1ASCOLTA, o popol mio, la mia dottrina; Porgete gli orecchi alle parole della mia bocca.
2Io aprirò la mia bocca in sentenza; Io sgorgherò detti notevoli di cose antiche;
3Le quali noi abbiamo udite, e sappiamo, E le quali i nostri padri ci han raccontate.
4Noi non le celeremo a' lor figliuoli, alla generazione a venire; Noi racconteremo le lodi del Signore, E la sua forza, e le sue maraviglie ch'egli ha fatte.
5Egli ha fermata la testimonianza in Giacobbe, Ed ha posta la Legge in Israele; Le quali egli comandò a' nostri padri di fare assapere a' lor figliuoli;
6Acciocchè la generazione a venire, i figliuoli che nascerebbero, le sapessero, E si mettessero a narrarle a' lor figliuoli;
7E ponessero in Dio la loro speranza, E non dimenticassero le opere di Dio. Ed osservassero i suoi comandamenti;
8E non fossero come i lor padri, Generazione ritrosa e ribella; Generazione che non dirizzò il cuor suo, Il cui spirito non fu leale inverso Dio.
9I figliuoli di Efraim, gente di guerra, buoni arcieri, Voltarono le spalle al dì della battaglia.
10Non avevano osservato il patto di Dio, Ed avevano ricusato di camminar nella sua Legge;
11Ed avevano dimenticate le sue opere, E le maraviglie ch'egli aveva lor fatte vedere.
12Egli aveva fatti miracoli in presenza de' padri loro, Nel paese di Egitto, nel territorio di Soan.
13Egli aveva fesso il mare, e li aveva fatti passare per mezzo; Ed aveva fermate le acque come un mucchio.
14E li aveva condotti di giorno colla nuvola, E tutta notte colla luce del fuoco.
15Egli aveva schiantate le rupi nel deserto, E li aveva copiosamente abbeverati, come di gorghi;
16Ed aveva fatto uscir de' ruscelli della roccia, E colare acque, a guisa di fiumi.
17Ma essi continuarono a peccar contro a lui, Provocando l'Altissimo a sdegno nel deserto;
18E tentarono Iddio nel cuor loro, Chiedendo vivanda a lor voglia;
19E parlarono contro a Dio, E dissero: Potrebbe Iddio Metterci tavola nel deserto?
20Ecco, egli percosse la roccia, e ne colarono acque, E ne traboccarono torrenti; Potrebbe egli eziandio dar del pane, O apparecchiar della carne al suo popolo?
21Perciò, il Signore, avendoli uditi, si adirò fieramente; Ed un fuoco si accese contro a Giacobbe, Ed anche l'ira gli montò contro ad Israele;
22Perciocchè non avevano creduto in Dio, E non si erano confidati nella sua salvazione;
23E pure egli aveva comandato alle nuvole di sopra, Ed aveva aperte le porte del cielo;
24Ed aveva fatta piovere sopra loro la manna da mangiare, Ed aveva loro dato del frumento del cielo.
25L'uomo mangiò del pane degli Angeli; Egli mandò loro della vivanda a sazietà.
26Egli fece levar nel cielo il vento orientale, E per la sua forza addusse l'Austro;
27E fece piover sopra loro della carne, a guisa di polvere; Ed uccelli, a giusa della rena del mare.
28E li fece cadere in mezzo al lor campo, D'intorno a' lor padiglioni.
29Ed essi mangiarono, e furono grandemente satollati; E Iddio fece lor venire ciò che desideravano.
30Essi non si erano ancora stolti dalla lor cupidigia; Avevano ancora il cibo loro nella bocca,
31Quando l'ira montò a Dio contro a loro, Ed uccise i più grassi di loro, Ed abbattè la scelta d'Israele.
32Con tutto ciò peccarono ancora, E non credettero alle sue maraviglie.
33Laonde egli consumò i lor giorni in vanità, E gli anni loro in ispaventi.
34Quando egli li uccideva, essi lo richiedevano, E ricercavano di nuovo Iddio.
35E si ricordavano che Iddio era la lor Rocca, E che l'Iddio altissimo era il lor Redentore.
36Ma lo lusingavano colla lor bocca, E gli mentivano colla lor lingua;
37E il cuor loro non era diritto inverso lui, E non erano leali nel suo patto.
38E pure egli, che è pietoso, purgò la loro iniquità, e non li distrusse; E più e più volte racquetò l'ira sua, e non commosse tutto il suo cruccio;
39E si ricordò ch'erano carne; Un fiato che passa, e non ritorna.
40Quante volte lo provocarono essi a sdegno nel deserto, E lo contristarono nella solitudine!
41E tornarono a tentare Iddio, E limitarono il Santo d'Israele.
42Essi non si erano ricordati della sua mano, Nè del giorno nel quale li aveva riscossi dal nemico.
43(Come egli aveva eseguiti i suoi segni in Egitto, E i suoi miracoli nel territorio di Soan.
44Ed aveva cangiati i fiumi, e i rivi degli Egizi in sangue, Talchè essi non ne potevano bere.
45Ed aveva mandata contro a loro una mischia d'insetti che li mangiarono; E rane, che li distrussero.
46Ed aveva dati i lor frutti a' bruchi, E le lor fatiche alle locuste.
47Ed aveva guastate le lor vigne colla gragnuola, E i lor sicomori colla tempesta.
48Ed aveva dati alla grandine i lor bestiami, E le lor gregge a' folgori.
49Ed aveva mandato sopra loro l'ardore della sua ira, Indegnazione, cruccio e distretta; Una mandata d'angeli maligni.
50Ed aveva appianato il sentiero alla sua ira, E non aveva scampata l'anima loro dalla morte, Ed aveva dato il lor bestiame alla mortalità.
51Ed aveva percossi tutti i primogeniti in Egitto, E le primizie della forza ne' tabernacoli di Cam.
52E ne aveva fatto partire il suo popolo, a guisa di pecore; E l'aveva condotto per lo deserto, come una mandra.
53E l'aveva guidato sicuramente, senza spavento; E il mare aveva coperti i lor nemici.
54Ed egli li aveva introdotti nella contrada della sua santità, Nel monte che la sua destra ha conquistato.
55Ed aveva scacciate le nazioni d'innanzi a loro, E le aveva fatte loro scadere in sorte di eredità, Ed aveva stanziate le tribù d'Israele nelle loro stanze.)
56Ed avevano tentato, e provocato a sdegno l'Iddio altissimo, E non avevano osservate le sue testimonianze.
57Anzi si erano tratti indietro, E si erano portati dislealmente, Come i lor padri; E si erano rivolti come un arco fallace;
58E l'avevano provocato ad ira co' loro alti luoghi, E commosso a gelosia colle loro sculture.
59Iddio aveva udite queste cose, e se n'era gravemente adirato, Ed aveva grandemente disdegnato Israele.
60Ed aveva abbandonato il tabernacolo di Silo; Il padiglione ch'egli aveva piantato per sua stanza fra gli uomini.
61Ed aveva abbandonata la sua forza, ad esser menata in cattività, E la sua gloria in man del nemico.
62Ed aveva dato il suo popolo alla spada, E si era gravemente adirato contro alla sua eredità.
63Il fuoco aveva consumati i suoi giovani; E le sue vergini non erano state lodate.
64I suoi sacerdoti erano caduti per la spada; E le sue vedove non avevano pianto.
65Poi il Signore si risvegliò, Come uno che fosse stato addormentato; Come un uomo prode, che dà gridi dopo il vino.
66E percosse i suoi nemici da tergo, E mise loro addosso un eterno vituperio.
67Ed avendo riprovato il tabernacolo di Giuseppe, E non avendo eletta la tribù di Efraim;
68Egli elesse la tribù di Giuda; Il monte di Sion, il quale egli ama.
69Ed edificò il suo santuario, a guisa di palazzi eccelsi; Come la terra ch'egli ha fondata in perpetuo.
70Ed elesse Davide, suo servitore, E lo prese dalle mandre delle pecore.
71Di dietro alle bestie allattanti Egli lo condusse a pascer Giacobbe, suo popolo; Ed Israele sua eredità.
72Ed egli li pasturò, secondo l'integrità del suo cuore; E li guidò, secondo il gran senno delle sue mani.

1Masquil de Asaph. ESCUCHA, pueblo mío, mi ley: inclinad vuestro oído á las palabras de mi boca.
2Abriré mi boca en parábola; hablaré cosas reservadas de antiguo:
3Las cuales hemos oído y entendido; que nuestros padres nos las contaron.
4No las encubriremos á sus hijos, contando á la generación venidera las alabanzas de Jehová, y su fortaleza, y sus maravillas que hizo.
5El estableció testimonio en Jacob, y pusó ley en Israel; la cual mandó á nuestros padres que la notificasen á sus hijos;
6Para que lo sepa la generación venidera, y los hijos que nacerán; y los que se levantarán, lo cuenten á sus hijos;
7A fin de que pongan en Dios su confianza, y no se olviden de las obras de Dios, y guarden sus mandamientos:
8Y no sean como sus padres, generación contumaz y rebelde; generación que no apercibió su corazón, ni fué fiel para con Dios su espíritu.
9Los hijos de Ephraim armados, flecheros, volvieron las espaldas el día de la batalla.
10No guardaron el pacto de Dios, ni quisieron andar en su ley:
11Antes se olvidaron de sus obras, y de sus maravillas que les había mostrado.
12Delante de sus padres hizo maravillas en la tierra de Egipto, en el campo de Zoán.
13Rompió la mar, é hízolos pasar; é hizo estar las aguas como en un montón.
14Y llevólos de día con nube, y toda la noche con resplandor de fuego.
15Hendió las peñas en el desierto: y dióles á beber como de grandes abismos;
16Pues sacó de la peña corrientes, é hizo descender aguas como ríos.
17Empero aun tornaron á pecar contra él, enojando en la soledad al Altísimo.
18Pues tentaron á Dios en su corazón, pidiendo comida á su gusto.
19Y hablaron contra Dios, diciendo: ¿Podrá poner mesa en el desierto?
20He aquí ha herido la peña, y corrieron aguas, y arroyos salieron ondeando: ¿podrá también dar pan? ¿aparejará carne á su pueblo?
21Por tanto oyó Jehová, é indignóse: y encendióse el fuego contra Jacob, y el furor subió también contra Israel;
22Por cuanto no habían creído á Dios, ni habían confiado en su salud:
23A pesar de que mandó á las nubes de arriba, y abrió las puertas de los cielos,
24E hizo llover sobre ellos maná para comer, y dióles trigo de los cielos.
25Pan de nobles comió el hombre: envióles comida á hartura.
26Movió el solano en el cielo, y trajo con su fortaleza el austro.
27E hizo llover sobre ellos carne como polvo, y aves de alas como arena de la mar.
28E hízolas caer en medio de su campo, alrededor de sus tiendas.
29Y comieron, y hartáronse mucho: cumplióles pues su deseo.
30No habían quitado de sí su deseo, aun estaba su vianda en su boca,
31Cuando vino sobre ellos el furor de Dios, y mató los más robustos de ellos, y derribó los escogidos de Israel.
32Con todo esto pecaron aún, y no dieron crédito á sus maravillas.
33Consumió por tanto en nada sus días, y sus años en la tribulación.
34Si los mataba, entonces buscaban á Dios; entonces se volvían solícitos en busca suya.
35Y acordábanse que Dios era su refugio, y el Dios Alto su redentor.
36Mas le lisonjeaban con su boca, y con su lengua le mentían:
37Pues sus corazones no eran rectos con él, ni estuvieron firmes en su pacto.
38Empero él misericordioso, perdonaba la maldad, y no los destruía: y abundó para apartar su ira, y no despertó todo su enojo.
39Y acordóse que eran carne; soplo que va y no vuelve.
40¡Cuántas veces lo ensañaron en el desierto, lo enojaron en la soledad!
41Y volvían, y tentaban á Dios, y ponían límite al Santo de Israel.
42No se acordaron de su mano, del día que los redimió de angustia;
43Cuando puso en Egipto sus señales, y sus maravillas en el campo de Zoán;
44Y volvió sus ríos en sangre, y sus corrientes, porque no bebiesen.
45Envió entre ellos una mistura de moscas que los comían, y ranas que los destruyeron.
46Dió también al pulgón sus frutos, y sus trabajos á la langosta.
47Sus viñas destruyó con granizo, y sus higuerales con piedra;
48Y entregó al pedrisco sus bestias, y al fuego sus ganados.
49Envió sobre ellos el furor de su saña, ira y enojo y angustia, con misión de malos ángeles.
50Dispuso el camino á su furor; no eximió la vida de ellos de la muerte, sino que entregó su vida á la mortandad.
51E hirió á todo primogénito en Egipto, las primicias de las fuerzas en las tiendas de Châm.
52Empero hizo salir á su pueblo como ovejas, y llevólos por el desierto, como un rebaño.
53Y guiólos con seguridad, que no tuvieron miedo; y la mar cubrió á sus enemigos.
54Metiólos después en los términos de su santuario, en este monte que ganó su mano derecha.
55Y echó las gentes de delante de ellos, y repartióles una herencia con cuerdas; é hizo habitar en sus moradas á las tribus de Israel.
56Mas tentaron y enojaron al Dios Altísimo, y no guardaron sus testimonios;
57Sino que se volvieron, y se rebelaron como sus padres: volviéronse como arco engañoso.
58Y enojáronlo con sus altos, y provocáronlo á celo con sus esculturas.
59Oyólo Dios, y enojóse, y en gran manera aborreció á Israel.
60Dejó por tanto el tabernáculo de Silo, la tienda en que habitó entre los hombres;
61Y dió en cautividad su fortaleza, y su gloria en mano del enemigo.
62Entregó también su pueblo á cuchillo, y airóse contra su heredad.
63El fuego devoró sus mancebos, y sus vírgenes no fueron loadas en cantos nupciales.
64Sus sacerdotes cayeron á cuchillo, y sus viudas no lamentaron.
65Entonces despertó el Señor á la manera del que ha dormido, como un valiente que grita excitado del vino:
66E hirió á sus enemigos en las partes posteriores: dióles perpetua afrenta.
67Y desechó el tabernáculo de José, y no escogió la tribu de Ephraim;
68Sino que escogió la tribu de Judá, el monte de Sión, al cual amó.
69Y edificó su santuario á manera de eminencia, como la tierra que cimentó para siempre.
70Y eligió á David su siervo, y tomólo de las majadas de las ovejas:
71De tras las paridas lo trajo, para que apacentase á Jacob su pueblo, y á Israel su heredad.
72Y apacentólos con entereza de su corazón; y pastoreólos con la pericia de sus manos.

1Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
2I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:
3Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
4We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.
5For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:
6That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:
7That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:
8And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.
9The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.
10They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;
11And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.
12Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.
13He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the waters to stand as an heap.
14In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.
15He clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths.
16He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.
17And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness.
18And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust.
19Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?
20Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide flesh for his people?
21Therefore the LORD heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel;
22Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation:
23Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,
24And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven.
25Man did eat angels’ food: he sent them meat to the full.
26He caused an east wind to blow in the heaven: and by his power he brought in the south wind.
27He rained flesh also upon them as dust, and feathered fowls like as the sand of the sea:
28And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations.
29So they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own desire;
30They were not estranged from their lust. But while their meat was yet in their mouths,
31The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel.
32For all this they sinned still, and believed not for his wondrous works.
33Therefore their days did he consume in vanity, and their years in trouble.
34When he slew them, then they sought him: and they returned and enquired early after God.
35And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer.
36Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues.
37For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant.
38But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.
39For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.
40How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!
41Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.
42They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.
43How he had wrought his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Zoan:
44And had turned their rivers into blood; and their floods, that they could not drink.
45He sent divers sorts of flies among them, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.
46He gave also their increase unto the caterpiller, and their labour unto the locust.
47He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycomore trees with frost.
48He gave up their cattle also to the hail, and their flocks to hot thunderbolts.
49He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, by sending evil angels among them.
50He made a way to his anger; he spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence;
51And smote all the firstborn in Egypt; the chief of their strength in the tabernacles of Ham:
52But made his own people to go forth like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.
53And he led them on safely, so that they feared not: but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.
54And he brought them to the border of his sanctuary, even to this mountain, which his right hand had purchased.
55He cast out the heathen also before them, and divided them an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
56Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies:
57But turned back, and dealt unfaithfully like their fathers: they were turned aside like a deceitful bow.
58For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.
59When God heard this, he was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel:
60So that he forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent which he placed among men;
61And delivered his strength into captivity, and his glory into the enemy’s hand.
62He gave his people over also unto the sword; and was wroth with his inheritance.
63The fire consumed their young men; and their maidens were not given to marriage.
64Their priests fell by the sword; and their widows made no lamentation.
65Then the Lord awaked as one out of sleep, and like a mighty man that shouteth by reason of wine.
66And he smote his enemies in the hinder parts: he put them to a perpetual reproach.
67Moreover he refused the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim:
68But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved.
69And he built his sanctuary like high palaces, like the earth which he hath established for ever.
70He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds:
71From following the ewes great with young he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance.
72So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands.

1Hear my teaching, my people. Turn your ears to the words of my mouth.
2I will open my mouth in a parable. I will utter dark sayings of old,
3which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
4We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, his strength, and his wondrous deeds that he has done.
5For he established a covenant in Jacob, and appointed a teaching in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children;
6that the generation to come might know, even the children who should be born; who should arise and tell their children,
7that they might set their hope in God, and not forget God’s deeds, but keep his commandments,
8and might not be as their fathers— a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that didn’t make their hearts loyal, whose spirit was not steadfast with God.
9The children of Ephraim, being armed and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.
10They didn’t keep God’s covenant, and refused to walk in his law.
11They forgot his doings, his wondrous deeds that he had shown them.
12He did marvelous things in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.
13He split the sea, and caused them to pass through. He made the waters stand as a heap.
14In the daytime he also led them with a cloud, and all night with a light of fire.
15He split rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink abundantly as out of the depths.

17Yet they still went on to sin against him, to rebel against the Most High in the desert.
18They tempted God in their heart by asking food according to their desire.
19Yes, they spoke against God. They said, “Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?
20Behold, he struck the rock, so that waters gushed out, and streams overflowed. Can he give bread also? Will he provide meat for his people?”
21Therefore the LORD heard, and was angry. A fire was kindled against Jacob, anger also went up against Israel,
22because they didn’t believe in God, and didn’t trust in his salvation.
23Yet he commanded the skies above, and opened the doors of heaven.
24He rained down manna on them to eat, and gave them food from the sky.
25Man ate the bread of angels. He sent them food to the full.
26He caused the east wind to blow in the sky. By his power he guided the south wind.
27He also rained meat on them as the dust, winged birds as the sand of the seas.
28He let them fall in the middle of their camp, around their habitations.
29So they ate, and were well filled. He gave them their own desire.
30They didn’t turn from their cravings. Their food was yet in their mouths,
31when the anger of God went up against them, killed some of their strongest, and struck down the young men of Israel.
32For all this they still sinned, and didn’t believe in his wondrous works.
33Therefore he consumed their days in vanity, and their years in terror.
34When he killed them, then they inquired after him. They returned and sought God earnestly.
35They remembered that God was their rock, the Most High God, their redeemer.
36But they flattered him with their mouth, and lied to him with their tongue.
37For their heart was not right with him, neither were they faithful in his covenant.
38But he, being merciful, forgave iniquity, and didn’t destroy them. Yes, many times he turned his anger away, and didn’t stir up all his wrath.
39He remembered that they were but flesh, a wind that passes away, and doesn’t come again.
40How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness, and grieved him in the desert!
41They turned again and tempted God, and provoked the Holy One of Israel.
42They didn’t remember his hand, nor the day when he redeemed them from the adversary;
43how he set his signs in Egypt, his wonders in the field of Zoan,
44he turned their rivers into blood, and their streams, so that they could not drink.
45He sent among them swarms of flies, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.
46He also gave their increase to the caterpillar, and their labor to the locust.
47He destroyed their vines with hail, their sycamore fig trees with frost.
48He also gave over their livestock to the hail, and their flocks to hot thunderbolts.
49He threw on them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, indignation, and trouble, and a band of angels of evil.
50He made a path for his anger. He didn’t spare their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence,
51and struck all the firstborn in Egypt, the chief of their strength in the tents of Ham.
52But he led out his own people like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.
53He led them safely, so that they weren’t afraid, but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.
54He brought them to the border of his sanctuary, to this mountain, which his right hand had taken.
55He also drove out the nations before them, allotted them for an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
56Yet they tempted and rebelled against the Most High God, and didn’t keep his testimonies,
57but turned back, and dealt treacherously like their fathers. They were twisted like a deceitful bow.
58For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their engraved images.
59When God heard this, he was angry, and greatly abhorred Israel,
60so that he abandoned the tent of Shiloh, the tent which he placed among men,
61and delivered his strength into captivity, his glory into the adversary’s hand.
62He also gave his people over to the sword, and was angry with his inheritance.
63Fire devoured their young men. Their virgins had no wedding song.
64Their priests fell by the sword, and their widows couldn’t weep.
65Then the Lord awakened as one out of sleep, like a mighty man who shouts by reason of wine.
66He struck his adversaries backward. He put them to a perpetual reproach.
67Moreover he rejected the tent of Joseph, and didn’t choose the tribe of Ephraim,
68But chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion which he loved.
69He built his sanctuary like the heights, like the earth which he has established forever.
70He also chose David his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds;
71from following the ewes that have their young, he brought him to be the shepherd of Jacob, his people, and Israel, his inheritance.
72So he was their shepherd according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.
