então, terás feito uma armadilha para ti mesmo por tua promessa, e tu foste pego pelas palavras de tua boca.

Neste caso, meu filho, faz isto e livra-te, pois caíste nas mãos do teu próximo. Vai, humilha-te e defende o teu caso perante o teu próximo.
Haz esto ahora, hijo mío, y líbrate, ya que has caído en la mano de tu prójimo: ve, humíllate, y asegúrate de tu amigo.
Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.

Não dês aos teus olhos sono algum, e às tuas pálpebras, nenhum descanso.

e a tua pobreza te alcançará como um ladrão e as tuas necessidades, como um soldado armado.
Así vendrá tu necesidad como caminante, y tu pobreza como hombre de escudo.
So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.

A pessoa inútil, o homem perverso, vive com um discurso tortuoso,
El hombre malo, el hombre depravado, anda en perversidad de boca;

piscando seus olhos, fazendo sinais com seus pés e apontando com seus dedos.
Guiña de sus ojos, habla con sus pies, indica con sus dedos;
He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;
who winks with his eyes, who signals with his feet, who motions with his fingers,
Ele planeja o mal com o seu coração enganoso; ele sempre atiça a discórdia.
Perversidades hay en su corazón, anda pensando mal en todo tiempo; enciende rencillas.
Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.
in whose heart is perverseness, who devises evil continually, who always sows discord.
Por isso, sua desgraça o alcançará em um instante; em um momento, ele será quebrado sem possibilidade de cura.

Meu filho, obedece ao mandamento de teu pai e não abandones o ensinamento de tua mãe.

Liga-os sempre ao teu coração; amarra-os ao redor do teu pescoço.
Atalos siempre en tu corazón, enlázalos á tu cuello.

Em teu coração, não cobice a sua beleza, e não sejas capturado por seus cílios.
No codicies su hermosura en tu corazón, ni ella te prenda con sus ojos:
Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
Don’t lust after her beauty in your heart, neither let her captivate you with her eyelids.
Dormir com uma prostituta pode custar-te um pedaço de pão, mas a esposa de outro pode custar a tua própria vida.
Porque á causa de la mujer ramera es reducido el hombre á un bocado de pan; y la mujer caza la preciosa alma del varón.
For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.
For a prostitute reduces you to a piece of bread. The adulteress hunts for your precious life.
Por acaso pode um homem transportar fogo junto ao seu peito sem queimar as suas roupas?
¿Tomará el hombre fuego en su seno, sin que sus vestidos se quemen?
Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
Can a man scoop fire into his lap, and his clothes not be burned?
Pode um homem andar sobre brasas sem queimar seus pés?
¿Andará el hombre sobre las brasas, sin que sus pies se abrasen?
Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?
Or can one walk on hot coals, and his feet not be scorched?
Assim é o homem que dorme com a mulher do seu próximo; aquele que dormir com ela não ficará impune.
Así el que entrare á la mujer de su prójimo; no será sin culpa cualquiera que la tocare.
So he that goeth in to his neighbour’s wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.
So is he who goes in to his neighbor’s wife. Whoever touches her will not be unpunished.
As pessoas não desprezam um ladrão se ele furta para saciar sua necessidade, quando está faminto.
No tienen en poco al ladrón, cuando hurtare para saciar su alma teniendo hambre:
Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;
Men don’t despise a thief if he steals to satisfy himself when he is hungry,
Contudo, se for pego, pagará sete vezes o que furtou. Ele deverá entregar tudo de valor em sua casa.
Empero tomado, paga las setenas, da toda la sustancia de su casa.
But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.
but if he is found, he shall restore seven times. He shall give all the wealth of his house.
Aquele que comete adultério não tem juízo; quem age assim destrói a si próprio.
Mas el que comete adulterio con la mujer, es falto de entendimiento: corrompe su alma el que tal hace.
But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.
He who commits adultery with a woman is void of understanding. He who does it destroys his own soul.
Feridas e vergonha são o que ele merece, e sua desgraça não se apagará.
Plaga y vergüenza hallará; y su afrenta nunca será raída.
A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
He will get wounds and dishonor. His reproach will not be wiped away.
Pois o ciúme faz um homem ficar furioso; ele não mostrará nenhuma misericórdia quando se vingar.
Porque los celos son el furor del hombre, y no perdonará en el día de la venganza.
For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
For jealousy arouses the fury of the husband. He won’t spare in the day of vengeance.
Ele não aceitará nenhuma compensação, e não poderá ser comprado, ainda que tu lhe ofereças muitos presentes.
No tendrá respeto á ninguna redención; ni querrá perdonar, aunque multipliques los dones.
