y de qué manera la liberalidad que nace de tu fe resplandece a la vista de todo el mundo, haciéndose patente por medio de todas las obras buenas que se practican en tu casa por amor de Jesucristo.
Oyendo tu caridad, y la fe que tienes en el Señor Jesús, y para con todos los santos;

Así es que no he tenido gran gozo y consuelo en las obras de tu caridad, viendo cuánto recreo y alivio han recibido de tu bondad, hermano mío, los corazones de los santos, o fieles necesitados.
Para que la comunicación de tu fe sea eficaz, en el conocimiento de todo el bien que está en vosotros, por Cristo Jesús.
That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
that the fellowship of your faith may become effective in the knowledge of every good thing which is in us in Christ Jesus.
Por este motivo, no obstante la libertad que pudiese yo tomarme en Jesucristo para mandarte una cosa que es de tu obligación,
Porque tenemos gran gozo y consolación de tu caridad, de que por ti, oh hermano, han sido recreadas las entrañas de los santos.
For we have great joy and consolation in thy love, because the bowels of the saints are refreshed by thee, brother.
For we have much joy and comfort in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you, brother.
con todo, lo mucho que te amo me hace preferir suplicártela, aunque sea lo que soy respecto de ti, esto es, aunque yo sea Pablo, el apóstol, ya anciano, y además preso ahora por amor de Jesucristo.
Por lo cual, aunque tengo mucha resolución en Cristo para mandarte lo que conviene,
Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin thee that which is convenient,
Therefore though I have all boldness in Christ to command you that which is appropriate,
Te ruego, pues, por mi hijo Onésimo, a quien he engendrado, o dado la vida de la gracia, entre las cadenas,
Ruégote más bien por amor, siendo tal cual soy, Pablo viejo, y aun ahora prisionero de Jesucristo:

Onésimo, que en algún tiempo fue para ti inútil, y ahora tanto para ti como para mí es provechoso,
Ruégote por mi hijo Onésimo, que he engendrado en mis prisiones,
I beseech thee for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds:
I appeal to you for my child Onesimus, whom I have become the father of in my chains,
el cual te lo vuelvo a enviar. Tú de tu parte recíbele como a mis entrañas, o como si fuera hijo mío.
El cual en otro tiempo te fué inútil, mas ahora á ti y á mí es útil;
Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me:
who once was useless to you, but now is useful to you and to me.
Yo había pensado retenerle conmigo, para que me sirviese por ti, durante la prisión en que estoy por la buena nueva;
El cual te vuelvo á enviar; tú pues, recíbele como á mis entrañas.
Whom I have sent again: thou therefore receive him, that is, mine own bowels:
I am sending him back. Therefore receive him, that is, my own heart,
pero nada he querido hacer sin tu consentimiento, para que tu beneficio no fuese como forzado, sino voluntario.
Yo quisiera detenerle conmigo, para que en lugar de ti me sirviese en las prisiones del evangelio;
Whom I would have retained with me, that in thy stead he might have ministered unto me in the bonds of the gospel:
whom I desired to keep with me, that on your behalf he might serve me in my chains for the Good News.
Que quizá él te ha dejado por algún tiempo, a fin de que le recobrases para siempre,
Mas nada quise hacer sin tu consejo, porque tu beneficio no fuese como de necesidad, sino voluntario.
But without thy mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly.
But I was willing to do nothing without your consent, that your goodness would not be as of necessity, but of free will.
no ya como siervo, sino como quien de siervo ha venido a ser por el bautismo un hermano muy amado, de mí en particular; ¿pero cuánto más de ti, pues que te pertenece según el mundo y según el Señor?
Porque acaso por esto se ha apartado de ti por algún tiempo, para que le recibieses para siempre;
For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever;
For perhaps he was therefore separated from you for a while that you would have him forever,
Ahora bien, si me tienes por íntimo compañero tuyo, acógele como a mí mismo.
No ya como siervo, antes más que siervo, como hermano amado, mayormente de mí, pero cuánto más de ti, en la carne y en el Señor.
Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord?
no longer as a slave, but more than a slave, a beloved brother—especially to me, but how much rather to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord.
Y si te ha causado algún detrimento o te debe algo, apúntalo a mi cuenta.
Así que, si me tienes por compañero, recíbele como á mí.
If thou count me therefore a partner, receive him as myself.
If then you count me a partner, receive him as you would receive me.
Yo, Pablo, te lo he escrito de mi puño; yo lo pagaré, por no decirte que tú te me debes todo a mí, puesto que te convertí a la fe.
Y si en algo te dañó, ó te debe, ponlo á mi cuenta.
If he hath wronged thee, or oweth thee ought, put that on mine account;
But if he has wronged you at all or owes you anything, put that to my account.
Sí, por cierto, hermano. Reciba yo de ti este gozo en el Señor. Da en nombre del Señor este consuelo a mi corazón.
Yo Pablo lo escribí de mi mano, yo lo pagaré: por no decirte que aun á ti mismo te me debes demás.
I Paul have written it with mine own hand, I will repay it: albeit I do not say to thee how thou owest unto me even thine own self besides.
I, Paul, write this with my own hand: I will repay it (not to mention to you that you owe to me even your own self besides).
Confiado en tu obediencia te escribo, sabiendo que harás aun mucho más de lo que digo.
Sí, hermano, góceme yo de ti en el Señor; recrea mis entrañas en el Señor.
Yea, brother, let me have joy of thee in the Lord: refresh my bowels in the Lord.
Yes, brother, let me have joy from you in the Lord. Refresh my heart in the Lord.
Y al mismo tiempo dispónme también hospedaje; pues espero que por vuestras oraciones os he de ser restituido.
Te he escrito confiando en tu obediencia, sabiendo que aun harás más de lo que digo.
Having confidence in thy obedience I wrote unto thee, knowing that thou wilt also do more than I say.
Having confidence in your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even beyond what I say.
Epafras, preso conmigo por amor de Jesucristo, te saluda,
Y asimismo prepárame también alojamiento; porque espero que por vuestras oraciones os tengo de ser concedido.
But withal prepare me also a lodging: for I trust that through your prayers I shall be given unto you.
Also, prepare a guest room for me, for I hope that through your prayers I will be restored to you.
