder ist er dir etwas schuldig, so setze das mir auf Rechnung!

Y si en algo te dañó, ó te debe, ponlo á mi cuenta.

If he hath wronged thee, or oweth thee ought, put that on mine account;

But if he has wronged you at all or owes you anything, put that to my account.

Ich, Paulus, gebe es dir hier schriftlich: Ich will es bezahlen! Dabei brauche ich dir nicht zu sagen, daß auch du mir etwas schuldig bist, nämlich dich selbst.

Yo Pablo lo escribí de mi mano, yo lo pagaré: por no decirte que aun á ti mismo te me debes demás.

I Paul have written it with mine own hand, I will repay it: albeit I do not say to thee how thou owest unto me even thine own self besides.

I, Paul, write this with my own hand: I will repay it (not to mention to you that you owe to me even your own self besides).

Ja, lieber Bruder, ich möchte dich gern ein wenig ausnutzen im Herrn: erfülle mir einen Herzenswunsch in Christus!

Sí, hermano, góceme yo de ti en el Señor; recrea mis entrañas en el Señor.

Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my bowels in the Lord.

Yes, brother, let me have joy from you in the Lord. Refresh my heart in the Lord.

Im Vertrauen auf deinen Gehorsam schreibe ich dir; ich weiß ja, du wirst sogar noch mehr tun, als ich verlange.

Te he escrito confiando en tu obediencia, sabiendo que aun harás más de lo que digo.

Having confidence in thy obedience I wrote unto thee, knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say.

Having confidence in your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even beyond what I say.

Zugleich rüste dich aber auch, mich als Gast bei dir aufzunehmen, denn ich hoffe, infolge eurer Gebete euch geschenkt zu werden.

Y asimismo prepárame también alojamiento; porque espero que por vuestras oraciones os tengo de ser concedido.

But withal prepare me also a lodging: for I trust that through your prayers I shall be given unto you.

Also, prepare a guest room for me, for I hope that through your prayers I will be restored to you.
