Es ist ja doch nur recht und billig für mich, diese gute Meinung von euch allen zu hegen; denn ich halte die Erinnerung an euch in meinem Herzen fest, weil ihr allesamt sowohl während meiner Gefangenschaft als auch bei der Verteidigung und Bezeugung der Heilsbotschaft Mitgenossen des mir verliehenen Gnadenamts seid.

Los unos anuncian á Cristo por contención, no sinceramente, pensando añadir aflicción á mis prisiones;
The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
The former insincerely preach Christ from selfish ambition, thinking that they add affliction to my chains;
die anderen, die es aus Rechthaberei tun, verkündigen Christus nicht in lauterer Absicht, (sondern) in der Meinung, daß sie mir dadurch zu meiner Gefangenschaft auch noch Kummer verursachen.

And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;

damit ihr noch weit mehr Grund habt, euch meiner in Christus Jesus zu rühmen, wenn ich noch einmal bei euch anwesend sein werde.

Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
Only let your way of life be worthy of the Good News of Christ, that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your state, that you stand firm in one spirit, with one soul striving for the faith of the Good News;
und euch in keiner Beziehung von den Widersachern einschüchtern laßt; das ist (alsdann) für sie ein Hinweis auf ihr Verderben, für euch dagegen auf eure Rettung, und zwar (ein Hinweis) von Gott her.
Y en nada intimidados de los que se oponen: que á ellos ciertamente es indicio de perdición, mas á vosotros de salud; y esto de Dios;
And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.
and in nothing frightened by the adversaries, which is for them a proof of destruction, but to you of salvation, and that from God.
Denn euch ist in eurem Christenstand die Gnade zuteil geworden, nicht nur an Christus zu glauben, sondern auch um seinetwillen zu leiden,

For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;
