afin d'observer une sage circonspection et de soumettre tes lèvres aux lois de la prudence.
Para que guardes consejo, y tus labios conserven la ciencia.
That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

C'est que les lèvres de l'étrangère distillent du miel, et son palais est plus onctueux que l'huile.
Porque los labios de la extraña destilan miel, y su paladar es más blando que el aceite:
For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:

Elle n'a garde de fouler le chemin de la vie; ses sentiers sont mouvants, tu ne t'en douterais pas.
Sus caminos son instables; no los conocerás, si no considerares el camino de vida.
Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.
She gives no thought to the way of life. Her ways are crooked, and she doesn’t know it.
Et maintenant, mes fils, écoutez-moi: ne vous écartez point des paroles de ma bouche.
Ahora pues, hijos, oidme, y no os apartéis de las razones de mi boca.
Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

Eloigne tes pas de cette étrangère; ne t'approche pas de l'entrée de sa maison.
Aleja de ella tu camino, y no te acerques á la puerta de su casa;

Sans cela tu livrerais à d'autres ton honneur, et les années de ta vie à un cruel ennemi.
Porque no des á los extraños tu honor, y tus años á cruel;
Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:

Des étrangers se gorgeraient du fruit de tes efforts, ton labeur enrichirait la maison d'un inconnu.
Porque no se harten los extraños de tu fuerza, y tus trabajos estén en casa del extraño;
Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;
lest strangers feast on your wealth, and your labors enrich another man’s house.
Tu te lamenterais sur ta destinée, en voyant se consumer ta chair et ta vigueur corporelle.
Y gimas en tus postrimerías, cuando se consumiere tu carne y tu cuerpo,
And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,
You will groan at your latter end, when your flesh and your body are consumed,
Tu dirais alors: "Ah! pourquoi ai-je pris en haine la morale, et mon cœur a-t-il repoussé toute remontrance?
Y digas: ¡Cómo aborrecí el consejo, y mi corazón menospreció la reprensión;
And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
and say, “How I have hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof.
Que n'ai-je écouté la voix de mes guides et prêté l'oreille à mes maîtres?
Y no oí la voz de los que me adoctrinaban, y á los que me enseñaban no incliné mi oído!
And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

Derrámense por de fuera tus fuentes, en las plazas los ríos de aguas.
Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.
Should your springs overflow in the streets, streams of water in the public squares?
Réserve-les à toi seul; que les étrangers ne les partagent pas avec toi!
Sean para ti solo, y no para los extraños contigo.
Let them be only thine own, and not strangers’ with thee.
Let them be for yourself alone, not for strangers with you.
Qu'ainsi soit bénie ta source, et puisses-tu trouver la joie dans la femme de ta jeunesse!

And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
For why should you, my son, be captivated with an adulteress? Why embrace the bosom of another?
Car l'Eternel a les yeux fixés sur les voies de l'homme, il observe la trace de tous ses pas.
Pues que los caminos del hombre están ante los ojos de Jehová, y él considera todas sus veredas.
For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.

L'impie est pris dans ses péchés comme dans un lacet, il s'embarrasse dans les entraves de son crime.
Prenderán al impío sus propias iniquidades, y detenido será con las cuerdas de su pecado.
His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.
The evil deeds of the wicked ensnare him. The cords of his sin hold him firmly.
II meurt faute de loi morale, égaré par l'excès de sa folie.
El morirá por falta de corrección; y errará por la grandeza de su locura.
He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
