We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.
We have heard with our ears, God; our fathers have told us what work you did in their days, in the days of old.
Nuestros antepasados nos han contado cómo echaste a las naciones paganas de esta tierra, y nos la diste toda, extendiendo a Israel de un extremo al otro del país.
Tú con tu mano echaste las gentes, y los plantaste á ellos; afligiste los pueblos, y los arrojaste.
How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out.
You drove out the nations with your hand, but you planted them. You afflicted the peoples, but you spread them abroad.
No fue con su espada, ni por su propia fuerza y habilidad que vencieron, sino por tu gran poder y porque tú les sonreíste y los favoreciste.
Porque no se apoderaron de la tierra por su espada, ni su brazo los libró; sino tu diestra, y tu brazo, y la luz de tu rostro, porque te complaciste en ellos.
For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.

Porque sólo por tu poder y mediante tu nombre pisoteamos a nuestros enemigos y los hacemos retroceder.
Por medio de ti sacudiremos á nuestros enemigos: en tu nombre atropellaremos á nuestros adversarios.
Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.
Through you, we will push down our adversaries. Through your name, we will tread down those who rise up against us.
No confío yo en mis armas: jamás podrían salvarme.
Porque no confiaré en mi arco, ni mi espada me salvará.

Sólo tú puedes darnos el triunfo sobre aquellos que nos odian y humillarlos.
Pues tú nos has guardado de nuestros enemigos, y has avergonzado á los que nos aborrecían.
But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us.

¡Dios, por siempre te glorificaremos! ¡Por siempre alabaremos tu nombre!

Y sin embargo, por un tiempo, Señor, nos has echado a un lado con deshonra, sin salir con nuestros ejércitos a la batalla.
Empero nos has desechado, y nos has hecho avergonzar; y no sales en nuestros ejércitos.
But thou hast cast off, and put us to shame; and goest not forth with our armies.
But now you rejected us, and brought us to dishonor, and don’t go out with our armies.
Nos hiciste retroceder ante nuestros enemigos. Los que están en contra nuestra, han saqueado nuestros campos.
Nos hiciste retroceder del enemigo, y saqueáronnos para sí los que nos aborrecían.
Thou makest us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves.
You make us turn back from the adversary. Those who hate us take plunder for themselves.
Nos has tratado como ovejas de matadero, y nos esparciste entre las naciones.
Pusístenos como á ovejas para comida, y esparcístenos entre las gentes.
Thou hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen.
You have made us like sheep for food, and have scattered us among the nations.
Nos vendiste, a tu pueblo amado, por una insignificancia. Consideraste que nada valíamos.
Has vendido tu pueblo de balde, y no pujaste en sus precios.
Thou sellest thy people for nought, and dost not increase thy wealth by their price.
You sell your people for nothing, and have gained nothing from their sale.
Las naciones vecinas se ríen y se mofan de nosotros por todo el mal que nos has enviado.
Pusístenos por vergüenza á nuestros vecinos, por escarnio y por burla á los que nos rodean.
Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.
You make us a reproach to our neighbors, a scoffing and a derision to those who are around us.
Nos has convertido en el hazmerreír de las naciones; todos los pueblos se burlan de nosotros.
Pusístenos por proverbio entre las gentes, por movimiento de cabeza en los pueblos.
Thou makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people.
You make us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.
Soy constante objeto de humillación; se me cae la cara de vergüenza.
Cada día mi vergüenza está delante de mí, y cúbreme la confusión de mi rostro,
My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,
All day long my dishonor is before me, and shame covers my face,
Todo lo que escucho son las burlas de los que me quieren poner en ridículo. Todo lo que veo son los deseos de venganza de mis enemigos.
Por la voz del que me vitupera y deshonra, por razón del enemigo y del que se venga.
For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and avenger.

Todo esto nos ha sucedido, a pesar de que nunca te olvidamos ni faltamos jamás a tu pacto.

All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant.

Nuestros corazones no te han abandonado, no nos hemos apartado ni un paso de tu senda.
No se ha vuelto atrás nuestro corazón, ni tampoco se han apartado nuestros pasos de tus caminos.
Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;
Our heart has not turned back, neither have our steps strayed from your path,
Sin embargo, nos castigas en inhóspito desierto y nos envías las tinieblas y la muerte.
Cuando nos quebrantaste en el lugar de los dragones, y nos cubriste con sombra de muerte,
Though thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death.
though you have crushed us in the haunt of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death.
Si hubiéramos dejado de adorar a nuestro Dios o hubiéramos alzado nuestras manos en oración a dioses extraños,
Si nos hubiésemos olvidado del nombre de nuestro Dios, ó alzado nuestras manos á dios ajeno,
If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god;
If we have forgotten the name of our God, or spread out our hands to a strange god,
¿no lo sabría Dios? Sí, él conoce los secretos de cada corazón.
¿No demandaría Dios esto? porque él conoce los secretos del corazón.
Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

Por tu causa, cada día nos llevan a la muerte; nos tratan como oveja para el matadero.

Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever.
Wake up! Why do you sleep, Lord? Arise! Don’t reject us forever.
¿Por qué apartas la mirada? ¿Por qué te desentiendes de nuestros dolores y opresión?
¿Por qué escondes tu rostro, y te olvidas de nuestra aflicción, y de la opresión nuestra?
Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression?
Why do you hide your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?
Estamos postrados con el rostro en el polvo.
Porque nuestra alma está agobiada hasta el polvo: nuestro vientre está pegado con la tierra.
For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth.
For our soul is bowed down to the dust. Our body clings to the earth.
¡Levántate, Señor, y acude en nuestra ayuda! Sálvanos por tu gran amor.
Levántate para ayudarnos, y redímenos por tu misericordia.
Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies’ sake.
Rise up to help us. Redeem us for your loving kindness’ sake.
