A Canticle in steps. O Lord, remember David and all his meekness,

Cántico gradual: de David. JEHOVÁ, no se ha envanecido mi corazón, ni mis ojos se enaltecieron; ni anduve en grandezas, ni en cosas para mí demasiado sublimes.

LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me.

LORD, my heart isn’t arrogant, nor my eyes lofty; nor do I concern myself with great matters, or things too wonderful for me.

how he swore to the Lord, how he made a vow to the God of Jacob:

En verdad que me he comportado y he acallado mi alma, como un niño destetado de su madre: como un niño destetado está mi alma.

Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child.

Surely I have stilled and quieted my soul, like a weaned child with his mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me.

I shall not enter into the tabernacle of my house, nor climb into the bed where I lie down;

I shall not give sleep to my eyes, nor slumber to my eyelids

Behold, we heard of it in Ephrathah. We discovered it in the fields of the forest.

Rise up, O Lord, into your resting place. You and the ark of your sanctification.

Let your priests be clothed with justice, and let your saints exult.

The Lord has sworn the truth to David, and he will not disappoint: I will set upon your throne from the fruit of your lineage.

If your sons will keep my covenant and these, my testimonies, which I will teach to them, then their sons will sit upon your throne even forever.

For the Lord has chosen Zion. He has chosen it as his dwelling place.
