Minha súplica é que você mostre bondade para com o meu filho Onésimo, a quem eu ganhei para o Senhor enquanto estava aqui na prisão.

I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds:
I appeal to you for my child Onesimus, whom I have become the father of in my chains,
Onésimo não lhe foi de muita utilidade no passado, porém agora vai ser de real utilidade para nós dois.
El cual en otro tiempo te fué inútil, mas ahora á ti y á mí es útil;
Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me:
who once was useless to you, but now is useful to you and to me.

Na verdade eu queria conservá-lo aqui comigo enquanto continuo preso por anunciar o evangelho, e assim você estaria me ajudando por meio dele,
Yo quisiera detenerle conmigo, para que en lugar de ti me sirviese en las prisiones del evangelio;
Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel:
whom I desired to keep with me, that on your behalf he might serve me in my chains for the Good News.
mas não quis fazê-lo sem o seu consentimento. Eu desejava que o favor fosse espontâneo e não forçado.
Mas nada quise hacer sin tu consejo, porque tu beneficio no fuese como de necesidad, sino voluntario.
But without thy mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly.
But I was willing to do nothing without your consent, that your goodness would not be as of necessity, but of free will.
Você talvez pudesse pensar nisto da seguinte maneira: ele fugiu de você por algum tempo, mas agora poderá pertencer-lhe para sempre,
Porque acaso por esto se ha apartado de ti por algún tiempo, para que le recibieses para siempre;
For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever;
For perhaps he was therefore separated from you for a while that you would have him forever,
não mais apenas como um escravo, porém algo muito melhor — um irmão amado, especialmente para mim. Agora ele significará muito mais para você também, porque é não somente um servo, mas também seu irmão em Cristo.

Se eu sou verdadeiramente seu companheiro na fé, dê-lhe a mesma acolhida que daria a mim.

If thou count me therefore a partner, receive him as myself.

Se ele prejudicou você de alguma forma, ou lhe roubou algo, cobre isso de mim.
Y si en algo te dañó, ó te debe, ponlo á mi cuenta.
If he hath wronged thee, or oweth thee ought, put that on mine account;
