As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.
As the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants after you, God.
(042-3) Meine Seele dürstet nach Gott, nach dem lebendigen Gott: Wann darf ich kommen und erscheinen vor Gottes Angesicht?
Mi alma tiene sed de Dios, del Dios vivo: ¡cuándo vendré, y pareceré delante de Dios!
My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?
(042-4) Meine Tränen sind meine Speise Tag und Nacht, weil man täglich zu mir sagt: Wo ist dein Gott?
Fueron mis lágrimas mi pan de día y de noche, mientras me dicen todos los días: ¿Dónde está tu Dios?
My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?
My tears have been my food day and night, while they continually ask me, “Where is your God?”
(042-5) Daran will ich denken, und meine Seele in mir ausschütten, wie ich dahinzog im Gedränge, sie führte zum Gotteshaus unter lautem Lobgesang, eine feiernde Menge.
Acordaréme de estas cosas, y derramaré sobre mí mi alma: cuando pasaré en el número, iré con ellos hasta la casa de Dios, con voz de alegría y de alabanza, haciendo fiesta la multitud.
When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.
These things I remember, and pour out my soul within me, how I used to go with the crowd, and led them to God’s house, with the voice of joy and praise, a multitude keeping a holy day.
(042-6) Was betrübst du dich, meine Seele, und bist so unruhig in mir? Harre auf Gott; denn ich werde ihm noch danken, daß er meines Angesichts Heil und mein Gott ist!
¿Por qué te abates, oh alma mía, y te conturbas en mí? Espera á Dios; porque aun le tengo de alabar por las saludes de su presencia.
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.
Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him for the saving help of his presence.
(042-7) Meine Seele ist betrübt; darum gedenke ich deiner im Lande des Jordan und der Hermonkuppen, am Berge Mizar.
Dios mío, mi alma está en mí abatida: acordaréme por tanto de ti desde tierra del Jordán, y de los Hermonitas, desde el monte de Mizhar.
O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.
My God, my soul is in despair within me. Therefore I remember you from the land of the Jordan, the heights of Hermon, from the hill Mizar.
(042-8) Eine Flut ruft der andern beim Rauschen deiner Wassergüsse; alle deine Wellen und Wogen sind über mich gegangen.
Un abismo llama á otro á la voz de tus canales: todas tus ondas y tus olas han pasado sobre mí.
Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.
Deep calls to deep at the noise of your waterfalls. All your waves and your billows have swept over me.
(042-9) Des Tages wolle der HERR seine Gnade verordnen, und des Nachts wird sein Lied bei mir sein, ein Gebet zu dem Gott meines Lebens.
De día mandará Jehová su misericordia, y de noche su canción será conmigo, y oración al Dios de mi vida.
Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.
The LORD will command his loving kindness in the daytime. In the night his song shall be with me: a prayer to the God of my life.
(042-10) Ich will sagen zu Gott, meinem Fels: Warum hast du meiner vergessen, warum muß ich traurig einhergehen, weil mein Feind mich drängt?
Diré á Dios: Roca mía, ¿por qué te has olvidado de mí? ¿Por qué andaré yo enlutado por la opresión del enemigo?
I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
I will ask God, my rock, “Why have you forgotten me? Why do I go mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?”
(042-11) Wie Zermalmung meiner Gebeine ist der Hohn meiner Bedränger, da sie täglich zu mir sagen: Wo ist dein Gott?
Mientras se están quebrantando mis huesos, mis enemigos me afrentan, diciéndome cada día: ¿Dónde está tu Dios?
As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy God?
As with a sword in my bones, my adversaries reproach me, while they continually ask me, “Where is your God?”
(042-12) Was betrübst du dich, meine Seele, und bist so unruhig in mir? Harre auf Gott, denn ich werde ihm noch danken, daß er meines Angesichts Heil und mein Gott ist!
¿Por qué te abates, oh alma mía, y por qué te conturbas en mí? Espera á Dios; porque aun le tengo de alabar; es él salvamento delante de mí, y el Dios mío.
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
Why are you in despair, my soul? Why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God! For I shall still praise him, the saving help of my countenance, and my God.
