Hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world:

Ouçam, pessoas importantes e humildes, ricos e pobres, ouçam as minhas palavras!
Así los plebeyos como los nobles, el rico y el pobre juntamente.
Both low and high, rich and poor, together.

Falarei com sabedoria; minhas palavras revelarão pensamentos profundos do meu coração.
Mi boca hablará sabiduría; y el pensamiento de mi corazón inteligencia.
My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.
My mouth will speak words of wisdom. My heart will utter understanding.
Cantarei ao som da harpa a resposta a um dos mais complicados problemas da vida.
Acomodaré á ejemplos mi oído: declararé con el arpa mi enigma.
I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.
I will incline my ear to a proverb. I will solve my riddle on the harp.
Não é necessário ter medo dos dias difíceis e do sofrimento! Quando sou perseguido traiçoeiramente pelos meus inimigos,
¿Por qué he de temer en los días de adversidad, cuando la iniquidad de mis insidiadores me cercare?
Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?

aqueles que confiam em seus bens e se orgulham de suas riquezas, fico tranquilo.
Los que confían en sus haciendas, y en la muchedumbre de sus riquezas se jactan,
They that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;

Sei que nenhum deles, por mais rico que seja, pode salvar seu irmão da morte e pagar a Deus o preço da salvação.
Ninguno de ellos podrá en manera alguna redimir al hermano, ni dar á Dios su rescate.
None of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:

O resgate de uma vida não tem preço. Não se pode pensar em pagar

para continuar vivendo eternamente, sem enfrentar a morte.

Aqueles que são sábios devem finalmente morrer, da mesma maneira que os tolos e ignorantes! As suas riquezas ficarão nas mãos de outros.

For he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.

No fundo do coração pensam que a morte nunca vai chegar; pensam que viverão para sempre em suas terras e casas. Chegam a dar seus próprios nomes às suas propriedades!
En su interior tienen que sus casas serán eternas, y sus habitaciones para generación y generación: llamaron sus tierras de sus nombres.
Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.

Mas o homem, mesmo o que é muito importante, que gosta de exibir com orgulho as suas riquezas, vai acabar morrendo, como qualquer animal.
Mas el hombre no permanecerá en honra: es semejante á las bestias que perecen.
Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.
But man, despite his riches, doesn’t endure. He is like the animals that perish.
Este é o destino dos que confiam em si mesmos e o dos seus seguidores. No entanto, ainda há pessoas que aplaudem quem age assim!

Os homens são como ovelhas, a sepultura é o curral e a morte é o pastor. Quando chegam à sepultura, desaparece a glória dos homens; aí estão distantes das suas grandes mansões.
Como rebaños serán puestos en la sepultura; la muerte se cebará en ellos; y los rectos se enseñorearán de ellos por la mañana: y se consumirá su bien parecer en el sepulcro de su morada.
Like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.
They are appointed as a flock for Sheol. Death shall be their shepherd. The upright shall have dominion over them in the morning. Their beauty shall decay in Sheol, far from their mansion.
Mas Deus livrará a minha vida do poder da morte porque, quando eu morrer, ele me levará para si.
Empero Dios redimirá mi vida del poder de la sepultura, cuando me tomará. (Selah.)
But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.

Por isso, não fique triste e desanimado vendo o outro enriquecer e o luxo da sua casa aumentar.
No temas cuando se enriquece alguno, cuando aumenta la gloria de su casa;
Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
Don’t be afraid when a man is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
Quando eles morrerem, não poderão levar coisa alguma consigo. Sua glória e seu sucesso não irão com eles!
Porque en muriendo no llevará nada, ni descenderá tras él su gloria.
For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.
for when he dies he will carry nothing away. His glory won’t descend after him.
O homem pode passar toda a vida fazendo elogios a si mesmo; pode se tornar famoso pelas coisas boas que conseguiu para si,
Si bien mientras viviere, dirá dichosa á su alma: y tú serás loado cuando bien te tratares.

porém, mais cedo ou mais tarde, ele se juntará aos seus antepassados e irá para a escuridão eterna.

O homem pode ter muita fama e riqueza, mas se não tiver entendimento, morre como um animal qualquer.
El hombre en honra que no entiende, semejante es á las bestias que perecen.
Man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.
A man who has riches without understanding, is like the animals that perish.
