Willst du deine Augen darauf hinfliegen lassen, und siehe, fort ist es? Denn sicherlich schafft es sich Flügel wie der Adler, der zum Himmel fliegt.
¿Has de poner tus ojos en las riquezas, siendo ningunas? porque hacerse han alas, como alas de águila, y volarán al cielo.
Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.
Why do you set your eyes on that which is not? For it certainly sprouts wings like an eagle and flies in the sky.
Iss nicht das Brot des Missgünstigen, und lass dich nicht nach seinen Leckerbissen gelüsten.
No comas pan de hombre de mal ojo, ni codicies sus manjares:
Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats:

Denn wie er es abmisst in seiner Seele, so ist er. „Iss und trink!“, spricht er zu dir, aber sein Herz ist nicht mit dir.
Porque cual es su pensamiento en su alma, tal es él. Come y bebe, te dirá; mas su corazón no está contigo.
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.

Rede nicht zu den Ohren eines Toren, denn er wird die Einsicht deiner Worte verachten.
No hables á oídos del necio; porque menospreciará la prudencia de tus razones.
Speak not in the ears of a fool: for he will despise the wisdom of thy words.

Verrücke nicht die alte Grenze, und dringe nicht ein in die Felder der Waisen.
No traspases el término antiguo, ni entres en la heredad de los huérfanos:

Don’t move the ancient boundary stone. Don’t encroach on the fields of the fatherless,
Denn ihr Erlöser ist stark; er wird ihren Rechtsstreit gegen dich führen.
Porque el defensor de ellos es el Fuerte, el cual juzgará la causa de ellos contra ti.
For their redeemer is mighty; he shall plead their cause with thee.
for their Defender is strong. He will plead their case against you.
Bring dein Herz zur Unterweisung her, und deine Ohren zu den Worten der Erkenntnis.
Aplica tu corazón á la enseñanza, y tus oídos á las palabras de sabiduría.

Entziehe dem Knaben nicht die Züchtigung; wenn du ihn mit der Rute schlägst, wird er nicht sterben.
No rehuses la corrección del muchacho: porque si lo hirieres con vara, no morirá.
Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die.
Don’t withhold correction from a child. If you punish him with the rod, he will not die.
Du schlägst ihn mit der Rute, und du errettest seine Seele von dem Scheol.
Tú lo herirás con vara, y librarás su alma del infierno.
Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell.

Mein Sohn, wenn dein Herz weise ist, so wird auch mein Herz sich freuen;

und meine Nieren werden frohlocken, wenn deine Lippen Geradheit reden.

Dein Herz beneide nicht die Sünder, sondern beeifere sich jeden Tag um die Furcht des HERRN.

The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.

Sein Ende ist, dass er beißt wie eine Schlange und sticht wie eine Viper.
Mas al fin como serpiente morderá, y como basilisco dará dolor:
At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.
In the end, it bites like a snake, and poisons like a viper.
Deine Augen werden Seltsames sehen, und dein Herz wird verkehrte Dinge reden.

Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast.

„Man hat mich geschlagen, es schmerzte mich nicht; man hat mich geprügelt, ich fühlte es nicht. Wann werde ich aufwachen? Ich will es wieder tun, will ihn wieder aufsuchen.“
Y dirás: Hiriéronme, mas no me dolió; azotáronme, mas no lo sentí; cuando despertare, aun lo tornaré á buscar.
They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.
“They hit me, and I was not hurt! They beat me, and I don’t feel it! When will I wake up? I can do it again. I will look for more.”
