para aprender la sabiduría y la disciplina,
Para entender sabiduría y doctrina; para conocer las razones prudentes;
To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding;
to know wisdom and instruction; to discern the words of understanding;
entender los consejos prudentes, y recibir la instrucción de la buena doctrina, la justicia, la rectitud y la equidad;
Para recibir el consejo de prudencia, justicia, y juicio y equidad;
To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity;
to receive instruction in wise dealing, in righteousness, justice, and equity;
a fin de que los pequeñuelos adquieran sagacidad y discreción, y los mozos saber y entendimiento.
Para dar sagacidad á los simples, y á los jóvenes inteligencia y cordura.
To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.
to give prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young man—
El sabio que escuchare estas parábolas se hará más sabio; y al que las entendiere le servirán de timón.
Oirá el sabio, y aumentará el saber; y el entendido adquirirá consejo;
A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:
that the wise man may hear, and increase in learning; that the man of understanding may attain to sound counsel;
Atinará su significación y la interpretación de ellas; comprenderá los dichos de los sabios y sus enigmas.
Para entender parábola y declaración; palabras de sabios, y sus dichos oscuros.
To understand a proverb, and the interpretation; the words of the wise, and their dark sayings.

El temor del Señor es el principio de la sabiduría. Los insensatos desprecian la sabiduría y la doctrina.
El principio de la sabiduría es el temor de Jehová: los insensatos desprecian la sabiduría y la enseñanza.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but the foolish despise wisdom and instruction.
Tú, ¡oh hijo mío!, escucha las correcciones de tu padre, y no deseches las advertencias de tu madre.
Oye, hijo mío, la doctrina de tu padre, y no desprecies la dirección de tu madre:
My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
My son, listen to your father’s instruction, and don’t forsake your mother’s teaching;
Ellas serán para ti como una corona para tu cabeza, y como un collar precioso para tu cuello.
Porque adorno de gracia serán á tu cabeza, y collares á tu cuello.
For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.
for they will be a garland to grace your head, and chains around your neck.
Hijo mío, por más que te halaguen los pecadores, no condesciendas con ellos.
Hijo mío, si los pecadores te quisieren engañar, no consientas.
My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.
My son, if sinners entice you, don’t consent.
Si te dijeren: Ven con nosotros, pongámonos en acecho para matar al prójimo, armemos por mero antojo ocultos lazos al inocente,
Si dijeren: Ven con nosotros, pongamos asechanzas á la sangre, acechemos sin motivo al inocente;
If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:
If they say, “Come with us. Let’s lie in wait for blood. Let’s lurk secretly for the innocent without cause.
traguémoslo vivo, como traga el sepulcro los cadáveres, y todo entero, como si cayese en una sima;
Los tragaremos vivos como el sepulcro, y enteros, como los que caen en sima;
Let us swallow them up alive as the grave; and whole, as those that go down into the pit:
Let’s swallow them up alive like Sheol, and whole, like those who go down into the pit.
y encontraremos con su ruina toda suerte de riquezas, y henchiremos de despojos nuestras casas;
Hallaremos riquezas de todas suertes, henchiremos nuestras casas de despojos;
We shall find all precious substance, we shall fill our houses with spoil:
We’ll find all valuable wealth. We’ll fill our houses with plunder.
une tu suerte con la nuestra, sea una sola la bolsa de todos nosotros;
Echa tu suerte entre nosotros; tengamos todos una bolsa:
Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:
You shall cast your lot among us. We’ll all have one purse”—
no sigas, oh hijo mío, sus pasos; guárdate de andar por sus sendas;
Hijo mío, no andes en camino con ellos; aparta tu pie de sus veredas:
My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
my son, don’t walk on the path with them. Keep your foot from their path,
porque sus pies corren hacia la maldad, y van apresurados a derramar la sangre inocente.
Porque sus pies correrán al mal, é irán presurosos á derramar sangre.
For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.
for their feet run to evil. They hurry to shed blood.
Mas en vano se tiende la red ante los ojos de los pájaros voladores.
Porque en vano se tenderá la red ante los ojos de toda ave;
Surely in vain the net is spread in the sight of any bird.
For the net is spread in vain in the sight of any bird;
Las asechanzas que arman los impíos, se convierten también a veces contra su propia vida, y sus maquinaciones y engaños sirven para perderse a sí mismos.
Mas ellos á su propia sangre ponen asechanzas, y á sus almas tienden lazo.
And they lay wait for their own blood; they lurk privily for their own lives.

Así que el camino o la conducta que siguen todos los avarientos, lleva arrebatadamente sus almas a la perdición.
Tales son las sendas de todo el que es dado á la codicia, la cual prenderá el alma de sus poseedores.
So are the ways of every one that is greedy of gain; which taketh away the life of the owners thereof.
So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain. It takes away the life of its owners.
La sabiduría enseña en público; levanta su voz en medio de las plazas;
La sabiduría clama de fuera, da su voz en las plazas:
Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:
Wisdom calls aloud in the street. She utters her voice in the public squares.
se hace oír en los concursos de gente; expone sus útiles documentos en las puertas de la ciudad, y dice a todos los hombres:
Clama en los principales lugares de concurso; en las entradas de las puertas de la ciudad dice sus razones:
She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying,
She calls at the head of noisy places. At the entrance of the city gates, she utters her words:
¿Hasta cuándo, a manera de párvulos, habéis de amar las niñerías? ¿Hasta cuándo, necios, apeteceréis las cosas que os son nocivas; e imprudentes, aborrecéis la sabiduría?
¿Hasta cuándo, oh simples, amaréis la simpleza, y los burladores desearán el burlar, y los insensatos aborrecerán la ciencia?
How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
“How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? How long will mockers delight themselves in mockery, and fools hate knowledge?
Convertíos a la fuerza de mis reprensiones; mirad que os comunicaré mi espíritu y os enseñaré mi doctrina.
Volveos á mi reprensión: he aquí yo os derramaré mi espíritu, y os haré saber mis palabras.
Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.
Turn at my reproof. Behold, I will pour out my spirit on you. I will make known my words to you.
Mas ya que estuve yo llamando, y vosotros no respondistéis; os alargué mi mano y ninguno se dio por entendido;
Por cuanto llamé, y no quisisteis; extendí mi mano, y no hubo quien escuchase;
Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
Because I have called, and you have refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no one has paid attention;
menospreciasteis todos mis consejos, y ningún caso hicisteis de mis reprensiones,
Antes desechasteis todo consejo mío, y mi reprensión no quisisteis:
But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:
but you have ignored all my counsel, and wanted none of my reproof;
yo también miraré con risa vuestra perdición, y me mofaré de vosotros cuando os sobrevenga lo que temíais.
También yo me reiré en vuestra calamidad, y me burlaré cuando os viniere lo que teméis;
I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
I also will laugh at your disaster. I will mock when calamity overtakes you,
Cuando de improviso os asalte la calamidad, y la muerte se os arroje encima como un torbellino; cuando os acometa la tribulación y la angustia,
Cuando viniere como una destrucción lo que teméis, y vuestra calamidad llegare como un torbellino; cuando sobre vosotros viniere tribulación y angustia.
When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when your disaster comes on like a whirlwind, when distress and anguish come on you.
entonces me invocarán los impíos, y no los oiré; madrugarán a buscarme y no me hallarán,
Entonces me llamarán, y no responderé; buscarme han de mañana, y no me hallarán:
Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:
Then they will call on me, but I will not answer. They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me,
en pena de haber aborrecido la instrucción y abandonado el temor de Dios,
Por cuanto aborrecieron la sabiduría, y no escogieron el temor de Jehová,
For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
because they hated knowledge, and didn’t choose the fear of the LORD.
desatendiendo mis consejos, y burlándose de todas mis correcciones.
Ni quisieron mi consejo, y menospreciaron toda reprensión mía:
They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
They wanted none of my counsel. They despised all my reproof.
Comerán, pues, los frutos de su mala conducta, y se saciarán de los productos de sus perversos consejos.
Comerán pues del fruto de su camino, y se hartarán de sus consejos.
Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.
Therefore they will eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own schemes.
La indocilidad causará a los ignorantes su perdición; y aquella que neciamente creen ser su felicidad, será su ruina.
Porque el reposo de los ignorantes los matará, y la prosperidad de los necios los echará á perder.
For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
For the backsliding of the simple will kill them. The careless ease of fools will destroy them.
Mas el que me escuchare, reposará exento de todo temor, y nadará en la abundancia, libre de todo mal.
Mas el que me oyere, habitará confiadamente, y vivirá reposado, sin temor de mal.
But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.
But whoever listens to me will dwell securely, and will be at ease, without fear of harm.”
