la gracia y paz de Dios padre nuestro y de nuestro Señor Jesucristo sean con vosotros.

Gracia sea á vosotros, y paz de Dios nuestro Padre y del Señor Jesucristo.

Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Yo doy gracias a mi Dios cada vez que me acuerdo de vosotros,

Doy gracias á mi Dios en toda memoria de vosotros,

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,

I thank my God whenever I remember you,

rogando siempre con gozo por todos vosotros, en todas mis oraciones,

Siempre en todas mis oraciones haciendo oración por todos vosotros con gozo,

Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,

always in every request of mine on behalf of you all, making my requests with joy,

al ver la parte que tomáis en el Evangelio de Cristo desde el primer día hasta el presente.

Por vuestra comunión en el evangelio, desde el primer día hasta ahora:

For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;

for your partnership in furtherance of the Good News from the first day until now;

Porque yo tengo una firme confianza, que quien ha empezado en vosotros la buena obra de vuestra salud, la llevará a cabo hasta el día de la venida de Jesucristo;

Estando confiado de esto, que el que comenzó en vosotros la buena obra, la perfeccionará hasta el día de Jesucristo;

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

como es justo que yo lo piense así de todos vosotros; pues tengo impreso en mi corazón que todos vosotros sois compañeros de mi gozo en mis cadenas, y en la defensa y confirmación del Evangelio.

Como me es justo sentir esto de todos vosotros, por cuanto os tengo en el corazón; y en mis prisiones, y en la defensa y confirmación del evangelio, sois todos vosotros compañeros de mi gracia.

Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.

It is even right for me to think this way on behalf of all of you, because I have you in my heart, because both in my bonds and in the defense and confirmation of the Good News, you all are partakers with me of grace.

Dios es mi testigo de la ternura con que os amo a todos en las entrañas de Jesucristo.

Porque Dios me es testigo de cómo os amo á todos vosotros en las entrañas de Jesucristo.

For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.

For God is my witness, how I long after all of you in the tender mercies of Christ Jesus.

Y lo que pido es que vuestra caridad crezca más y más en conocimiento y en toda discre-ción,

Y esto ruego, que vuestro amor abunde aun más y más en ciencia y en todo conocimiento,

And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;

This I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment,

a fin de que sepáis discernir lo mejor, y os mantengáis puros y sin tropiezo hasta el día de Cristo ,

Para que discernáis lo mejor; que seáis sinceros y sin ofensa para el día de Cristo;

That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;

so that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense to the day of Christ,

colmados de frutos de justicia por Jesucristo, a gloria y loor de Dios.

Llenos de frutos de justicia, que son por Jesucristo, á gloria y loor de Dios.

Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

Entretanto, ¡oh hermanos!, quiero que sepáis que las cosas que han sucedido han redundado en mayor progreso del Evangelio,

Y quiero, hermanos, que sepáis que las cosas que me han sucedido, han redundado más en provecho del evangelio;

But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;

Now I desire to have you know, brothers, that the things which happened to me have turned out rather to the progress of the Good News,

de suerte que mis cadenas por Cristo han llegado a ser notorias a toda la corte del emperador y a todos los demás habitantes,

De manera que mis prisiones han sido célebres en Cristo en todo el pretorio, y á todos los demás;

So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;

so that it became evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my bonds are in Christ,

y muchos de los hermanos en el Señor, cobrando bríos con mis cadenas, con mayor ánimo se atreven a predicar sin miedo la palabra de Dios.

Y muchos de los hermanos en el Señor, tomando ánimo con mis prisiones, se atreven mucho más á hablar la palabra sin temor.

And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

and that most of the brothers in the Lord, being confident through my bonds, are more abundantly bold to speak the word of God without fear.

Verdad es que hay algunos que predican a Cristo por espíritu de envidia y como por tema, mientras otros lo hacen con buena intención.

Y algunos, á la verdad, predican á Cristo por envidia y porfía; mas algunos también por buena voluntad.

Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:

Some indeed preach Christ even out of envy and strife, and some also out of good will.

Unos por caridad, sabiendo que estoy constituido para defensa del Evangelio;

Los unos anuncian á Cristo por contención, no sinceramente, pensando añadir aflicción á mis prisiones;

The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:

The former insincerely preach Christ from selfish ambition, thinking that they add affliction to my chains;

otros, al contrario, por celos y tema contra mí, anuncian a Cristo con intención torcida, imaginándose agravar el peso de mis cadenas.

Pero los otros por amor, sabiendo que soy puesto por la defensa del evangelio.

But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.

but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the Good News.

Mas ¿qué importa? Con tal que de cualquier modo Cristo sea anunciado, bien sea por algún aparente pretexto, o bien por un verdadero celo, en esto me gozo, y me gozaré siempre.

¿Qué pues? Que no obstante, en todas maneras, ó por pretexto ó por verdad, es anunciado Cristo; y en esto me huelgo, y aun me holgaré.

What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

What does it matter? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed. I rejoice in this, yes, and will rejoice.

Porque sé que esto redundará en mi bien, mediante vuestras oraciones y el auxilio del Espíritu de Jesucristo,

Porque sé que esto se me tornará á salud, por vuestra oración, y por la suministración del Espíritu de Jesucristo;

For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

For I know that this will turn out to my salvation through your prayers and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

conforme a mis deseos y a la esperanza que tengo, de que por ningún caso quedaré confundido; antes estoy con total confianza de que también ahora, como siempre, Cristo será glorificado en mi cuerpo, ora sea por mi vida, ora sea por mi muerte.

Conforme á mi mira y esperanza, que en nada seré confundido; antes bien con toda confianza, como siempre, ahora también será engrandecido Cristo en mi cuerpo, ó por vida, ó por muerte.

According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will in no way be disappointed, but with all boldness, as always, now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.

Porque mi vivir es todo para servir a Cristo , y el morir también, y además es una ganancia mía, pues me lleva a él.

Porque para mí el vivir es Cristo, y el morir es ganancia.

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

Pero si quedándome más tiempo en este cuerpo mortal, yo puedo sacar fruto de mi trabajo, no sé en verdad qué escoger, si la muerte o la vida;

Mas si el vivir en la carne, esto me será para fruto de la obra, no sé entonces qué escoger;

But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.

But if I live on in the flesh, this will bring fruit from my work; yet I don’t know what I will choose.

pues me hallo estrechado por ambos lados, tengo deseos de verme libre de las ataduras de este cuerpo, y estar con Cristo , lo cual es sin comparación mejor para mí;

Porque de ambas cosas estoy puesto en estrecho, teniendo deseo de ser desatado, y estar con Cristo, lo cual es mucho mejor:

For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

But I am hard pressed between the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.

pero por otra parte quedar en esta vida es necesario por vosotros.

Empero quedar en la carne es más necesario por causa de vosotros.

Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

Yet to remain in the flesh is more needful for your sake.

Persuadido de esto entiendo que quedaré todavía, y permaneceré con todos vosotros, para provecho vuestro y gozo o exaltación de vuestra fe;

Y confiado en esto, sé que quedaré, que aun permaneceré con todos vosotros, para provecho vuestro y gozo de la fe;

And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;

Having this confidence, I know that I will remain, yes, and remain with you all for your progress and joy in the faith,

a fin de que crezca vuestro regocijo y congratulación conmigo en Cristo Jesús , con motivo de mi regreso a vosotros.

Para que crezca vuestra gloria de mí en Cristo Jesús por mi venida otra vez á vosotros.

That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again.

that your boasting may abound in Christ Jesus in me through my presence with you again.

Sólo os encargo ahora que vuestro proceder sea digno del Evangelio de Cristo ; para que o sea que yo vaya a veros, o que esté ausente, oiga decir de vosotros que perseveráis firmes en un mismo espíritu, trabajando unánimes por la fe del Evangelio.

Solamente que converséis como es digno del evangelio de Cristo; para que, ó sea que vaya á veros, ó que esté ausente, oiga de vosotros que estáis firmes en un mismo espíritu, unánimes combatiendo juntamente por la fe del evangelio,

Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

Only let your way of life be worthy of the Good News of Christ, that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your state, that you stand firm in one spirit, with one soul striving for the faith of the Good News;

Y no deben intimidaros los esfuerzos de los enemigos; pues esto que hacen contra vosotros y es la causa de su perdición, lo es para vosotros de salvación; y eso es disposición de Dios;

Y en nada intimidados de los que se oponen: que á ellos ciertamente es indicio de perdición, mas á vosotros de salud; y esto de Dios;

And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.

and in nothing frightened by the adversaries, which is for them a proof of destruction, but to you of salvation, and that from God.

pues por los méritos de Cristo se os ha hecho la gracia, no sólo de creer en él, sino también de padecer por su amor,

Porque á vosotros es concedido por Cristo, no sólo que creáis en él, sino también que padezcáis por él,

For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

Because it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer on his behalf,

sufriendo el mismo conflicto, que antes en esa ciudad visteis en mí, y el que ahora habéis oído que sufro.

Teniendo el mismo conflicto que habéis visto en mí, y ahora oís estar en mí.

Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.

having the same conflict which you saw in me and now hear is in me.
