1Ahora pues, si están animados por estar en Cristo, si están consolados por su amor, si comparten juntos en el Espíritu, si tienen compasión y simpatía,
2entonces completen mi alegría teniendo un mismo modo de pensar y amar, permaneciendo espiritualmente unidos y con un mismo propósito.
3No hagan ninguna cosa con un espíritu egoísta u orgulloso, sino piensen con humildad unos de otros cosas mejores que las que piensan de ustedes mismos.
4Ninguno debería preocuparse por sus propias cosas, sino preocúpense por los intereses de los demás también.
5La actitud que deberían tener es la misma de Cristo Jesús.
6Aunque en su naturaleza él siempre fue Dios, no le preocupó mantener su igualdad con Dios.
7Más bien se vació a sí mismo, tomando la naturaleza de un siervo, volviéndose un ser humano.
8Y al venir en forma humana, humillándose a sí mismo, se sometió a la muerte, incluso a la muerte en una cruz.
9Por ello Dios lo colocó en la posición de mayor honra y poder, y le dio el nombre más prestigioso
10para que en el nombre de Jesús todos se inclinen con respeto, ya sea en el cielo, en la tierra o debajo de la tierra,
11y todos declararán que Jesucristo es Señor, para la gloria de Dios, el Padre.
12Así que, amigos, sigan trabajando por la meta de la salvación con plena reverencia y respeto hacia Dios, siguiendo lo que se les ha enseñado. No solo cuando yo estaba con ustedes, sino mucho más ahora que estoy lejos.
13Porque es Dios quien obra en ustedes, creando la voluntad y la capacidad para hacer lo que él quiere que hagan.
14Hagan todo sin quejarse o discutir
15para que sean sinceros, inocentes de cualquier mal. Sean hijos irreprensibles de Dios en medio de un pueblo deshonesto y corrupto. Brillen entre ellos como luz del mundo,
16mostrándoles la palabra de vida. ¡Así tendré algo de qué enorgullecerme cuando Cristo regrese, demostrando que no anduve de aquí para allá trabajando en vano!
17De modo que incluso si yo diera mi vida como sacrificio y ofrenda para que ustedes crean en Dios, me alegro por ello, y me alegro con todos ustedes,
18así como ustedes se alegran en gran manera conmigo.
19Espero que, si es la voluntad de Jesús, pueda enviarles pronto a Timoteo. Me alegraré al saber cómo están ustedes.
20No conozco a nadie que se preocupe por ustedes tan sinceramente como él.
21Otras personas solo se preocupan por sus propios intereses y no los de Jesucristo.
22Pero ustedes ya saben cómo es él. Es como un niño trabajando para ayudar a su padre, y así ha trabajado conmigo para esparcir la buena noticia.
23De modo que espero enviarlo tan pronto como vea cómo serán las cosas para mí,
24y confío en el Señor en que pronto pueda ir también.
25Pero pensé que sería importante enviarles a Epafrodito. Él es un hermano para mí, un compañero de trabajo y soldado compañero de batalla. Ustedes lo enviaron para cuidar de mí,
26y él ha deseado verlos hace mucho tiempo a todos ustedes, preocupado por ustedes, pues han oído que estuvo enfermo.
27Estuvo realmente enfermo—a punto de morir—pero Dios tuvo misericordia de él. No solo de él, sino de mí también, pues así no viviría una tragedia tras otra.
28Por ello estoy tan deseoso de enviarlo, para que cuando lo vean estén felices y yo no esté tan ansioso.
29Así que recíbanlo con mucha alegría en el Señor. Honren a personas como él,
30que estuvo a punto de morir trabajando para Cristo, exponiendo su vida para compensar la ayuda que ustedes no podían darme.

1POR tanto, si hay alguna consolación en Cristo; si algún refrigerio de amor; si alguna comunión del Espíritu; si algunas entrañas y misericordias,
2Cumplid mi gozo; que sintáis lo mismo, teniendo el mismo amor, unánimes, sintiendo una misma cosa.
3Nada hagáis por contienda ó por vanagloria; antes bien en humildad, estimándoos inferiores los unos á los otros:
4No mirando cada uno á lo suyo propio, sino cada cual también á lo de los otros.
5Haya, pues, en vosotros este sentir que hubo también en Cristo Jesús:
6El cual, siendo en forma de Dios, no tuvo por usurpación ser igual á Dios:
7Sin embargo, se anonadó á sí mismo, tomando forma de siervo, hecho semejante á los hombres;
8Y hallado en la condición como hombre, se humilló á sí mismo, hecho obediente hasta la muerte, y muerte de cruz.
9Por lo cual Dios también le ensalzó á lo sumo, y dióle un nombre que es sobre todo nombre;
10Para que en el nombre de Jesús se doble toda rodilla de los que están en los cielos, y de los que en la tierra, y de los que debajo de la tierra;
11Y toda lengua confiese que Jesucristo es el Señor, á la gloria de Dios Padre.
12Por tanto, amados míos, como siempre habéis obedecido, no como en mi presencia solamente, sino mucho más ahora en mi ausencia, ocupaos en vuestra salvación con temor y temblor;
13Porque Dios es el que en vosotros obra así el querer como el hacer, por su buena voluntad.
14Haced todo sin murmuraciones y contiendas,
15Para que seáis irreprensibles y sencillos, hijos de Dios sin culpa en medio de la nación maligna y perversa, entre los cuales resplandecéis como luminares en el mundo;
16Reteniendo la palabra de vida para que yo pueda gloriarme en el día de Cristo, que no he corrido en vano, ni trabajado en vano.
17Y aun si soy derramado en libación sobre el sacrificio y servicio de vuestra fe, me gozo y congratulo por todos vosotros.
18Y asimismo gozaos también vosotros, y regocijaos conmigo.
19Mas espero en el Señor Jesús enviaros presto á Timoteo, para que yo también esté de buen ánimo, entendido vuestro estado.
20Porque á ninguno tengo tan unánime, y que con sincera afición esté solícito por vosotros.
21Porque todos buscan lo suyo propio, no lo que es de Cristo Jesús.
22Pero la experiencia de él habéis conocido, que como hijo á padre ha servido conmigo en el evangelio.
23Así que á éste espero enviaros, luego que yo viere cómo van mis negocios;
24Y confío en el Señor que yo también iré presto á vosotros.
25Mas tuve por cosa necesaria enviaros á Epafrodito, mi hermano, y colaborador y compañero de milicia, y vuestro mensajero, y ministrador de mis necesidades;
26Porque tenía gran deseo de ver á todos vosotros, y gravemente se angustió porque habíais oído que había enfermado.
27Pues en verdad estuvo enfermo á la muerte: mas Dios tuvo misericordia de él; y no solamente de él, sino aun de mí, para que yo no tuviese tristeza sobre tristeza.
28Así que le envío más presto, para que viéndole os volváis á gozar, y yo esté con menos tristeza.
29Recibidle pues en el Señor con todo gozo; y tened en estima á los tales:
30Porque por la obra de Cristo estuvo cercano á la muerte, poniendo su vida para suplir vuestra falta en mi servicio.

1If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,
2Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
3Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
12Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
13For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
14Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
15That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
16Holding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.
17Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and rejoice with you all.
18For the same cause also do ye joy, and rejoice with me.
19But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.
20For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.
21For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ’s.
22But ye know the proof of him, that, as a son with the father, he hath served with me in the gospel.
23Him therefore I hope to send presently, so soon as I shall see how it will go with me.
24But I trust in the Lord that I also myself shall come shortly.
25Yet I supposed it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and companion in labour, and fellowsoldier, but your messenger, and he that ministered to my wants.
26For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because that ye had heard that he had been sick.
27For indeed he was sick nigh unto death: but God had mercy on him; and not on him only, but on me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow.
28I sent him therefore the more carefully, that, when ye see him again, ye may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.
29Receive him therefore in the Lord with all gladness; and hold such in reputation:
30Because for the work of Christ he was nigh unto death, not regarding his life, to supply your lack of service toward me.
World English Bible
1If therefore there is any exhortation in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any tender mercies and compassion,
2make my joy full by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind;
3doing nothing through rivalry or through conceit, but in humility, each counting others better than himself;
4each of you not just looking to his own things, but each of you also to the things of others.
5Have this in your mind, which was also in Christ Jesus,
6who, existing in the form of God, didn’t consider equality with God a thing to be grasped,
7but emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men.
8And being found in human form, he humbled himself, becoming obedient to the point of death, yes, the death of the cross.
9Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name,
10that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth,
11and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
12So then, my beloved, even as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
13For it is God who works in you both to will and to work for his good pleasure.
14Do all things without complaining and arguing,
15that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without defect in the middle of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you are seen as lights in the world,
16holding up the word of life, that I may have something to boast in the day of Christ that I didn’t run in vain nor labor in vain.
17Yes, and if I am poured out on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad and rejoice with you all.
18In the same way, you also should be glad and rejoice with me.
19But I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, that I also may be cheered up when I know how you are doing.
20For I have no one else like-minded, who will truly care about you.
21For they all seek their own, not the things of Jesus Christ.
22But you know that he has proved himself. As a child serves a father, so he served with me in furtherance of the Good News.
23Therefore I hope to send him at once, as soon as I see how it will go with me.
24But I trust in the Lord that I myself also will come shortly.
25But I thought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, fellow worker, fellow soldier, and your apostle and servant of my need,
26since he longed for you all, and was very troubled because you had heard that he was sick.
27For indeed he was sick nearly to death, but God had mercy on him, and not on him only, but on me also, that I might not have sorrow on sorrow.
28I have sent him therefore the more diligently, that when you see him again, you may rejoice, and that I may be the less sorrowful.
29Receive him therefore in the Lord with all joy, and hold such people in honor,
30because for the work of Christ he came near to death, risking his life to supply that which was lacking in your service toward me.
