Les Proverbes de Salomon, fils de David, et Roi d’Israël.

LOS proverbios de Salomón, hijo de David, rey de Israel:

Pour connaître la sagesse et l’instruction, pour entendre les discours d’intelligence ;

Para entender sabiduría y doctrina; para conocer las razones prudentes;

To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;

to know wisdom and instruction; to discern the words of understanding;

Pour recevoir une leçon de bon sens, de justice, de jugement et d’équité.

Para recibir el consejo de prudencia, justicia, y juicio y equidad;

To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;

to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity;

Pour donner du discernement aux simples, et de la connaissance et de l’adresse aux jeunes gens.

Para dar sagacidad á los simples, y á los jóvenes inteligencia y cordura.

To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.

to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young man—

Le sage écoutera, et deviendra mieux appris, et l’homme intelligent acquerra de la prudence ;

Oirá el sabio, y aumentará el saber; y el entendido adquirirá consejo;

A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:

that the wise man may hear, and increase in learning; that the man of understanding may attain to sound counsel;

Afin d’entendre les discours sentencieux, et ce qui est élégamment dit ; les paroles des sages, et leurs énigmes.

Para entender parábola y declaración; palabras de sabios, y sus dichos oscuros.

To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

La crainte de l’Eternel est la principale science ; mais les fous méprisent la sagesse et l’instruction.

El principio de la sabiduría es el temor de Jehová: los insensatos desprecian la sabiduría y la enseñanza.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but the foolish despise wisdom and instruction.

Mon fils, écoute l’instruction de ton père, et n’abandonne point l’enseignement de ta mère.

Oye, hijo mío, la doctrina de tu padre, y no desprecies la dirección de tu madre:

My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

My son, listen to your father’s instruction, and don’t forsake your mother’s teaching;

Car ce seront des grâces enfilées ensemble autour de ta tête, et des colliers autour de ton cou.

Porque adorno de gracia serán á tu cabeza, y collares á tu cuello.

For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

for they will be a garland to grace your head, and chains around your neck.

Mon fils, si les pécheurs te veulent attirer, ne t’y accorde point.

Hijo mío, si los pecadores te quisieren engañar, no consientas.

My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

My son, if sinners entice you, don’t consent.

S’ils disent : Viens avec nous, dressons des embûches pour tuer ; épions secrètement l’innocent, quoiqu’il ne nous en ait point donné de sujet ;

Si dijeren: Ven con nosotros, pongamos asechanzas á la sangre, acechemos sin motivo al inocente;

If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:

If they say, “Come with us. Let’s lie in wait for blood. Let’s lurk secretly for the innocent without cause.

Engloutissons-les tout vifs, comme le sépulcre ; et tout entiers, comme ceux qui descendent en la fosse ;

Los tragaremos vivos como el sepulcro, y enteros, como los que caen en sima;

Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:

Let’s swallow them up alive like Sheol, and whole, like those who go down into the pit.

Nous trouverons toute sorte de biens précieux, nous remplirons nos maisons de butin ;

Hallaremos riquezas de todas suertes, henchiremos nuestras casas de despojos;

We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:

We’ll find all valuable wealth. We’ll fill our houses with plunder.

Tu y auras ton lot parmi nous, il n’y aura qu’une bourse pour nous tous.

Echa tu suerte entre nosotros; tengamos todos una bolsa:

Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:

You shall cast your lot among us. We’ll all have one purse”—

Mon fils, ne te mets point en chemin avec eux ; retire ton pied de leur sentier.

Hijo mío, no andes en camino con ellos; aparta tu pie de sus veredas:

My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:

my son, don’t walk on the path with them. Keep your foot from their path,

Parce que leurs pieds courent au mal, et se hâtent pour répandre le sang.

Porque sus pies correrán al mal, é irán presurosos á derramar sangre.

For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.

for their feet run to evil. They hurry to shed blood.

Car comme c’est sans sujet que le rets est étendu devant les yeux de tout ce qui a des ailes ;

Porque en vano se tenderá la red ante los ojos de toda ave;

Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.

For the net is spread in vain in the sight of any bird;

Ainsi ceux-ci dressent des embûches contre le sang de ceux-là, et épient secrètement leurs vies.

Mas ellos á su propia sangre ponen asechanzas, y á sus almas tienden lazo.

And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.

but these lay in wait for their own blood. They lurk secretly for their own lives.

Tel est le train de tout homme convoiteux de gain déshonnête, lequel enlèvera la vie de ceux qui y sont adonnés.

Tales son las sendas de todo el que es dado á la codicia, la cual prenderá el alma de sus poseedores.

So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.

So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain. It takes away the life of its owners.

La souveraine Sapience crie hautement au dehors, elle fait retentir sa voix dans les rues.

La sabiduría clama de fuera, da su voz en las plazas:

Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:

Wisdom calls aloud in the street. She utters her voice in the public squares.

Elle crie dans les carrefours, là où on fait le plus de bruit, aux entrées des portes, elle prononce ses paroles par la ville :

Clama en los principales lugares de concurso; en las entradas de las puertas de la ciudad dice sus razones:

She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,

She calls at the head of noisy places. At the entrance of the city gates, she utters her words:

Sots, dit-elle, jusques à quand aimerez-vous la sottise ? Et jusqu’à quand les moqueurs prendront-ils plaisir à la moquerie, et les fous auront-ils en haine la science ?

¿Hasta cuándo, oh simples, amaréis la simpleza, y los burladores desearán el burlar, y los insensatos aborrecerán la ciencia?

How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?

“How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? How long will mockers delight themselves in mockery, and fools hate knowledge?

Etant repris par moi, convertissez-vous ; voici, je vous donnerai de mon Esprit en abondance, et je vous ferai connaître mes paroles.

Volveos á mi reprensión: he aquí yo os derramaré mi espíritu, y os haré saber mis palabras.

Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.

Turn at my reproof. Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you. I will make known my words to you.

Parce que j’ai crié, et que vous avez refusé d’ouïr ; parce que j’ai étendu ma main, et qu’il n’y a eu personne qui y prit garde ;

Por cuanto llamé, y no quisisteis; extendí mi mano, y no hubo quien escuchase;

Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

Because I have called, and you have refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no one has paid attention;

Et parce que vous avez rejeté tout mon conseil, et que vous n’avez point agréé que je vous reprisse ;

Antes desechasteis todo consejo mío, y mi reprensión no quisisteis:

But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

but you have ignored all my counsel, and wanted none of my reproof;

Aussi je me rirai de votre calamité, je me moquerai quand votre effroi surviendra.

También yo me reiré en vuestra calamidad, y me burlaré cuando os viniere lo que teméis;

I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;

I also will laugh at your disaster. I will mock when calamity overtakes you,

Quand votre effroi surviendra comme une ruine, et que votre calamité viendra comme un tourbillon ; quand la détresse et l’angoisse viendront sur vous ;

Cuando viniere como una destrucción lo que teméis, y vuestra calamidad llegare como un torbellino; cuando sobre vosotros viniere tribulación y angustia.

When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when your disaster comes on like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come on you.

Alors on criera vers moi, mais je ne répondrai point ; on me cherchera de grand matin, mais on ne me trouvera point.

Entonces me llamarán, y no responderé; buscarme han de mañana, y no me hallarán:

Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

Then they will call on me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me,

Parce qu’ils auront haï la science, et qu’ils n’auront point choisi la crainte de l’Eternel.

Por cuanto aborrecieron la sabiduría, y no escogieron el temor de Jehová,

For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

because they hated knowledge, and didn’t choose the fear of the LORD.

Ils n’ont point aimé mon conseil ; ils ont dédaigné toutes mes répréhensions.

Ni quisieron mi consejo, y menospreciaron toda reprensión mía:

They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.

They wanted none of my counsel. They despised all my reproof.

Qu’ils mangent donc le fruit de leur voie, et qu’ils se rassasient de leurs conseils.

Comerán pues del fruto de su camino, y se hartarán de sus consejos.

Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

Therefore they will eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own schemes.

Car l’aise des sots les tue, et la prospérité des fous les perd.

Porque el reposo de los ignorantes los matará, y la prosperidad de los necios los echará á perder.

For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.

For the backsliding of the simple will kill them. The careless ease of fools will destroy them.

Mais celui qui m’écoutera, habitera en sûreté, et sera à son aise sans être effrayé d’aucun mal.

Mas el que me oyere, habitará confiadamente, y vivirá reposado, sin temor de mal.

But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

But whoever listens to me will dwell securely, and will be at ease, without fear of harm.”
