My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,
My son, if you have become collateral for your neighbor, if you have struck your hands in pledge for a stranger,
dando a sua palavra, você agora está preso nessa armadilha.
Enlazado eres con las palabras de tu boca, y preso con las razones de tu boca.
Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.

Então, meu filho, visto que você caiu nas mãos do seu próximo, faça todo o possível para sair dessa armadilha bem depressa, porque você está preso ao seu amigo pelo compromisso que assumiu. Procure esse amigo, humilhe-se e insista com ele.
Haz esto ahora, hijo mío, y líbrate, ya que has caído en la mano de tu prójimo: ve, humíllate, y asegúrate de tu amigo.
Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.

Não durma, nem descanse.
No des sueño á tus ojos, ni á tus párpados adormecimiento.
Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.

Se você conseguir escapar, se salvará como a gazela que escapa do caçador, como um pássaro que foge do alçapão.
Escápate como el corzo de la mano del cazador, y como el ave de la mano del parancero.
Deliver thyself as a roe from the hand of the hunter, and as a bird from the hand of the fowler.
Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, like a bird from the snare of the fowler.
Preguiçoso, observe bem as formigas, olhe os seus caminhos e seja sábio.
Ve á la hormiga, oh perezoso, mira sus caminos, y sé sabio;

Elas não têm nem supervisor, nem oficial, nem governante para dar ordens,
La cual no teniendo capitán, ni gobernador, ni señor,

e, mesmo assim, trabalham durante o verão, ajuntando provisão para o inverno.
Prepara en el verano su comida y allega en el tiempo de la siega su mantenimiento.

Ó preguiçoso, até quando você vai ficar deitado? Quando você se levantará da sua boa vida?
Perezoso, ¿hasta cuándo has de dormir? ¿cuándo te levantarás de tu sueño?
How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
How long will you sleep, sluggard? When will you arise out of your sleep?
“Ah, deixe-me descansar só um pouquinho mais!” Sim, descanse, cruze os braços mais um pouquinho,
Un poco de sueño, un poco de dormitar, y cruzar por un poco las manos para reposo:
Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

e a sua pobreza chegará de repente, como um ladrão, e a sua necessidade cairá sobre você de surpresa, como um bandido armado.
Así vendrá tu necesidad como caminante, y tu pobreza como hombre de escudo.
So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
so your poverty will come as a robber, and your scarcity as an armed man.
O perverso, o homem inútil, não tem caráter. Suas palavras são maldosas;
El hombre malo, el hombre depravado, anda en perversidad de boca;
A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.
A worthless person, a man of iniquity, is he who walks with a perverse mouth,
ele demonstra suas verdadeiras intenções com o piscar dos olhos, com o movimento dos pés e por meio de sinais com os dedos.
Guiña de sus ojos, habla con sus pies, indica con sus dedos;
He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;
who winks with his eyes, who signals with his feet, who motions with his fingers,
Seu coração está cheio de engano; ele passa o tempo todo planejando novas maneiras de fazer o mal e espalhar o ódio entre outras pessoas.
Perversidades hay en su corazón, anda pensando mal en todo tiempo; enciende rencillas.
Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.
in whose heart is perverseness, who devises evil continually, who always sows discord.
Por isso, a desgraça virá de repente; ele será destruído subitamente, e não haverá remédio para ele.
Por tanto su calamidad vendrá de repente; súbitamente será quebrantado, y no habrá remedio.
Therefore shall his calamity come suddenly; suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.
Therefore his calamity will come suddenly. He will be broken suddenly, and that without remedy.
Há seis coisas que o Senhor odeia, e uma última que ele simplesmente detesta:
Seis cosas aborrece Jehová, y aun siete abomina su alma:
These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

olhos arrogantes, a língua mentirosa, mãos que derramam sangue inocente,
Los ojos altivos, la lengua mentirosa, las manos derramadoras de sangre inocente,
A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,

o coração que só pensa em fazer o mal, pés que se apressam para fazer o mal,
El corazón que maquina pensamientos inicuos, los pies presurosos para correr al mal,
An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,
a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are swift in running to mischief,
a testemunha falsa que profere mentiras para prejudicar alguém, e o que espalha discórdia entre irmãos.
El testigo falso que habla mentiras, y el que enciende rencillas entre los hermanos.
A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
a false witness who utters lies, and he who sows discord among brothers.
Meu filho, obedeça aos mandamentos do seu pai; nunca deixe de seguir os conselhos de sua mãe.
Guarda, hijo mío, el mandamiento de tu padre, y no dejes la enseñanza de tu madre:
My son, keep thy father’s commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:
My son, keep your father’s commandment, and don’t forsake your mother’s teaching.
Grave as ordens de seus pais em seu coração; tenha-as sempre diante de você
Atalos siempre en tu corazón, enlázalos á tu cuello.
Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.
Bind them continually on your heart. Tie them around your neck.
e elas servirão de guia para os seus passos, dando-lhe um sono tranquilo, e a cada novo dia lhe ensinarão o que é certo.
Te guiarán cuando anduvieres; cuando durmieres te guardarán; hablarán contigo cuando despertares.
When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
When you walk, it will lead you. When you sleep, it will watch over you. When you awake, it will talk with you.
Pois esses mandamentos são como uma lâmpada, as instruções como luz, e as correções da disciplina são o caminho para uma vida feliz,
Porque el mandamiento es antorcha, y la enseñanza luz; y camino de vida las reprensiones de la enseñanza:
For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

para evitar que você seja vítima da mulher imoral e das palavras doces e mentirosas da mulher adúltera.
Para que te guarden de la mala mujer, de la blandura de la lengua de la extraña.
To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
to keep you from the immoral woman, from the flattery of the wayward wife’s tongue.
Não cobice em seu coração a beleza dessa mulher nem se deixe atrair pelos seus olhares provocantes.
No codicies su hermosura en tu corazón, ni ella te prenda con sus ojos:
Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
Don’t lust after her beauty in your heart, neither let her captivate you with her eyelids.
O preço de uma prostituta se reduz a um bocado de pão, mas a mulher adúltera, que trai o marido, anda à caça de vidas preciosas.
Porque á causa de la mujer ramera es reducido el hombre á un bocado de pan; y la mujer caza la preciosa alma del varón.
For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.
For a prostitute reduces you to a piece of bread. The adulteress hunts for your precious life.
Pode alguém colocar fogo no peito sem queimar a sua roupa?
¿Tomará el hombre fuego en su seno, sin que sus vestidos se quemen?
Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
Can a man scoop fire into his lap, and his clothes not be burned?
Pode alguém andar sobre brasas sem queimar os pés?
¿Andará el hombre sobre las brasas, sin que sus pies se abrasen?
Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?
Or can one walk on hot coals, and his feet not be scorched?
Assim acontece com alguém que rouba a mulher de outro homem; ninguém que a toque ficará sem castigo!
Así el que entrare á la mujer de su prójimo; no será sin culpa cualquiera que la tocare.
So he that goeth in to his neighbour’s wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.
So is he who goes in to his neighbor’s wife. Whoever touches her will not be unpunished.
Os homens não desprezam o ladrão que rouba para saciar a alma, quando ele rouba para matar a fome.
No tienen en poco al ladrón, cuando hurtare para saciar su alma teniendo hambre:
Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;
Men don’t despise a thief if he steals to satisfy himself when he is hungry,
Porém, se for apanhado em flagrante, terá que pagar sete vezes o valor que roubou, mesmo que para isso seja preciso vender tudo o que tem.
Empero tomado, paga las setenas, da toda la sustancia de su casa.
But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.
but if he is found, he shall restore seven times. He shall give all the wealth of his house.
Só mesmo um homem sem juízo seria capaz de roubar a mulher de outro homem! Só mesmo alguém que deseja destruir sua própria vida faria uma coisa dessas!
Mas el que comete adulterio con la mujer, es falto de entendimiento: corrompe su alma el que tal hace.
But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.
He who commits adultery with a woman is void of understanding. He who does it destroys his own soul.
O seu destino será o sofrimento, e a sua vergonha nunca se apagará,
Plaga y vergüenza hallará; y su afrenta nunca será raída.
A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
He will get wounds and dishonor. His reproach will not be wiped away.
porque o marido traído ficará furioso, dominado pelo ciúme, não terá misericórdia quando se vingar.
Porque los celos son el furor del hombre, y no perdonará en el día de la venganza.
For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
For jealousy arouses the fury of the husband. He won’t spare in the day of vengeance.
Ele não aceitará qualquer pagamento; nem os melhores presentes acabarão com a sua raiva.
No tendrá respeto á ninguna redención; ni querrá perdonar, aunque multipliques los dones.
He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.
