Das Gesetz aber ist nur nebenbei hereingekommen, damit die Übertretung noch größer würde. Wo aber die Sünde zugenommen hatte, da ist die Gnade erst recht überreich hervorgetreten,

La ley empero entró para que el pecado creciese; mas cuando el pecado creció, sobrepujó la gracia;

Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

The law came in that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace abounded more exceedingly,
