Esta carta viene de parte de Pablo y de Timoteo, siervos de Jesucristo, para todo el pueblo de Dios en Cristo Jesús que vive en Filipo y a los líderes y sus asistentes.

PABLO y Timoteo, siervos de Jesucristo, á todos los santos en Cristo Jesús que están en Filipos, con los obispos y diáconos:

Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:

Gracia a ustedes y paz de parte de Dios, nuestro Padre, y del Señor Jesucristo.

Gracia sea á vosotros, y paz de Dios nuestro Padre y del Señor Jesucristo.

Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Cuando pienso en ustedes doy muchas gracias a mi Dios,

Doy gracias á mi Dios en toda memoria de vosotros,

I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,

I thank my God whenever I remember you,

y siempre me alegro de recordarlos a todos en mis oraciones,

Siempre en todas mis oraciones haciendo oración por todos vosotros con gozo,

Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,

always in every request of mine on behalf of you all, making my requests with joy,

porque ustedes han sido mis compañeros en la predicación de la buena noticia desde el principio hasta ahora.

Por vuestra comunión en el evangelio, desde el primer día hasta ahora:

For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;

for your partnership in furtherance of the Good News from the first day until now;

Estoy completamente seguro de que Dios, quien comenzó esta buena obra en ustedes, la continuará y la terminará eficazmente cuando Jesucristo regrese.

Estando confiado de esto, que el que comenzó en vosotros la buena obra, la perfeccionará hasta el día de Jesucristo;

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Me gusta pensar de esta manera respecto a todos ustedes porque son muy importantes para mí. Aunque esté en prisión o aunque esté allá afuera predicando la buena noticia, todos ustedes comparten conmigo la gracia de Dios.

Como me es justo sentir esto de todos vosotros, por cuanto os tengo en el corazón; y en mis prisiones, y en la defensa y confirmación del evangelio, sois todos vosotros compañeros de mi gracia.

Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.

It is even right for me to think this way on behalf of all of you, because I have you in my heart, because both in my bonds and in the defense and confirmation of the Good News, you all are partakers with me of grace.

Él es mi testigo en cuanto al gran afecto que tengo por cada uno de ustedes en el amor de Cristo Jesús.

Porque Dios me es testigo de cómo os amo á todos vosotros en las entrañas de Jesucristo.

For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.

For God is my witness, how I long after all of you in the tender mercies of Christ Jesus.

Mi oración es que su amor pueda crecer cada vez más en conocimiento y entendimiento,

Y esto ruego, que vuestro amor abunde aun más y más en ciencia y en todo conocimiento,

And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;

This I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment,

a fin de que puedan comprender lo que es realmente importante. Y que así puedan ser hallados fieles y e irreprensibles cuando Cristo regrese,

Para que discernáis lo mejor; que seáis sinceros y sin ofensa para el día de Cristo;

That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;

so that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense to the day of Christ,

llenos de los frutos de una vida justa gracias a Jesucristo, y dar gloria y alabanza a Dios.

Llenos de frutos de justicia, que son por Jesucristo, á gloria y loor de Dios.

Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

Quiero que sepan, mis hermanos y hermanas, que todo lo que he experimentado ha servido para el avance de la buena noticia.

Y quiero, hermanos, que sepáis que las cosas que me han sucedido, han redundado más en provecho del evangelio;

But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;

Now I desire to have you know, brothers, that the things which happened to me have turned out rather to the progress of the Good News,

Porque todos—incluso toda la guardia pretoriana—sabe ahora que estoy encadenado por Cristo;

De manera que mis prisiones han sido célebres en Cristo en todo el pretorio, y á todos los demás;

So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;

so that it became evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my bonds are in Christ,

y por mis cadenas muchos de los cristianos se han animado a predicar abiertamente y sin temor sobre la palabra de Dios.

Y muchos de los hermanos en el Señor, tomando ánimo con mis prisiones, se atreven mucho más á hablar la palabra sin temor.

And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

and that most of the brothers in the Lord, being confident through my bonds, are more abundantly bold to speak the word of God without fear.

Sí, es cierto que algunos predican por celo y rivalidad. Sin embargo, hay quienes predican con buenas intenciones.

Y algunos, á la verdad, predican á Cristo por envidia y porfía; mas algunos también por buena voluntad.

Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:

Some indeed preach Christ even out of envy and strife, and some also out of good will.

Actúan por amor, porque saben que me es necesario estar aquí para defender la buena noticia.

Los unos anuncian á Cristo por contención, no sinceramente, pensando añadir aflicción á mis prisiones;

The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:

The former insincerely preach Christ from selfish ambition, thinking that they add affliction to my chains;

Aquellos otros, presentan a Cristo con falsedad, por ambiciones egoístas, tratando de causarme problemas en la prisión.

Pero los otros por amor, sabiendo que soy puesto por la defensa del evangelio.

But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.

but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the Good News.

¿Y qué? Lo único que me importa es que Cristo está siendo mostrado de todas las formas, ya sea por fingimiento o por verdadera convicción. ¡Eso es lo que me hace feliz, y seguiré sintiéndome feliz por ello!

¿Qué pues? Que no obstante, en todas maneras, ó por pretexto ó por verdad, es anunciado Cristo; y en esto me huelgo, y aun me holgaré.

What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.

What does it matter? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed. I rejoice in this, yes, and will rejoice.

¿Por qué? Porque estoy convencido de que a través de las oraciones de ustedes, y por medio de la ayuda del Espíritu Santo de Jesucristo, esto terminará siendo mi salvación.

Porque sé que esto se me tornará á salud, por vuestra oración, y por la suministración del Espíritu de Jesucristo;

For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

For I know that this will turn out to my salvation through your prayers and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

Porque mi esperanza y más grande anhelo es no hacer ninguna cosa de la cual me pueda avergonzar. Por el contrario, deseo fervientemente – como siempre – que incluso en este momento Cristo sea grandemente honrado a través de mí, ya sea que viva o muera.

Conforme á mi mira y esperanza, que en nada seré confundido; antes bien con toda confianza, como siempre, ahora también será engrandecido Cristo en mi cuerpo, ó por vida, ó por muerte.

According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

according to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will in no way be disappointed, but with all boldness, as always, now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.

En lo que a mí concierne, el vivir es para Cristo, el morir trae consigo ganancia.

Porque para mí el vivir es Cristo, y el morir es ganancia.

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

¡Pero si debo seguir viviendo aquí, y eso será productivo, entonces no sé cuál será la mejor elección!

Mas si el vivir en la carne, esto me será para fruto de la obra, no sé entonces qué escoger;

But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.

But if I live on in the flesh, this will bring fruit from my work; yet I don’t know what I will choose.

Pues estoy en un dilema: realmente quiero partir y estar con Cristo, lo que sería mucho mejor,

Porque de ambas cosas estoy puesto en estrecho, teniendo deseo de ser desatado, y estar con Cristo, lo cual es mucho mejor:

For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

But I am hard pressed between the two, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.

pero quedarme aquí físicamente es más importante en lo que concierne a ustedes.

Empero quedar en la carne es más necesario por causa de vosotros.

Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

Yet to remain in the flesh is more needful for your sake.

Puesto que estoy plenamente seguro de esto, sé que permaneceré aquí con ustedes para ayudarlos en cuanto crece su fe y regocijo en Dios,

Y confiado en esto, sé que quedaré, que aun permaneceré con todos vosotros, para provecho vuestro y gozo de la fe;

And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;

Having this confidence, I know that I will remain, yes, and remain with you all for your progress and joy in the faith,

para que cuando yo los vea otra vez, su alabanza a Cristo Jesús sea aún mayor por mi causa.

Para que crezca vuestra gloria de mí en Cristo Jesús por mi venida otra vez á vosotros.

That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again.

that your boasting may abound in Christ Jesus in me through my presence with you again.

Simplemente asegúrense de que su forma de vivir corresponde a la buena noticia de Cristo de tal modo que, ya sea que los vea o no, pueda saber cómo están: que permanecen firmes y en plena armonía unos con otros, unidos en espíritu mientras trabajan juntos por la fe de la buena noticia.

Solamente que converséis como es digno del evangelio de Cristo; para que, ó sea que vaya á veros, ó que esté ausente, oiga de vosotros que estáis firmes en un mismo espíritu, unánimes combatiendo juntamente por la fe del evangelio,

Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;

Only let your way of life be worthy of the Good News of Christ, that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your state, that you stand firm in one spirit, with one soul striving for the faith of the Good News;

No dejen que sus enemigos los atemoricen. Siendo valientes demostrarán que ellos se perderán, pero también que ustedes serán salvos por el mismo Dios.

Y en nada intimidados de los que se oponen: que á ellos ciertamente es indicio de perdición, mas á vosotros de salud; y esto de Dios;

And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.

and in nothing frightened by the adversaries, which is for them a proof of destruction, but to you of salvation, and that from God.

Pues a ustedes no solo se les ha dado el privilegio de confiar en Jesús, sino de sufrir por él también.

Porque á vosotros es concedido por Cristo, no sólo que creáis en él, sino también que padezcáis por él,

For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

Because it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in him, but also to suffer on his behalf,

Ustedes están experimentando la misma lucha que me vieron sufrir, una lucha que aún vivo, como ya lo saben.

Teniendo el mismo conflicto que habéis visto en mí, y ahora oís estar en mí.

Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.

having the same conflict which you saw in me and now hear is in me.
