Zu der Zeit, als die Richter (in Israel) walteten, kam einmal eine Hungersnot über das Land. Da wanderte ein Mann aus Bethlehem in Juda mit seiner Frau und seinen beiden Söhnen aus, um eine Zeitlang im Gebiet der Moabiter als Fremdling zu leben.
Y ACONTECIÓ en los días que gobernaban los jueces, que hubo hambre en la tierra. Y un varón de Beth-lehem de Judá, fué á peregrinar en los campos de Moab, él y su mujer, y dos hijos suyos.
Now it came to pass in the days when the judges ruled, that there was a famine in the land. And a certain man of Beth-lehem-judah went to sojourn in the country of Moab, he, and his wife, and his two sons.

Der Mann hieß Elimelech, seine Frau Noomi; und seine beiden Söhne hießen Machlon und Kiljon; sie waren Ephrathiter aus Bethlehem in Juda. Sie kamen auch glücklich im Gebiet der Moabiter an und blieben dort.
El nombre de aquel varón era Elimelech, y el de su mujer Noemi; y los nombres de sus dos hijos eran, Mahalón y Chelión, Ephrateos de Beth-lehem de Judá. Llegaron pues á los campos de Moab, y asentaron allí.

Aber Noomi entgegnete: »Kehrt um, liebe Töchter! Warum wollt ihr mit mir gehen? Darf ich etwa noch hoffen, Söhnen das Leben zu geben, daß sie eure Männer werden könnten?
Y Noemi respondió: Volveos, hijas mías: ¿para qué habéis de ir conmigo? ¿tengo yo más hijos en el vientre, que puedan ser vuestros maridos?
And Naomi said, Turn again, my daughters: why will ye go with me? are there yet any more sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands?

Nein, kehrt um, liebe Töchter! Geht heim! Ich bin ja zu alt, um mich nochmals zu verheiraten. Und wenn ich auch dächte, noch Aussicht auf eine neue Ehe zu haben, ja wenn ich noch in dieser Nacht das Weib eines Mannes und sogar Mutter von Söhnen würde:
Volveos, hijas mías, é idos; que yo ya soy vieja para ser para varón. Y aunque dijese: Esperanza tengo; y esta noche fuese con varón, y aun pariese hijos;

wolltet ihr deshalb warten, bis sie erwachsen wären? Wolltet ihr euch deshalb bis dahin einschließen und unverheiratet bleiben? Nein, liebe Töchter! Ich bin ja euretwegen tief betrübt, daß die Hand des HERRN mich so schwer getroffen hat!«
¿Habíais vosotras de esperarlos hasta que fuesen grandes? ¿habías vosotras de quedaros sin casar por amor de ellos? No, hijas mías; que mayor amargura tengo yo que vosotras, pues la mano de Jehová ha salido contra mí.
Would ye tarry for them till they were grown? would ye stay for them from having husbands? nay, my daughters; for it grieveth me much for your sakes that the hand of the LORD is gone out against me.

Da begannen sie von neuem laut zu weinen; dann küßte aber Orpa ihre Schwiegermutter und ging weg, Ruth aber schloß sie fest in ihre Arme.
Mas ellas alzando otra vez su voz, lloraron: y Orpha besó á su suegra, mas Ruth se quedó con ella.
And they lifted up their voice, and wept again: and Orpah kissed her mother in law; but Ruth clave unto her.

Da sagte Noomi zu ihr: »Nachdem nun deine Schwägerin zu ihrem Volk und zu ihrem Gott zurückgekehrt ist, so kehre auch du um und folge deiner Schwägerin!«
Y Noemi dijo: He aquí tu cuñada se ha vuelto á su pueblo y á sus dioses; vuélvete tú tras ella.
And she said, Behold, thy sister in law is gone back unto her people, and unto her gods: return thou after thy sister in law.
She said, “Behold, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her god. Follow your sister-in-law.”
Aber Ruth erwiderte: »Dringe nicht in mich, dich zu verlassen und ohne dich umzukehren; Nein, wohin du gehst, dahin will auch ich gehen, und wo du bleibst, da bleibe ich auch: dein Volk ist mein Volk, und dein Gott ist mein Gott!
Y Ruth respondió: No me ruegues que te deje, y me aparte de ti: porque donde quiera que tú fueres, iré yo; y donde quiera que vivieres, viviré. Tu pueblo será mi pueblo, y tu Dios mi Dios.
And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:
Ruth said, “Don’t urge me to leave you, and to return from following you, for where you go, I will go; and where you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people, and your God my God.
Wo du stirbst, da sterbe ich auch, und da will ich begraben sein. Der HERR mache mit mir, was er will: nur der Tod soll mich von dir scheiden!«
Donde tú murieres, moriré yo, y allí seré sepultada: así me haga Jehová, y así me dé, que sólo la muerte hará separación entre mí y ti.
Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the LORD do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me.

Als Noomi nun sah, daß Ruth fest entschlossen war, mit ihr zu gehen, redete sie nicht weiter auf sie ein.
Y viendo Noemi que estaba tan resuelta á ir con ella, dejó de hablarle.
When she saw that she was stedfastly minded to go with her, then she left speaking unto her.

So gingen denn die beiden weiter, bis sie nach Bethlehem gelangten. Als sie aber dort ankamen, geriet der ganze Ort ihretwegen in Aufregung, und alle Frauen sagten: »Ist das nicht Noomi?«
Anduvieron pues ellas dos hasta que llegaron á Beth-lehem: y aconteció que entrando en Beth-lehem, toda la ciudad se conmovió por razón de ellas, y decían: ¿No es ésta Noemi?
So they two went until they came to Beth-lehem. And it came to pass, when they were come to Beth-lehem, that all the city was moved about them, and they said, Is this Naomi?
So they both went until they came to Bethlehem. When they had come to Bethlehem, all the city was excited about them, and they asked, “Is this Naomi?”
Da antwortete sie ihnen: »Nennt mich nicht Noomi, nennt mich lieber Mara; denn der Allmächtige hat mich viel Bitteres erleben lassen.
Y ella les respondía: No me llaméis Noemi, sino llamadme Mara: porque en grande amargura me ha puesto el Todopoderoso.
And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me.
She said to them, “Don’t call me Naomi. Call me Mara, for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me.
Voll bin ich weggegangen, und leer hat mich der HERR zurückkehren lassen. Warum nennt ihr mich Noomi? Hat sich doch der HERR selbst gegen mich erklärt und der Allmächtige mich in Leid gestürzt!«
Yo me fuí llena, mas vacía me ha vuelto Jehová. ¿Por qué me llamaréis Noemi, ya que Jehová ha dado testimonio contra mí, y el Todopoderoso me ha afligido?
I went out full, and the LORD hath brought me home again empty: why then call ye me Naomi, seeing the LORD hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me?

So kehrte Noomi und mit ihr Ruth, ihre Schwiegertochter, die Moabitin, aus dem Lande der Moabiter heim, und zwar kamen sie in Bethlehem an beim Beginn der Gerstenernte.
Así volvió Noemi y Ruth Moabita su nuera con ella; volvió de los campos de Moab, y llegaron á Beth-lehem en el principio de la siega de las cebadas.
So Naomi returned, and Ruth the Moabitess, her daughter in law, with her, which returned out of the country of Moab: and they came to Beth-lehem in the beginning of barley harvest.
