Cantori andavano innanzi, e sonatori dietro; E nel mezzo vergini che sonavano tamburi, dicendo:

Los cantores iban delante, los tañedores detrás; en medio, las doncellas con adufes.

The singers went before, the players on instruments followed after; among them were the damsels playing with timbrels.
