Para conocer sabiduría y castigo; para entender las razones prudentes;

To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;

to know wisdom and instruction; to discern the words of understanding;

para recibir el castigo de prudencia, justicia, juicio y equidad;

Para recibir el consejo de prudencia, justicia, y juicio y equidad;

To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;

to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity;

para dar prudencia a los simples, y a los jóvenes inteligencia y consejo.

Para dar sagacidad á los simples, y á los jóvenes inteligencia y cordura.

To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.

to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young man—

Si el sabio los oyere, aumentará la doctrina; y el entendido adquirirá consejo;

Oirá el sabio, y aumentará el saber; y el entendido adquirirá consejo;

A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

that the wise man may hear, and increase in learning; that the man of understanding may attain to sound counsel;

El principio del conocimiento es el temor del SEÑOR; los locos despreciaron la sabiduría y el castigo.

El principio de la sabiduría es el temor de Jehová: los insensatos desprecian la sabiduría y la enseñanza.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but the foolish despise wisdom and instruction.

Oye, hijo mío, el castigo de tu padre, y no deseches la ley de tu madre;

Oye, hijo mío, la doctrina de tu padre, y no desprecies la dirección de tu madre:

My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

My son, listen to your father’s instruction, and don’t forsake your mother’s teaching;

porque aumento de gracia serán a tu cabeza, y protección a tu cuello.

Porque adorno de gracia serán á tu cabeza, y collares á tu cuello.

For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

for they will be a garland to grace your head, and chains around your neck.

Hijo mío, si los pecadores te quisieren engañar, no consientas.

My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

Si dijeren: Ven con nosotros, espiemos a alguno para matarle, acechemos al inocente sin razón;

Si dijeren: Ven con nosotros, pongamos asechanzas á la sangre, acechemos sin motivo al inocente;

If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:

If they say, “Come with us. Let’s lie in wait for blood. Let’s lurk secretly for the innocent without cause.

los tragaremos vivos como el sepulcro, y enteros, como los que caen en un abismo;

Los tragaremos vivos como el sepulcro, y enteros, como los que caen en sima;

Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:

Let’s swallow them up alive like Sheol, and whole, like those who go down into the pit.

hallaremos riquezas de toda clase, llenaremos nuestras casas de despojos;

We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:

We’ll find all valuable wealth. We’ll fill our houses with plunder.

echa tu suerte entre nosotros; tengamos todos una bolsa,

Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:

porque sus pies correrán al mal, e irán presurosos a derramar sangre.

For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.

And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.

Tales son las sendas de todo el que codicia la ganancia, la cual prenderá la vida de sus poseedores.

So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.

So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain. It takes away the life of its owners.

La sabiduría clama de fuera; en las plazas da su voz;

La sabiduría clama de fuera, da su voz en las plazas:

Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:

Wisdom calls aloud in the street. She utters her voice in the public squares.

She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,

She calls at the head of noisy places. At the entrance of the city gates, she utters her words:

¿Hasta cuándo, oh simples, amaréis la simpleza, y los burladores desearán el burlar, y los locos aborrecerán la ciencia?

How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

Volveos a mi reprensión; he aquí yo os derramaré mi espíritu, y os haré saber mis palabras.

también yo me reiré en vuestra calamidad, y me burlaré cuando os viniere lo que teméis;

I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

cuando viniere como una destrucción lo que teméis, y vuestra calamidad llegare como un torbellino; cuando sobre vosotros viniere tribulación y angustia.

When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when your disaster comes on like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come on you.

Entonces me llamarán, y no responderé; me buscarán de mañana, y no me hallarán;

Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

Then they will call on me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me,

por cuanto aborrecieron el conocimiento, y no escogieron el temor del SEÑOR,

Por cuanto aborrecieron la sabiduría, y no escogieron el temor de Jehová,

For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

because they hated knowledge, and didn’t choose the fear of the LORD.

ni quisieron mi consejo, y menospreciaron toda reprensión mía.

They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

They wanted none of my counsel. They despised all my reproof.

Comerán, pues, del fruto de su camino, y de sus consejos se hartarán.

Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

Porque el reposo de los ignorantes los matará, y la prosperidad de los locos los echará a perder.

For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

For the backsliding of the simple will kill them. The careless ease of fools will destroy them.

Mas el que me oyere, habitará confiadamente, y vivirá reposado del temor del mal.

But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

But whoever listens to me will dwell securely, and will be at ease, without fear of harm.”
