¡Cuán bondadoso es Dios para Israel, para los que son de corazón recto!
Salmo de Asaph. CIERTAMENTE bueno es Dios á Israel, á los limpios de corazón.
Truly God is good to Israel, even to such as are of a clean heart.
Surely God is good to Israel, to those who are pure in heart.
A mí me vacilaron los pies, a punto estuve de resbalar.
Mas yo, casi se deslizaron mis pies; por poco resbalaron mis pasos.
But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.
But as for me, my feet were almost gone. My steps had nearly slipped.
Porque me llené de celos al contemplar a los impíos, al ver la prosperidad de los pecadores.
Porque tuve envidia de los insensatos, viendo la prosperidad de los impíos.
For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
For I was envious of the arrogant, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
Ellos no tienen miedo a la muerte; sus penas son de corta duración.
Porque no hay ataduras para su muerte; antes su fortaleza está entera.
For there are no bands in their death: but their strength is firm.
For there are no struggles in their death, but their strength is firm.
Las miserias humanas ellos no las sienten, ni experimentan los desastres que sufren los demás hombres.
No están ellos en el trabajo humano; ni son azotados con los otros hombres.
They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men.
They are free from burdens of men, neither are they plagued like other men.
Por eso se llenan de soberbia, y se revisten de su injusticia e impiedad.
Por tanto soberbia los corona: cúbrense de vestido de violencia.
Therefore pride compasseth them about as a chain; violence covereth them as a garment.
Therefore pride is like a chain around their neck. Violence covers them like a garment.
Resaltan sobre su grasa sus maldades; se abandonaron a los deseos de su corazón.
Sus ojos están salidos de gruesos: logran con creces los antojos del corazón.
Their eyes stand out with fatness: they have more than heart could wish.
Their eyes bulge with fat. Their minds pass the limits of conceit.
Su pensar y su hablar todo malicia; hablan altamente de cometer la maldad.
Soltáronse, y hablan con maldad de hacer violencia; hablan con altanería.
They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily.
They scoff and speak with malice. In arrogance, they threaten oppression.
Han puesto su boca en el cielo, y su lengua va recorriendo la tierra.
Ponen en el cielo su boca, y su lengua pasea la tierra.
They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
They have set their mouth in the heavens. Their tongue walks through the earth.
Por eso paran aquí su consideración los de mi pueblo, y conciben gran amargura.
Por eso su pueblo vuelve aquí, y aguas de lleno les son exprimidas.
Therefore his people return hither: and waters of a full cup are wrung out to them.
Therefore their people return to them, and they drink up waters of abundance.
Y así dicen: ¿Si sabrá Dios todo esto? ¿Si tendrá de ello noticia el Altísimo?
Y dicen: ¿Cómo sabe Dios? ¿y hay conocimiento en lo alto?
And they say, How doth God know? and is there knowledge in the most High?
They say, “How does God know? Is there knowledge in the Most High?”
Mirad cómo ésos, siendo pecadores, abundan de bienes en el siglo y amontonan riquezas.
He aquí estos impíos, sin ser turbados del mundo, alcanzaron riquezas.
Behold, these are the ungodly, who prosper in the world; they increase in riches.
Behold, these are the wicked. Being always at ease, they increase in riches.
Yo también exclamé: Luego en vano he purificado mi corazón y lavado mis manos en compañía de los inocentes.
Verdaderamente en vano he limpiado mi corazón, y lavado mis manos en inocencia;
Verily I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.
Surely I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocence,
Pues soy azotado todo el día, y comienza ya mi castigo desde el amanecer.
Pues he sido azotado todo el día, y empezaba mi castigo por las mañanas.
For all the day long have I been plagued, and chastened every morning.
For all day long I have been plagued, and punished every morning.
Si yo pensare en hablar de este modo, claro está que condenaría la nación de tus hijos.
Si dijera yo, Discurriré de esa suerte; he aquí habría negado la nación de tus hijos:
If I say, I will speak thus; behold, I should offend against the generation of thy children.
If I had said, “I will speak thus”, behold, I would have betrayed the generation of your children.
Me ponía a discurrir sobre esto; pero difícil me será comprenderlo,
Pensaré pues para saber esto: es á mis ojos duro trabajo,
When I thought to know this, it was too painful for me;
When I tried to understand this, it was too painful for me—
hasta que yo entre en el santuario de Dios, y conozca el paradero que han de tener.
Hasta que venido al santuario de Dios, entenderé la postrimería de ellos.
Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.
until I entered God’s sanctuary, and considered their latter end.
Lo cierto es que tú les diste una prosperidad engañosa; los derribaste cuando ellos estaban elevándose más.
Ciertamente los has puesto en deslizaderos; en asolamientos los harás caer.
Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou castedst them down into destruction.
Surely you set them in slippery places. You throw them down to destruction.
¡Oh, y cómo fueron reducidos a total desolación! De repente fenecieron; perecieron de este modo por su maldad.
¡Cómo han sido asolados! ¡cuán en un punto! Acabáronse, fenecieron con turbaciones.
How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors.
How they are suddenly destroyed! They are completely swept away with terrors.
Como el sueño de uno que despierta, así, ¡oh Señor!, reducirás a la nada en tu ciudad la imagen de ellos.
Como sueño del que despierta, así, Señor, cuando despertares, menospreciarás sus apariencias.
As a dream when one awaketh; so, O Lord, when thou awakest, thou shalt despise their image.
As a dream when one wakes up, so, Lord, when you awake, you will despise their fantasies.
Porque mi corazón se inflamó, y padecieron tortura mis entrañas,
Desazonóse á la verdad mi corazón, y en mis riñones sentía punzadas.
Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.
For my soul was grieved. I was embittered in my heart.
y yo quedé aniquilado sin saber por qué.
Mas yo era ignorante, y no entendía: era como una bestia acerca de ti.
So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.
I was so senseless and ignorant. I was a brute beast before you.
Y estuve delante de ti como una bestia de carga, y yo siempre contigo sin apartarme jamás.
Con todo, yo siempre estuve contigo: trabaste de mi mano derecha.
Nevertheless I am continually with thee: thou hast holden me by my right hand.
Nevertheless, I am continually with you. You have held my right hand.
Tú me asiste de la mano derecha, y me guiaste según tu voluntad, y me acogiste con gloria.
Hasme guiado según tu consejo, y después me recibirás en gloria.
Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
You will guide me with your counsel, and afterward receive me to glory.
Y ciertamente ¿qué cosa puedo apetecer yo del cielo, ni qué desearé sobre la tierra fuera de ti, oh Dios mío?
¿A quién tengo yo en los cielos? Y fuera de ti nada deseo en la tierra.
Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee.
Whom do I have in heaven? There is no one on earth whom I desire besides you.
¡Ah! mi carne y mi corazón desfallecen, ¡oh Dios de mi corazón, Dios que eres la herencia mía por toda la eternidad!
Mi carne y mi corazón desfallecen: mas la roca de mi corazón y mi porción es Dios para siempre.
My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.
My flesh and my heart fails, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
Así es que los que de ti se alejan, perecerán; arrojarás a la perdición a todos aquellos que te quebrantan la fe.
Porque he aquí, los que se alejan de ti perecerán: tú cortarás á todo aquel que fornicando, de ti se aparta.
For, lo, they that are far from thee shall perish: thou hast destroyed all them that go a whoring from thee.
For, behold, those who are far from you shall perish. You have destroyed all those who are unfaithful to you.
Mas yo hallo mi bien en estar unido con Dios, en poner en el Señor Dios mi esperanza, para anunciar todas tus alabanzas en las puertas de la hija de Sión.
Y en cuanto á mí, el acercarme á Dios es el bien: he puesto en el Señor Jehová mi esperanza, para contar todas tus obras.
But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.
But it is good for me to come close to God. I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.
