tu es pris au piège de tes promesses; tu es devenu le prisonnier de ta parole.
Enlazado eres con las palabras de tu boca, y preso con las razones de tu boca.
Thou art snared with the words of thy mouth, thou art taken with the words of thy mouth.

Fais donc ceci, mon fils, pour recouvrer ta liberté, puisque tu es tombé au pouvoir d'autrui: va, insiste avec énergie et livre un assaut à ton prochain.
Haz esto ahora, hijo mío, y líbrate, ya que has caído en la mano de tu prójimo: ve, humíllate, y asegúrate de tu amigo.
Do this now, my son, and deliver thyself, when thou art come into the hand of thy friend; go, humble thyself, and make sure thy friend.

N'accorde pas de sommeil à tes yeux ni de repos à tes paupières.
No des sueño á tus ojos, ni á tus párpados adormecimiento.
Give not sleep to thine eyes, nor slumber to thine eyelids.

Cependant, la pauvreté s'introduit chez toi comme un rôdeur, et la misère comme un guerrier armé.
Así vendrá tu necesidad como caminante, y tu pobreza como hombre de escudo.
So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
so your poverty will come as a robber, and your scarcity as an armed man.
Un personnage ignoble, un homme inique, c'est celui qui a recours au langage tortueux,
El hombre malo, el hombre depravado, anda en perversidad de boca;
A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.
A worthless person, a man of iniquity, is he who walks with a perverse mouth,
qui cligne des yeux, frappe des pieds, fait des signes avec ses doigts,
Guiña de sus ojos, habla con sus pies, indica con sus dedos;
He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers;
who winks with his eyes, who signals with his feet, who motions with his fingers,
et, le cœur plein d'artifices, passe son temps à méditer le mal, à déchaîner la discorde.
Perversidades hay en su corazón, anda pensando mal en todo tiempo; enciende rencillas.
Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord.
in whose heart is perverseness, who devises evil continually, who always sows discord.
Aussi le malheur fond-il soudain sur lui; d'un coup, il est brisé et sans retour.
Por tanto su calamidad vendrá de repente; súbitamente será quebrantado, y no habrá remedio.

les yeux hautains, la langue mensongère, les mains qui répandent le sang innocent;

le cœur qui ourdit des desseins pervers, les pieds impatients de courir au mal,
El corazón que maquina pensamientos inicuos, los pies presurosos para correr al mal,
An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

le faux témoin qui exhale le mensonge, enfin l'homme qui déchaîne la discorde entre frères.
El testigo falso que habla mentiras, y el que enciende rencillas entre los hermanos.
A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Mon fils, sois fidèle aux recommandations de ton père, ne délaisse pas l'enseignement de ta mère.
Guarda, hijo mío, el mandamiento de tu padre, y no dejes la enseñanza de tu madre:
My son, keep thy father’s commandment, and forsake not the law of thy mother:

Porte-les constamment attachés à ton cœur, noués à ton cou.
Atalos siempre en tu corazón, enlázalos á tu cuello.
Bind them continually upon thine heart, and tie them about thy neck.

Qu'ils te guident dans tes marches, veillent sur ton repos et te soient un sujet d'entretien à ton réveil.
Te guiarán cuando anduvieres; cuando durmieres te guardarán; hablarán contigo cuando despertares.
When thou goest, it shall lead thee; when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee; and when thou awakest, it shall talk with thee.
When you walk, it will lead you. When you sleep, it will watch over you. When you awake, it will talk with you.
Car le devoir est un flambeau, la doctrine une lumière, les dictées de la morale un gage de vie.
Porque el mandamiento es antorcha, y la enseñanza luz; y camino de vida las reprensiones de la enseñanza:
For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

C'est ainsi que tu seras protégé contre la femme vicieuse, contre la langue mielleuse de l'étrangère.
Para que te guarden de la mala mujer, de la blandura de la lengua de la extraña.
To keep thee from the evil woman, from the flattery of the tongue of a strange woman.
to keep you from the immoral woman, from the flattery of the wayward wife’s tongue.
Ne convoite pas sa beauté en ton cœur, ne te laisse pas prendre à la séduction de ses paupières.
No codicies su hermosura en tu corazón, ni ella te prenda con sus ojos:
Lust not after her beauty in thine heart; neither let her take thee with her eyelids.
Don’t lust after her beauty in your heart, neither let her captivate you with her eyelids.
Car pour une courtisane on peut être réduit à une miche de pain; une femme adultère prend dans ses filets un gibier de prix.
Porque á causa de la mujer ramera es reducido el hombre á un bocado de pan; y la mujer caza la preciosa alma del varón.
For by means of a whorish woman a man is brought to a piece of bread: and the adulteress will hunt for the precious life.
For a prostitute reduces you to a piece of bread. The adulteress hunts for your precious life.
Peut-on attiser du feu dans son sein, sans que les vêtements soient consumés?
¿Tomará el hombre fuego en su seno, sin que sus vestidos se quemen?
Can a man take fire in his bosom, and his clothes not be burned?
Can a man scoop fire into his lap, and his clothes not be burned?
Peut-on marcher sur des charbons ardents, sans se brûler les pieds jusqu'au vif?
¿Andará el hombre sobre las brasas, sin que sus pies se abrasen?
Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?
Or can one walk on hot coals, and his feet not be scorched?
Il en est ainsi de celui qui approche de la femme de son prochain; il ne restera pas indemne, celui qui la touche.
Así el que entrare á la mujer de su prójimo; no será sin culpa cualquiera que la tocare.
So he that goeth in to his neighbour’s wife; whosoever toucheth her shall not be innocent.
So is he who goes in to his neighbor’s wife. Whoever touches her will not be unpunished.
On ne méprise pas le voleur qui commet un larcin pour assouvir sa faim.
No tienen en poco al ladrón, cuando hurtare para saciar su alma teniendo hambre:
Men do not despise a thief, if he steal to satisfy his soul when he is hungry;
Men don’t despise a thief if he steals to satisfy himself when he is hungry,
Mais s'il est pris, il devra payer au septuple, donner tous les biens de sa maison.
Empero tomado, paga las setenas, da toda la sustancia de su casa.
But if he be found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give all the substance of his house.

Commettre un adultère c'est être insensé qui veut se perdre agit ainsi.
Mas el que comete adulterio con la mujer, es falto de entendimiento: corrompe su alma el que tal hace.
But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.
He who commits adultery with a woman is void of understanding. He who does it destroys his own soul.
Il ne recueillera que souffrances et déshonneur; sa honte sera ineffaçable.
Plaga y vergüenza hallará; y su afrenta nunca será raída.
A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
He will get wounds and dishonor. His reproach will not be wiped away.
Car la jalousie exaspère la fureur du mari: il sera sans pitié au jour de la vengeance.
Porque los celos son el furor del hombre, y no perdonará en el día de la venganza.
For jealousy is the rage of a man: therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
For jealousy arouses the fury of the husband. He won’t spare in the day of vengeance.
Il ne se laissera apaiser par aucune rançon; il se montrera inexorable, dusses-tu prodiguer les présents.
No tendrá respeto á ninguna redención; ni querrá perdonar, aunque multipliques los dones.
He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content, though thou givest many gifts.
