My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,

bist du durch ein mündliches Versprechen gebunden und hast du dich durch eine Zusage verstricken lassen,
Enlazado eres con las palabras de tu boca, y preso con las razones de tu boca.
Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.

so tu doch ja dies, mein Sohn, damit du wieder frei wirst – denn du bist in die Gewalt deines Nächsten gefallen –: Gehe hin, wirf dich vor ihm nieder und bestürme deinen Nächsten mit Bitten!
Haz esto ahora, hijo mío, y líbrate, ya que has caído en la mano de tu prójimo: ve, humíllate, y asegúrate de tu amigo.

Un poco de sueño, un poco de dormitar, y cruzar por un poco las manos para reposo:

So kommt denn die Verarmung an dich heran wie ein Schnellläufer und der Mangel wie ein gewappneter Mann. –
Así vendrá tu necesidad como caminante, y tu pobreza como hombre de escudo.

wer hinterlistige Pläne im Herzen ersinnt, allezeit böse Anschläge schmiedet und Händel anstiftet.
Perversidades hay en su corazón, anda pensando mal en todo tiempo; enciende rencillas.
Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.

Darum wird ihn das Verderben plötzlich ereilen; unvermutet wird er zerschmettert werden unheilbar. –

wer als falscher Zeuge Lügen aussagt und Hader anstiftet unter Brüdern.
El testigo falso que habla mentiras, y el que enciende rencillas entre los hermanos.
A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Mein Sohn, halte das Gebot deines Vaters fest und laß nicht die Weisung deiner Mutter fahren!
Guarda, hijo mío, el mandamiento de tu padre, y no dejes la enseñanza de tu madre:
My son, keep thy father’s commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

Binde sie dir beständig aufs Herz, schlinge sie dir um den Hals!
Atalos siempre en tu corazón, enlázalos á tu cuello.
Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.

Wenn du umhergehst, möge sie dich geleiten; wenn du dich niedergelegt hast, möge sie dich bewachen, und bist du aufgewacht, so möge sie sich mit dir unterreden.
Te guiarán cuando anduvieres; cuando durmieres te guardarán; hablarán contigo cuando despertares.
When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.

Denn das Gebot ist eine Leuchte und die Weisung ein Licht; und die Zurechtweisungen der Zucht sind der Weg zum Leben(sglück):

sie sollen dich bewahren vor dem bösen Weibe, vor der glatten Zunge einer fremden Frau.
Para que te guarden de la mala mujer, de la blandura de la lengua de la extraña.
To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
to keep you from the immoral woman, from the flattery of the wayward wife’s tongue.
Trage in deinem Herzen kein Verlangen nach ihrer Schönheit und laß dich nicht von ihr durch ihre Blicke fangen!
No codicies su hermosura en tu corazón, ni ella te prenda con sus ojos:
Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
Don’t lust after her beauty in your heart, neither let her captivate you with her eyelids.
Denn der Preis für eine Buhldirne beträgt höchstens einen Laib Brot, aber eine verheiratete Frau macht Jagd auf die kostbare Seele.
Porque á causa de la mujer ramera es reducido el hombre á un bocado de pan; y la mujer caza la preciosa alma del varón.
For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.
For a prostitute reduces you to a piece of bread. The adulteress hunts for your precious life.
Kann wohl jemand Feuer in den Bausch des Gewandes fassen, ohne daß seine Kleider in Brand geraten?
¿Tomará el hombre fuego en su seno, sin que sus vestidos se quemen?
Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
Can a man scoop fire into his lap, and his clothes not be burned?
Oder kann jemand über glühende Kohlen gehen, ohne sich die Füße zu verbrennen?
¿Andará el hombre sobre las brasas, sin que sus pies se abrasen?
Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?
Or can one walk on hot coals, and his feet not be scorched?
Ebenso ergeht es dem, der sich mit der Ehefrau eines andern einläßt: keiner, der sie berührt, kommt ungestraft davon.
Así el que entrare á la mujer de su prójimo; no será sin culpa cualquiera que la tocare.
So he that goeth in to his neighbour’s wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.
So is he who goes in to his neighbor’s wife. Whoever touches her will not be unpunished.
Man verachtet den Dieb nicht, wenn er stiehlt, um seine Gier zu stillen, wenn ihn hungert;
No tienen en poco al ladrón, cuando hurtare para saciar su alma teniendo hambre:
Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;

doch wenn er ertappt wird, mag (muß) er siebenfachen Ersatz leisten, (am Ende gar) das ganze Vermögen seines Hauses hingeben;
Empero tomado, paga las setenas, da toda la sustancia de su casa.
But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.

wer aber mit einem verheirateten Weibe Ehebruch begeht, ist von Sinnen; nur wer sich selbst zugrunde richten will, tut so etwas.
Mas el que comete adulterio con la mujer, es falto de entendimiento: corrompe su alma el que tal hace.
But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.
He who commits adultery with a woman is void of understanding. He who does it destroys his own soul.
Schläge und Schmach trägt er als Lohn davon, und seine Schande ist unauslöschlich;
Plaga y vergüenza hallará; y su afrenta nunca será raída.
A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
He will get wounds and dishonor. His reproach will not be wiped away.
denn Eifersucht ist wilder Zorn eines Ehemannes, und am Tage der Rache übt er keine Schonung:
Porque los celos son el furor del hombre, y no perdonará en el día de la venganza.
For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
For jealousy arouses the fury of the husband. He won’t spare in the day of vengeance.
er läßt sich auf keinerlei Sühnegeld ein und bleibt unerbittlich, magst du ihm auch noch so viele Geschenke bieten.
