PALABRAS del rey Lemuel; la profecía con que le enseñó su madre.
The words of king Lemuel, the prophecy that his mother taught him.
The words of King Lemuel—the revelation which his mother taught him:
“¡Hijo mío! ¡Hijo de mi vientre! ¡Hijo de mis promesas!
¿Qué, hijo mío? ¿y qué, hijo de mi vientre? ¿y qué, hijo de mis deseos?
What, my son? and what, the son of my womb? and what, the son of my vows?
“Oh, my son! Oh, son of my womb! Oh, son of my vows!
No desperdicies tu fuerza con las mujeres, ni sigas los pasos que destruyen a los reyes.
No des á las mujeres tu fuerza, ni tus caminos á lo que es para destruir los reyes.
Give not thy strength unto women, nor thy ways to that which destroyeth kings.
Don’t give your strength to women, nor your ways to that which destroys kings.
No es para los reyes, Lemuel, no es para los reyes beber mucho vino, ni para los gobernantes andar buscando licor.
No es de los reyes, oh Lemuel, no es de los reyes beber vino, ni de los príncipes la cerveza.
It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
It is not for kings, Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, nor for princes to say, ‘Where is strong drink?’
Porque si beben, se olvidan de la ley y les niegan sus derechos a los que sufren.
No sea que bebiendo olviden la ley, y perviertan el derecho de todos los hijos afligidos.
Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted.

Dale licor al que se está muriendo, y vino al que está lleno de amargura.
Dad la cerveza al desfallecido, y el vino á los de amargo ánimo:
Give strong drink unto him that is ready to perish, and wine unto those that be of heavy hearts.

¡Que beban y se olviden de su pobreza! ¡Que no se acuerden más de sus penas!
Beban, y olvídense de su necesidad, y de su miseria no más se acuerden.
Let him drink, and forget his poverty, and remember his misery no more.

Habla por los que no pueden hablar; defiende los derechos de los desamparados.
Abre tu boca por el mudo, en el juicio de todos los hijos de muerte.
Open thy mouth for the dumb in the cause of all such as are appointed to destruction.

¡Habla y juzga con justicia! ¡Defiende al pobre y al necesitado!”.
Abre tu boca, juzga justicia, y el derecho del pobre y del menesteroso.

¿Quién podrá encontrar una mujer ejemplar? ¡Vale mucho más que las piedras preciosas!
Mujer fuerte, ¿quién la hallará? porque su estima sobrepuja largamente á la de piedras preciosas.
Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies.
Who can find a worthy woman? For her value is far above rubies.
Su esposo confía plenamente en ella y nunca le faltarán ganancias.
El corazón de su marido está en ella confiado, y no tendrá necesidad de despojo.
The heart of her husband doth safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil.

Ella le trae bienestar y no problemas, todos los días de su vida.
Darále ella bien y no mal, todos los días de su vida.
She will do him good and not evil all the days of her life.

Sale a buscar lana y lino, y con sus propias manos trabaja feliz.
Buscó lana y lino, y con voluntad labró de sus manos.
She seeketh wool, and flax, and worketh willingly with her hands.
She seeks wool and flax, and works eagerly with her hands.
Es como los barcos de los comerciantes, que traen su comida desde lejos.
Fué como navío de mercader: trae su pan de lejos.
She is like the merchants’ ships; she bringeth her food from afar.
She is like the merchant ships. She brings her bread from afar.
Se levanta cuando todavía es de noche, prepara el desayuno para su familia y les da sus tareas a las criadas.
Levantóse aun de noche, y dió comida á su familia, y ración á sus criadas.
She riseth also while it is yet night, and giveth meat to her household, and a portion to her maidens.
She rises also while it is yet night, gives food to her household, and portions for her servant girls.
Examina un terreno y lo compra; con sus ganancias planta un viñedo.
Consideró la heredad, y compróla; y plantó viña del fruto de sus manos.
She considereth a field, and buyeth it: with the fruit of her hands she planteth a vineyard.

Se faja bien el vestido y se dispone a trabajar; ¡es una mujer de brazos fuertes!
Ciñó sus lomos de fortaleza, y esforzó sus brazos.
She girdeth her loins with strength, and strengtheneth her arms.
She arms her waist with strength, and makes her arms strong.
Ella ve que sus negocios prosperan; su lámpara no se apaga por la noche.
Gustó que era buena su granjería: su candela no se apagó de noche.
She perceiveth that her merchandise is good: her candle goeth not out by night.
She perceives that her merchandise is profitable. Her lamp doesn’t go out by night.
Sus manos saben usar la rueca y sus dedos manejan el huso.
Aplicó sus manos al huso, y sus manos tomaron la rueca.
She layeth her hands to the spindle, and her hands hold the distaff.
She lays her hands to the distaff, and her hands hold the spindle.
Siempre tiende la mano a los pobres y ayuda a los necesitados.
Alargó su mano al pobre, y extendió sus manos al menesteroso.
She stretcheth out her hand to the poor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.
She opens her arms to the poor; yes, she extends her hands to the needy.
Cuando nieva, no se preocupa por su familia, porque todos están bien abrigados.
No tendrá temor de la nieve por su familia, porque toda su familia está vestida de ropas dobles.

Su esposo es muy respetado en la ciudad, cuando se sienta a hablar con los jefes del país.
Conocido es su marido en las puertas, cuando se sienta con los ancianos de la tierra.

Ella hace ropa de lino y la vende; también hace cinturones para los comerciantes.
Hizo telas, y vendió; y dió cintas al mercader.
She maketh fine linen, and selleth it; and delivereth girdles unto the merchant.
She makes linen garments and sells them, and delivers sashes to the merchant.
Se reviste de fuerza y dignidad, y afronta el futuro con una sonrisa.
Fortaleza y honor son su vestidura; y en el día postrero reirá.
Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in time to come.
Strength and dignity are her clothing. She laughs at the time to come.
Cuando habla, lo hace con sabiduría; cuando enseña, lo hace con amor.
Abrió su boca con sabiduría: y la ley de clemencia está en su lengua.
She openeth her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness.

Está pendiente de todo lo que pasa en su casa y nunca come el pan de la flojera.
Considera los caminos de su casa, y no come el pan de balde.

Sus hijos se levantan y la felicitan; su esposo también la alaba y dice:
Levantáronse sus hijos, y llamáronla bienaventurada; y su marido también la alabó.
Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.

“Hay muchas mujeres buenas, pero tú las superas a todas”.
Muchas mujeres hicieron el bien; mas tú las sobrepujaste á todas.
Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all.

La belleza es engañosa y la hermosura no dura, pero la mujer que teme a Yahvé merece ser alabada.
Engañosa es la gracia, y vana la hermosura: la mujer que teme á Jehová, ésa será alabada.
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.

¡Denle el reconocimiento que merece! ¡Que en toda la ciudad se alaben sus hechos!
