Pour que tu gardes les avis sensés Et que tes lèvres retiennent la connaissance.
Para que guardes consejo, y tus labios conserven la ciencia.

Car les lèvres de l'étrangère distillent du miel, Son gosier est plus onctueux que l'huile.
Porque los labios de la extraña destilan miel, y su paladar es más blando que el aceite:
For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:
For the lips of an adulteress drip honey. Her mouth is smoother than oil,
Mais la fin qu'elle prépare est amère comme l'absinthe, Cruelle comme une épée à deux tranchants.
Mas su fin es amargo como el ajenjo, agudo como cuchillo de dos filos.
But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.

Ses pieds descendent vers la mort ; Au sépulcre tendent ses pas.
Sus pies descienden á la muerte; sus pasos sustentan el sepulcro:
Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

Pour qu'elle ne prenne pas le sentier de la vie, Ses voies s'égarent elle ne sait où.
Sus caminos son instables; no los conocerás, si no considerares el camino de vida.
Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.
She gives no thought to the way of life. Her ways are crooked, and she doesn’t know it.
Maintenant donc, mes fils, écoutez-moi ; Ne vous détournez pas des paroles de ma bouche !
Ahora pues, hijos, oidme, y no os apartéis de las razones de mi boca.
Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
Now therefore, my sons, listen to me. Don’t depart from the words of my mouth.
Eloigne d'elle ton chemin Et ne t'approche pas des portes de sa maison,
Aleja de ella tu camino, y no te acerques á la puerta de su casa;
Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
Remove your way far from her. Don’t come near the door of her house,
De peur que tu ne livres ta vigueur à d'autres Et tes années à un homme cruel ;
Porque no des á los extraños tu honor, y tus años á cruel;
Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:
lest you give your honor to others, and your years to the cruel one;
De peur que des étrangers ne se rassasient de ton bien, Et que le fruit de tes peines ne passe dans la maison d'autrui ;
Porque no se harten los extraños de tu fuerza, y tus trabajos estén en casa del extraño;
Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;
lest strangers feast on your wealth, and your labors enrich another man’s house.
Que tu ne te lamentes, près de ta fin, Quand ton corps et ta chair se consumeront,
Y gimas en tus postrimerías, cuando se consumiere tu carne y tu cuerpo,
And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,
You will groan at your latter end, when your flesh and your body are consumed,
Et que tu ne dises : Comment ai-je pu haïr la discipline ? Comment mon cœur a-t-il dédaigné la répréhension,
Y digas: ¡Cómo aborrecí el consejo, y mi corazón menospreció la reprensión;
And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
and say, “How I have hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof.
Et n'ai-je point écouté la voix de mes maîtres, Ni incliné l'oreille vers ceux qui m'enseignaient ?
Y no oí la voz de los que me adoctrinaban, y á los que me enseñaban no incliné mi oído!
And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!
I haven’t obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor turned my ear to those who instructed me!
Peu s'en est fallu que je ne sois tombé dans tous les maux, Au milieu du peuple et de l'assemblée !
Casi en todo mal he estado, en medio de la sociedad y de la congregación.
I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
I have come to the brink of utter ruin, among the gathered assembly.”
Bois les eaux de ta citerne Et celles qui jaillissent de ton puits.
Bebe el agua de tu cisterna, y los raudales de tu pozo.
Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
Drink water out of your own cistern, running water out of your own well.
Tes sources doivent-elles se répandre au dehors, Tes ruisseaux à travers les rues ?
Derrámense por de fuera tus fuentes, en las plazas los ríos de aguas.
Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.
Should your springs overflow in the streets, streams of water in the public squares?
Qu'ils soient pour toi seul, Et non pour des étrangers avec toi !
Sean para ti solo, y no para los extraños contigo.
Let them be only thine own, and not strangers’ with thee.
Let them be for yourself alone, not for strangers with you.
Que ta source soit bénie ! Fais ta joie de la femme de ta jeunesse.
Sea bendito tu manantial; y alégrate con la mujer de tu mocedad.
Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

¿Y por qué, hijo mío, andarás ciego con la ajena, y abrazarás el seno de la extraña?
And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
For why should you, my son, be captivated with an adulteress? Why embrace the bosom of another?
Car les voies de l'homme sont devant les yeux de l'Eternel ; Il considère tous ses sentiers.
Pues que los caminos del hombre están ante los ojos de Jehová, y él considera todas sus veredas.
For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.
For the ways of man are before the LORD’s eyes. He examines all his paths.
Le méchant sera saisi par ses iniquités, Il sera pris par le filet de son péché.
Prenderán al impío sus propias iniquidades, y detenido será con las cuerdas de su pecado.
His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.
The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare him. The cords of his sin hold him firmly.
Il mourra pour n'avoir pas voulu de discipline, Il ira errant par l'excès de sa folie.
El morirá por falta de corrección; y errará por la grandeza de su locura.
He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
He will die for lack of instruction. In the greatness of his folly, he will go astray.
