Nueva Biblia Viva (Open)
1¡Pueblo mío, oye mis enseñanzas! Abre tus oídos a lo que digo.
2Porque te hablaré en parábolas; te enseñaré lecciones escondidas en nuestro pasado;
3cosas que hemos oído y conocido, cosas que nuestros padres nos han contado.
4No esconderemos estas verdades a nuestros hijos; diremos a la generación venidera de las gloriosas obras del Señor, de su poder y de sus grandes milagros.
5Porque él dio sus mandatos a Jacob y a Israel sus leyes, y ordenó a nuestros padres que las enseñaran a sus hijos,
6para que estos a su vez las enseñaran a sus hijos, aun a los que estaban por nacer. De este modo, sus leyes se transmiten de generación en generación.
7Así, cada generación ha podido obedecer sus leyes y poner nuevamente su esperanza en Dios y no olvidarse de sus gloriosos milagros.
8No tenían que ser como sus padres: tercos, rebeldes, infieles, que no quieren entregarle a Dios su corazón.
9Los guerreros de Efraín, aunque bien armados, volvieron las espaldas y huyeron al llegar el día de la batalla,
10porque no cumplieron el pacto con Dios y no obedecían sus leyes.
11Se olvidaron de lo que él había hecho, los admirables milagros que él les había mostrado,
12de los milagros que hizo a la vista de sus padres en la tierra de Egipto, en la región de Zoán.
13Porque él abrió el mar ante ellos, y los guio a través del mismo. ¡Como muros a ambos lados de ellos se detuvieron las aguas!
14Durante el día los guio mediante una nube, y durante la noche mediante una columna de fuego.
15En el desierto abrió las rocas para suministrarles agua en abundancia, como si brotaran de una fuente.
16¡De la roca manaron corrientes que fluyeron como un río!
17Pero ellos siguieron en su rebeldía, pecando contra el Altísimo en el desierto.
18Con toda intención pusieron a Dios a prueba, exigiéndole comida a su antojo.
19Murmuraron contra Dios diciendo: «Dios no puede darnos comida en el desierto,
20sin embargo cuando golpeó la roca, el agua brotó como ríos, pero no puede darle a su pueblo pan y carne».
21Cuando el Señor oyó esto, se puso muy furioso y su enojo se encendió contra Jacob, su ira ardió contra Israel.
22Porque no creían en Dios ni confiaban en que él cuidaría de ellos.
23Desde lo alto dio una orden a la nubes, y se abrieron las puertas de los cielos.
24Hizo llover maná para que se alimentaran. ¡Les dio pan del cielo!
25¡Alimento de ángeles comieron! Les dio hasta que se saciaran.
26Y él llevó el viento oriental y al viento del sur guio con su gran poder.
27Hizo llover aves abundantes como polvo; nubes de aves como la arena de la playa.
28Hizo que las aves cayeran en medio de las tiendas.
29El pueblo comió hasta hartarse. Les dio lo que pedían.
30Mas apenas habían terminado de comer, aún tenían la carne en la boca,
31cuando se alzó contra ellos la ira del Señor, y mató a los hombres más fuertes, a los mejores de entre los jóvenes de Israel.
32Pero aun así el pueblo continuó pecando y rehusó creer en los milagros.
33Entonces él les acortó la vida y les dio años de terror.
34Si Dios los castigaba, entonces lo buscaban, se arrepentían y volvían a Dios.
35Entonces, recordaron que Dios era su roca; que su redentor era el Dios Altísimo.
36Pero sólo de boca lo seguían; le mentían con la lengua;
37lejos andaba su corazón. No cumplían con su pacto.
38Pero él fue misericordioso; les perdonaba sus pecados y no los destruía. Una y otra vez contuvo su ira.
39Porque se acordaba que eran simples mortales, que en un momento se desvanecen como un soplo del viento y nunca regresan.
40¡Cuántas veces se rebelaron contra él en aquellos años del desierto y le entristecieron el corazón!
41Una y otra vez pusieron a prueba la paciencia de Dios, y provocaron al Santo de Israel.
42Se olvidaron de su poder, y de cómo los había librado de sus enemigos;
43olvidaron sus señales milagrosas en Egipto, sus maravillas en la región de Zoán.
44Cómo volvió sangre sus ríos y nadie podía beber de sus aguas,
45y cómo envió enormes nubes de moscas que cubrieron la tierra, y cómo las ranas llenaron todo Egipto.
46Entregó a los gusanos sus cultivos. Las langostas consumieron sus cosechas.
47Mediante granizo les destruyó las viñas y sicómoros.
48Entregó su ganado al granizo y sus rebaños a los rayos.
49Sobre ellos desató el furor de su ira, derramando dolor y enemistad. Contra ellos mandó un ejército de ángeles destructores.
50Dio rienda suelta a su ira y no libró la vida de las egipcios, sino que los entregó a plagas.
51Luego mató al hijo mayor de cada familia egipcia: a cada retoño a lo largo de toda la tierra de Egipto.
52Pero a su pueblo lo guio como a un rebaño; seguro por el desierto.
53A salvo los guardó para que no temieran. Pero el mar se precipitó sobre los enemigos de ellos y se los tragó.
54Él los llevó a la frontera de su tierra santa, a esta tierra de colinas que para ellos él conquistó.
55Echó a las naciones que ocupaban la tierra, y a cada tribu de Israel le dio una porción de tierra como herencia.
56Pero aunque hizo todo esto por ellos, continuaron poniendo a prueba la paciencia de Dios; rebelándose contra el Dios Altísimo y negándose a cumplir sus mandatos.
57Fueron desleales y traidores, como sus padres; ¡tan falsos como un arco defectuoso!
58Lo hicieron enojar construyendo altares a otros dioses; con sus ídolos despertaron sus celos.
59Al ver esto, grande fue la ira de Dios, y él rechazó completamente al pueblo de Israel.
60Entonces abandonó su tabernáculo que estaba en Siló, en donde había morado entre los hombres,
61y permitió que el símbolo de su poder y gloria cayera cautivo en manos enemigas.
62Tan furioso estaba contra su propio pueblo, que dejó que los mataran a filo de espada.
63Sus jóvenes murieron a fuego, y sus doncellas perecieron sin haber alcanzado la edad de cantar sus cánticos nupciales.
64Sus sacerdotes fueron asesinados y sus viudas murieron sin que pudieran siquiera comenzar su lamento.
65Entonces se alzó el Señor como si hubiera estado durmiendo, como hombre poderoso que se despierta de un sueño causado por el vino;
66y derrotó a sus enemigos, y los rechazó, y los envió a eterna vergüenza.
67Desechó a la familia de José, no escogió a la tribu de Efraín,
68y eligió a la tribu de Judá, y al monte Sion, que él amaba.
69Allí edificó su imponente santuario, tan sólido y duradero como la tierra misma.
70Escogió a su siervo David, y lo llamó de los apriscos de las ovejas;
71y lo quitó de andar arriando los rebaños para que fuera el pastor de los descendientes de Jacob, pastor de Israel el pueblo de Dios;
72y él los cuidó con sincero corazón y mano diestra.

1Masquil de Asaph. ESCUCHA, pueblo mío, mi ley: inclinad vuestro oído á las palabras de mi boca.
2Abriré mi boca en parábola; hablaré cosas reservadas de antiguo:
3Las cuales hemos oído y entendido; que nuestros padres nos las contaron.
4No las encubriremos á sus hijos, contando á la generación venidera las alabanzas de Jehová, y su fortaleza, y sus maravillas que hizo.
5El estableció testimonio en Jacob, y pusó ley en Israel; la cual mandó á nuestros padres que la notificasen á sus hijos;
6Para que lo sepa la generación venidera, y los hijos que nacerán; y los que se levantarán, lo cuenten á sus hijos;
7A fin de que pongan en Dios su confianza, y no se olviden de las obras de Dios, y guarden sus mandamientos:
8Y no sean como sus padres, generación contumaz y rebelde; generación que no apercibió su corazón, ni fué fiel para con Dios su espíritu.
9Los hijos de Ephraim armados, flecheros, volvieron las espaldas el día de la batalla.
10No guardaron el pacto de Dios, ni quisieron andar en su ley:
11Antes se olvidaron de sus obras, y de sus maravillas que les había mostrado.
12Delante de sus padres hizo maravillas en la tierra de Egipto, en el campo de Zoán.
13Rompió la mar, é hízolos pasar; é hizo estar las aguas como en un montón.
14Y llevólos de día con nube, y toda la noche con resplandor de fuego.
15Hendió las peñas en el desierto: y dióles á beber como de grandes abismos;
16Pues sacó de la peña corrientes, é hizo descender aguas como ríos.
17Empero aun tornaron á pecar contra él, enojando en la soledad al Altísimo.
18Pues tentaron á Dios en su corazón, pidiendo comida á su gusto.
19Y hablaron contra Dios, diciendo: ¿Podrá poner mesa en el desierto?
20He aquí ha herido la peña, y corrieron aguas, y arroyos salieron ondeando: ¿podrá también dar pan? ¿aparejará carne á su pueblo?
21Por tanto oyó Jehová, é indignóse: y encendióse el fuego contra Jacob, y el furor subió también contra Israel;
22Por cuanto no habían creído á Dios, ni habían confiado en su salud:
23A pesar de que mandó á las nubes de arriba, y abrió las puertas de los cielos,
24E hizo llover sobre ellos maná para comer, y dióles trigo de los cielos.
25Pan de nobles comió el hombre: envióles comida á hartura.
26Movió el solano en el cielo, y trajo con su fortaleza el austro.
27E hizo llover sobre ellos carne como polvo, y aves de alas como arena de la mar.
28E hízolas caer en medio de su campo, alrededor de sus tiendas.
29Y comieron, y hartáronse mucho: cumplióles pues su deseo.
30No habían quitado de sí su deseo, aun estaba su vianda en su boca,
31Cuando vino sobre ellos el furor de Dios, y mató los más robustos de ellos, y derribó los escogidos de Israel.
32Con todo esto pecaron aún, y no dieron crédito á sus maravillas.
33Consumió por tanto en nada sus días, y sus años en la tribulación.
34Si los mataba, entonces buscaban á Dios; entonces se volvían solícitos en busca suya.
35Y acordábanse que Dios era su refugio, y el Dios Alto su redentor.
36Mas le lisonjeaban con su boca, y con su lengua le mentían:
37Pues sus corazones no eran rectos con él, ni estuvieron firmes en su pacto.
38Empero él misericordioso, perdonaba la maldad, y no los destruía: y abundó para apartar su ira, y no despertó todo su enojo.
39Y acordóse que eran carne; soplo que va y no vuelve.
40¡Cuántas veces lo ensañaron en el desierto, lo enojaron en la soledad!
41Y volvían, y tentaban á Dios, y ponían límite al Santo de Israel.
42No se acordaron de su mano, del día que los redimió de angustia;
43Cuando puso en Egipto sus señales, y sus maravillas en el campo de Zoán;
44Y volvió sus ríos en sangre, y sus corrientes, porque no bebiesen.
45Envió entre ellos una mistura de moscas que los comían, y ranas que los destruyeron.
46Dió también al pulgón sus frutos, y sus trabajos á la langosta.
47Sus viñas destruyó con granizo, y sus higuerales con piedra;
48Y entregó al pedrisco sus bestias, y al fuego sus ganados.
49Envió sobre ellos el furor de su saña, ira y enojo y angustia, con misión de malos ángeles.
50Dispuso el camino á su furor; no eximió la vida de ellos de la muerte, sino que entregó su vida á la mortandad.
51E hirió á todo primogénito en Egipto, las primicias de las fuerzas en las tiendas de Châm.
52Empero hizo salir á su pueblo como ovejas, y llevólos por el desierto, como un rebaño.
53Y guiólos con seguridad, que no tuvieron miedo; y la mar cubrió á sus enemigos.
54Metiólos después en los términos de su santuario, en este monte que ganó su mano derecha.
55Y echó las gentes de delante de ellos, y repartióles una herencia con cuerdas; é hizo habitar en sus moradas á las tribus de Israel.
56Mas tentaron y enojaron al Dios Altísimo, y no guardaron sus testimonios;
57Sino que se volvieron, y se rebelaron como sus padres: volviéronse como arco engañoso.
58Y enojáronlo con sus altos, y provocáronlo á celo con sus esculturas.
59Oyólo Dios, y enojóse, y en gran manera aborreció á Israel.
60Dejó por tanto el tabernáculo de Silo, la tienda en que habitó entre los hombres;
61Y dió en cautividad su fortaleza, y su gloria en mano del enemigo.
62Entregó también su pueblo á cuchillo, y airóse contra su heredad.
63El fuego devoró sus mancebos, y sus vírgenes no fueron loadas en cantos nupciales.
64Sus sacerdotes cayeron á cuchillo, y sus viudas no lamentaron.
65Entonces despertó el Señor á la manera del que ha dormido, como un valiente que grita excitado del vino:
66E hirió á sus enemigos en las partes posteriores: dióles perpetua afrenta.
67Y desechó el tabernáculo de José, y no escogió la tribu de Ephraim;
68Sino que escogió la tribu de Judá, el monte de Sión, al cual amó.
69Y edificó su santuario á manera de eminencia, como la tierra que cimentó para siempre.
70Y eligió á David su siervo, y tomólo de las majadas de las ovejas:
71De tras las paridas lo trajo, para que apacentase á Jacob su pueblo, y á Israel su heredad.
72Y apacentólos con entereza de su corazón; y pastoreólos con la pericia de sus manos.

1Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
2I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:
3Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
4We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.
5For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:
6That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:
7That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:
8And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.
9The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.
10They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;
11And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.
12Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.
13He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the waters to stand as an heap.
14In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.
15He clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths.
16He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.
17And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness.
18And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust.
19Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?
20Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide flesh for his people?
21Therefore the LORD heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel;
22Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation:
23Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,
24And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven.
25Man did eat angels’ food: he sent them meat to the full.
26He caused an east wind to blow in the heaven: and by his power he brought in the south wind.
27He rained flesh also upon them as dust, and feathered fowls like as the sand of the sea:
28And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations.
29So they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own desire;
30They were not estranged from their lust. But while their meat was yet in their mouths,
31The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel.
32For all this they sinned still, and believed not for his wondrous works.
33Therefore their days did he consume in vanity, and their years in trouble.
34When he slew them, then they sought him: and they returned and enquired early after God.
35And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer.
36Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues.
37For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant.
38But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.
39For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.
40How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!
41Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.
42They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.
43How he had wrought his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Zoan:
44And had turned their rivers into blood; and their floods, that they could not drink.
45He sent divers sorts of flies among them, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.
46He gave also their increase unto the caterpiller, and their labour unto the locust.
47He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycomore trees with frost.
48He gave up their cattle also to the hail, and their flocks to hot thunderbolts.
49He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, by sending evil angels among them.
50He made a way to his anger; he spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence;
51And smote all the firstborn in Egypt; the chief of their strength in the tabernacles of Ham:
52But made his own people to go forth like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.
53And he led them on safely, so that they feared not: but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.
54And he brought them to the border of his sanctuary, even to this mountain, which his right hand had purchased.
55He cast out the heathen also before them, and divided them an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
56Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies:
57But turned back, and dealt unfaithfully like their fathers: they were turned aside like a deceitful bow.
58For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.
59When God heard this, he was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel:
60So that he forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent which he placed among men;
61And delivered his strength into captivity, and his glory into the enemy’s hand.
62He gave his people over also unto the sword; and was wroth with his inheritance.
63The fire consumed their young men; and their maidens were not given to marriage.
64Their priests fell by the sword; and their widows made no lamentation.
65Then the Lord awaked as one out of sleep, and like a mighty man that shouteth by reason of wine.
66And he smote his enemies in the hinder parts: he put them to a perpetual reproach.
67Moreover he refused the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim:
68But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved.
69And he built his sanctuary like high palaces, like the earth which he hath established for ever.
70He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds:
71From following the ewes great with young he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance.
72So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands.
World English Bible
1Hear my teaching, my people. Turn your ears to the words of my mouth.
2I will open my mouth in a parable. I will utter dark sayings of old,
3which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
4We will not hide them from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, his strength, and his wondrous deeds that he has done.
5For he established a covenant in Jacob, and appointed a teaching in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children;
6that the generation to come might know, even the children who should be born; who should arise and tell their children,
7that they might set their hope in God, and not forget God’s deeds, but keep his commandments,
8and might not be as their fathers— a stubborn and rebellious generation, a generation that didn’t make their hearts loyal, whose spirit was not steadfast with God.

20Behold, he struck the rock, so that waters gushed out, and streams overflowed. Can he give bread also? Will he provide meat for his people?”
21Therefore the LORD heard, and was angry. A fire was kindled against Jacob, anger also went up against Israel,
22because they didn’t believe in God, and didn’t trust in his salvation.
23Yet he commanded the skies above, and opened the doors of heaven.
24He rained down manna on them to eat, and gave them food from the sky.
25Man ate the bread of angels. He sent them food to the full.
26He caused the east wind to blow in the sky. By his power he guided the south wind.
27He also rained meat on them as the dust, winged birds as the sand of the seas.
28He let them fall in the middle of their camp, around their habitations.
29So they ate, and were well filled. He gave them their own desire.
30They didn’t turn from their cravings. Their food was yet in their mouths,
31when the anger of God went up against them, killed some of their strongest, and struck down the young men of Israel.
32For all this they still sinned, and didn’t believe in his wondrous works.
33Therefore he consumed their days in vanity, and their years in terror.
34When he killed them, then they inquired after him. They returned and sought God earnestly.
35They remembered that God was their rock, the Most High God, their redeemer.
36But they flattered him with their mouth, and lied to him with their tongue.
37For their heart was not right with him, neither were they faithful in his covenant.
38But he, being merciful, forgave iniquity, and didn’t destroy them. Yes, many times he turned his anger away, and didn’t stir up all his wrath.
39He remembered that they were but flesh, a wind that passes away, and doesn’t come again.
40How often they rebelled against him in the wilderness, and grieved him in the desert!
41They turned again and tempted God, and provoked the Holy One of Israel.
42They didn’t remember his hand, nor the day when he redeemed them from the adversary;
43how he set his signs in Egypt, his wonders in the field of Zoan,
44he turned their rivers into blood, and their streams, so that they could not drink.
45He sent among them swarms of flies, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.
46He also gave their increase to the caterpillar, and their labor to the locust.
47He destroyed their vines with hail, their sycamore fig trees with frost.
48He also gave over their livestock to the hail, and their flocks to hot thunderbolts.
49He threw on them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, indignation, and trouble, and a band of angels of evil.
50He made a path for his anger. He didn’t spare their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence,
51and struck all the firstborn in Egypt, the chief of their strength in the tents of Ham.
52But he led out his own people like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.
53He led them safely, so that they weren’t afraid, but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.
54He brought them to the border of his sanctuary, to this mountain, which his right hand had taken.
55He also drove out the nations before them, allotted them for an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
56Yet they tempted and rebelled against the Most High God, and didn’t keep his testimonies,
57but turned back, and dealt treacherously like their fathers. They were twisted like a deceitful bow.
58For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their engraved images.
59When God heard this, he was angry, and greatly abhorred Israel,
60so that he abandoned the tent of Shiloh, the tent which he placed among men,
61and delivered his strength into captivity, his glory into the adversary’s hand.
62He also gave his people over to the sword, and was angry with his inheritance.
63Fire devoured their young men. Their virgins had no wedding song.
64Their priests fell by the sword, and their widows couldn’t weep.
65Then the Lord awakened as one out of sleep, like a mighty man who shouts by reason of wine.
66He struck his adversaries backward. He put them to a perpetual reproach.
67Moreover he rejected the tent of Joseph, and didn’t choose the tribe of Ephraim,
68But chose the tribe of Judah, Mount Zion which he loved.
69He built his sanctuary like the heights, like the earth which he has established forever.
70He also chose David his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds;
71from following the ewes that have their young, he brought him to be the shepherd of Jacob, his people, and Israel, his inheritance.
72So he was their shepherd according to the integrity of his heart, and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.
