To the chief musician, to Jeduthun, a psalm of David.(39:2) I said, I will guard my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will guard my mouth with a muzzle, while the wicked is before me.
Al Músico principal, á Jeduthún: Salmo de David. YO DIJE: Atenderé á mis caminos, para no pecar con mi lengua: guardaré mi boca con freno, en tanto que el impío fuere contra mí.
I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.
I said, “I will watch my ways, so that I don’t sin with my tongue. I will keep my mouth with a bridle while the wicked is before me.”
(39:3) I was dumb in deep silence, I was quite still, even from speaking good; but my pain was greatly excited;
Enmudecí con silencio, calléme aun respecto de lo bueno: y excitóse mi dolor.
I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred.
I was mute with silence. I held my peace, even from good. My sorrow was stirred.
(39:4) My heart was hot within me, in my selfcommuning there burnt a fire: then spoke I with my tongue,
Enardecióse mi corazón dentro de mí; encendióse fuego en mi meditación, y así proferí con mi lengua:
My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue,
My heart was hot within me. While I meditated, the fire burned. I spoke with my tongue:
(39:5) Let me know, O Lord, my end, and the measure of my days, what it is: I wish to know when I shall cease to be.
Hazme saber, Jehová, mi fin, y cuánta sea la medida de mis días; sepa yo cuánto tengo de ser del mundo.
LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am.
“LORD, show me my end, what is the measure of my days. Let me know how frail I am.
(39:6) Behold, measured out with the span hast thou made my days; and my whole duration is nothing before thee: yea, as nothing but vanity doth every man stand here. Selah.
He aquí diste á mis días término corto, y mi edad es como nada delante de ti: ciertamente es completa vanidad todo hombre que vive. (Selah.)
Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.
Behold, you have made my days hand widths. My lifetime is as nothing before you. Surely every man stands as a breath.” Selah.
(39:7) As nothing but a shadowy image doth man walk about, yea, for vanity only do all make a noise: he heapeth up his gains, and knoweth not who shall gather them.
Ciertamente en tinieblas anda el hombre; ciertamente en vano se inquieta: junta, y no sabe quién lo allegará.
Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.
“Surely every man walks like a shadow. Surely they busy themselves in vain. He heaps up, and doesn’t know who shall gather.
(39:8) And now, what shall I wait for, O Lord? my hope is in thee.
Y ahora, Señor, ¿qué esperaré? Mi esperanza en ti está.
And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.
Now, Lord, what do I wait for? My hope is in you.
(39:9) From all my transgressions deliver thou me: render me not the object of reproach of the worthless.
Líbrame de todas mis rebeliones; no me pongas por escarnio del insensato.
Deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish.
Deliver me from all my transgressions. Don’t make me the reproach of the foolish.
(39:10) I was dumb, I opened not my mouth; because thou hadst done it.
Enmudecí, no abrí mi boca; porque tú lo hiciste.
I was dumb, I opened not my mouth; because thou didst it.
I was mute. I didn’t open my mouth, because you did it.
(39:11) Remove thou thy plague away from me: from the blows of thy hand am I consumed.
Quita de sobre mí tu plaga; de la guerra de tu mano soy consumido.
Remove thy stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of thine hand.
Remove your scourge away from me. I am overcome by the blow of your hand.
(39:12) When thou with corrections chastisest man for iniquity, thou causest his excellence to melt away as if eaten by the moth: yea, nothing but vanity is every man. Selah.
Con castigos sobre el pecado corriges al hombre, y haces consumirse como de polilla su grandeza: ciertamente vanidad es todo hombre. (Selah.)
When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity. Selah.
When you rebuke and correct man for iniquity, you consume his wealth like a moth. Surely every man is but a breath.” Selah.
(39:13) Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear unto my cry; be not silent at my tears; for a stranger am I with thee, a sojourner, like all my fathers.
Oye mi oración, oh Jehová, y escucha mi clamor: no calles á mis lágrimas; porque peregrino soy para contigo, y advenedizo, como todos mis padres.
Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were.
“Hear my prayer, LORD, and give ear to my cry. Don’t be silent at my tears. For I am a stranger with you, a foreigner, as all my fathers were.
(39:14) Leave off from me, that I may recover strength, before I go hence, and am no more.
Déjame, y tomaré fuerzas, antes que vaya y perezca.
O spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go hence, and be no more.
Oh spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go away and exist no more.”
