car je suis moi-même le plus insensé des hommes, et la sagesse des mortels n'est point en moi
Ciertamente más rudo soy yo que ninguno, ni tengo entendimiento de hombre.
Surely I am more brutish than any man, and have not the understanding of a man.
“Surely I am the most ignorant man, and don’t have a man’s understanding.
mais Dieu m'a enseigné la sagesse, et je connais la doctrine des saints.
Yo ni aprendí sabiduría, ni conozco la ciencia del Santo.
I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy.
I have not learned wisdom, neither do I have the knowledge of the Holy One.
Qui donc est monté au ciel et en est descendu ? Qui a rassemblé les vents dans un pli de Son manteau ? Qui a contenu les eaux comme dans un vêtement ? Qui a pouvoir sur les extrémités de la terre ? Quel est Son Nom ? Quel est le nom de Ses enfants ?
¿Quién subió al cielo, y descendió? ¿quién encerró los vientos en sus puños? ¿quién ató las aguas en un paño? ¿quién afirmó todos los términos de la tierra? ¿cuál es su nombre, y el nombre de su hijo, si sabes?
Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son’s name, if thou canst tell?

N'ajoute rien à Ses paroles, de peur qu'Il ne te reprenne et ne t'accuse de mensonge.
No añadas á sus palabras, porque no te reprenda, y seas hallado mentiroso.

Seigneur, je Te demande deux choses : Ne me retire pas Ta grâce avant que je meure ;

Vanidad y palabra mentirosa aparta de mí. No me des pobreza ni riquezas; manténme del pan que he menester;
Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:

de peur que, rassasié, je ne devienne trompeur, et ne dise : Qui me voit ? ou que, poussé par le besoin, je ne dérobe, et que je ne parjure le Nom du Seigneur.
No sea que me harte, y te niegue, y diga, ¿Quién es Jehová? ó no sea que siendo pobre, hurte, y blasfeme el nombre de mi Dios.

la trace d'un aigle dans les airs, celle d'un serpent dans les rochers, les sentiers d'un ruisseau qui vogue sur l'eau, et les voies d'un homme dans sa jeunesse.

Por tres cosas se alborota la tierra, y la cuarta no puede sufrir:

un esclave devenu roi ; un insensé regorgeant de biens ;
Por el siervo cuando reinare; y por el necio cuando se hartare de pan;
For a servant when he reigneth; and a fool when he is filled with meat;
For a servant when he is king, a fool when he is filled with food,
une servante qui a supplanté sa maîtresse, et une méchante femme réunie à un bon mari.
Por la aborrecida cuando se casare; y por la sierva cuando heredare á su señora.
For an odious woman when she is married; and an handmaid that is heir to her mistress.

Il y a sur la terre quatre êtres bien petits, et ils sont plus sages que les sages
Cuatro cosas son de las más pequeñas de la tierra, y las mismas son más sabias que los sabios:

la fourmi, qui n'a point de force, et prépare en été sa nourriture ;
Las hormigas, pueblo no fuerte, y en el verano preparan su comida;
The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer;
The ants are not a strong people, yet they provide their food in the summer.
le hérisson, peuple débile, qui fait sa demeure sur les rochers ;
Los conejos, pueblo nada esforzado, y ponen su casa en la piedra;
The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks;
The hyraxes are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks.
la sauterelle, qui n'a point de roi et marche comme une armée en bon ordre, au commandement d'une seule ;
Las langostas, no tienen rey, y salen todas acuadrilladas;
The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;

et le lézard moucheté, qui se tient droit, et, quoique facile à prendre, habite les forteresses des rois.

Il y a trois êtres dont la démarche est belle, et un quatrième dont le maintien est majestueux

le lionceau, le plus fort des animaux, qui ne recule devant rien, et ne redoute aucune bête ;
El león, fuerte entre todos los animales, que no torna atrás por nadie;

le coq, qui se promène, plein d'ardeur, parmi les poules ; et le bouc qui conduit le troupeau, et le roi qui gouverne une nation.

If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast thought evil, lay thine hand upon thy mouth.

Trais le lait avec trop de force, il deviendra du beurre ; blesse-toi les narines, il en sortira du sang ; cherche querelle, il s'ensuivra des rixes et des procès.
Ciertamente el que exprime la leche, sacará manteca; y el que recio se suena las narices, sacará sangre: y el que provoca la ira, causará contienda.
Surely the churning of milk bringeth forth butter, and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood: so the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife.
