1Und Noomi hatte einen Verwandten ihres Mannes, einen vermögenden Mann, aus dem Geschlecht Elimelechs, und sein Name war Boas.
2Und Ruth, die Moabitin, sprach zu Noomi: Laß mich doch aufs Feld gehen und unter den Ähren lesen hinter dem her, in dessen Augen ich Gnade finden werde. Und sie sprach zu ihr: Gehe hin, meine Tochter.
3Und sie ging hin und kam und las auf dem Felde hinter den Schnittern her; und sie traf zufällig das Feldstück des Boas, der aus dem Geschlecht Elimelechs war.
4Und siehe, Boas kam von Bethlehem und sprach zu den Schnittern: Jehova sei mit euch! Und sie sprachen zu ihm: Jehova segne dich!
5Und Boas sprach zu seinem Knechte, der über die Schnitter bestellt war: Wem gehört dieses Mädchen?
6Und der Knecht, der über die Schnitter bestellt war, antwortete und sprach: Es ist ein moabitisches Mädchen, das mit Noomi aus den Gefilden Moabs zurückgekehrt ist;
7und sie sprach: Laß mich doch auflesen und unter den Garben sammeln hinter den Schnittern her! Und so ist die gekommen und dageblieben vom Morgen an bis jetzt; was sie im Hause gesessen hat, ist wenig.
8Und Boas sprach zu Ruth: Hörst du, meine Tochter? Gehe nicht, um auf einem anderen Felde aufzulesen, und gehe auch nicht von hinnen, sondern halte dich hier zu meinen Mägden.
9Deine Augen seien auf das Feld gerichtet, welches man schneidet, und gehe hinter ihnen her; habe ich nicht den Knaben geboten, dich nicht anzutasten? Und wenn dich dürstet, so gehe zu den Gefäßen und trinke von dem, was die Knaben schöpfen.
10Da fiel sie auf ihr Angesicht und beugte sich zur Erde nieder und sprach zu ihm: Warum habe ich Gnade gefunden in deinen Augen, daß du mich beachtest, da ich doch eine Fremde bin?
11Und Boas antwortete und sprach zu ihr: Es ist mir alles wohl berichtet worden, was du an deiner Schwiegermutter getan hast nach dem Tode deines Mannes, indem du deinen Vater und deine Mutter und das Land deiner Geburt verlassen hast und zu einem Volke gezogen bist, das du früher nicht kanntest.
12Jehova vergelte dir dein Tun, und voll sei dein Lohn von Jehova, dem Gott Israels, unter dessen Flügeln Zuflucht zu suchen du gekommen bist!
13Und sie sprach: Möge ich Gnade finden in deinen Augen, mein Herr! Denn du hast mich getröstet und hast zum Herzen deiner Magd geredet, und doch bin ich nicht wie eine deiner Mägde.
14Und Boas sprach zu ihr zur Zeit des Essens: Tritt hierher, und iß von dem Brote und tunke deinen Bissen in den Essig. Da setzte sie sich zur Seite der Schnitter; und er reichte ihr geröstete Körner, und sie aß und wurde satt und ließ übrig.
15Und sie stand auf, um aufzulesen; und Boas gebot seinen Knaben und sprach: Auch zwischen den Garben mag sie auflesen, und ihr sollt sie nicht beschämen;
16und auch sollt ihr selbst aus den Bündeln Ähren für sie herausziehen und sie liegen lassen, damit sie sie auflese, und sollt sie nicht schelten.
17Und sie las auf dem Felde auf bis zum Abend, und sie schlug aus, was sie aufgelesen hatte, und es war bei einem Epha Gerste.
18Und sie nahm es auf und kam in die Stadt, und ihre Schwiegermutter sah, was sie aufgelesen hatte; und sie zog hervor und gab ihr, was sie übriggelassen, nachdem sie sich gesättigt hatte.
19Da sprach ihre Schwiegermutter zu ihr: Wo hast du heute aufgelesen, und wo hast du gearbeitet? Gesegnet sei, der dich beachtet hat! Und sie tat ihrer Schwiegermutter kund, bei wem sie gearbeitet hatte, und sprach: Der Name des Mannes, bei dem ich heute gearbeitet habe, ist Boas.
20Da sprach Noomi zu ihrer Schwiegertochter: Gesegnet sei er von Jehova, dessen Güte nicht abgelassen hat von den Lebenden und von den Toten! Und Noomi sprach zu ihr: Der Mann ist uns nahe verwandt, er ist einer von unseren Blutsverwandten.
21Und Ruth, die Moabitin, sprach: Er hat auch zu mir gesagt: Du sollst dich zu meinen Leuten halten, bis sie meine ganze Ernte beendigt haben.
22Und Noomi sprach zu Ruth, ihrer Schwiegertochter: Es ist gut, meine Tochter, daß du mit seinen Mägden ausgehst, daß man dich nicht anfalle auf einem anderen Felde.
23Und so hielt sie sich zu den Mägden des Boas, um aufzulesen, bis die Gerstenernte und die Weizenernte beendigt waren. Und sie wohnte bei ihrer Schwiegermutter.

1Y TENÍA Noemi un pariente de su marido, varón poderoso y de hecho, de la familia de Elimelech, el cual se llamaba Booz.
2Y Ruth la Moabita dijo á Noemi: Ruégote que me dejes ir al campo, y cogeré espigas en pos de aquel á cuyos ojos hallare gracia. Y ella le respondió: Ve, hija mía.
3Fué pues, y llegando, espigó en el campo en pos de los segadores: y aconteció por ventura, que la suerte del campo era de Booz, el cual era de la parentela de Elimelech.
4Y he aquí que Booz vino de Beth-lehem, y dijo á los segadores: Jehová sea con vosotros. Y ellos respondieron: Jehová te bendiga.
5Y Booz dijo á su criado el sobrestante de los segadores: ¿Cúya es esta moza?
6Y el criado, sobrestante de los segadores, respondió y dijo: Es la moza de Moab, que volvió con Noemi de los campos de Moab;
7Y ha dicho: Ruégote que me dejes coger y juntar tras los segadores entre las gavillas: entró pues, y está desde por la mañana hasta ahora, menos un poco que se detuvo en casa.
8Entonces Booz dijo á Ruth: Oye, hija mía, no vayas á espigar á otro campo, ni pases de aquí: y aquí estarás con mis mozas.
9Mira bien al campo que segaren, y síguelas: porque yo he mandado á los mozos que no te toquen. Y si tuvieres sed, ve á los vasos, y bebe del agua que sacaren los mozos.
10Ella entonces bajando su rostro inclinóse á tierra, y díjole: ¿Por qué he hallado gracia en tus ojos para que tú me reconozcas, siendo yo extranjera?
11Y respondiendo Booz, díjole: Por cierto se me ha declarado todo lo que has hecho con tu suegra después de la muerte de tu marido, y que dejando á tu padre y á tu madre y la tierra donde naciste, has venido á pueblo que no conociste antes.
12Jehová galardone tu obra, y tu remuneración sea llena por Jehová Dios de Israel, que has venido para cubrirte debajo de sus alas.
13Y ella dijo: Señor mío, halle yo gracia delante de tus ojos; porque me has consolado, y porque has hablado al corazón de tu sierva, no siendo yo como una de tus criadas.
14Y Booz le dijo á la hora de comer: Allégate aquí, y come del pan, y moja tu bocado en el vinagre. Y sentóse ella junto á los segadores, y él le dió del potaje, y comió hasta que se hartó y le sobró.
15Levantóse luego para espigar. Y Booz mandó á sus criados, diciendo: Coja también espigas entre las gavillas, y no la avergoncéis;
16Antes echaréis á sabiendas de los manojos, y la dejaréis que coja, y no la reprendáis.
17Y espigó en el campo hasta la tarde, y desgranó lo que había cogido, y fué como un epha de cebada.
18Y tomólo, y vínose á la ciudad; y su suegra vió lo que había cogido. Sacó también luego lo que le había sobrado después de harta, y dióselo.
19Y díjole su suegra: ¿Dónde has espigado hoy? ¿y dónde has trabajado? bendito sea el que te ha reconocido. Y ella declaró á su suegra lo que le había acontecido con aquél, y dijo: El nombre del varón con quien hoy he trabajado es Booz.
20Y dijo Noemi á su nuera: Sea él bendito de Jehová, pues que no ha rehusado á los vivos la benevolencia que tuvo para con los finados. Díjole después Noemi: Nuestro pariente es aquel varón, y de nuestros redentores es.
21Y Ruth Moabita dijo: A más de esto me ha dicho: Júntate con mis criados, hasta que hayan acabado toda mi siega.
22Y Noemi respondió á Ruth su nuera: Mejor es, hija mía, que salgas con sus criadas, que no que te encuentren en otro campo.
23Estuvo pues junta con las mozas de Booz espigando, hasta que la siega de las cebadas y la de los trigos fué acabada; mas con su suegra habitó.

1And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband’s, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech; and his name was Boaz.
2And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi, Let me now go to the field, and glean ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find grace. And she said unto her, Go, my daughter.
3And she went, and came, and gleaned in the field after the reapers: and her hap was to light on a part of the field belonging unto Boaz, who was of the kindred of Elimelech.
4And, behold, Boaz came from Beth-lehem, and said unto the reapers, The LORD be with you. And they answered him, The LORD bless thee.
5Then said Boaz unto his servant that was set over the reapers, Whose damsel is this?
6And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said, It is the Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab:
7And she said, I pray you, let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves: so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, that she tarried a little in the house.
8Then said Boaz unto Ruth, Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither go from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens:
9Let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? and when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn.
10Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, Why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger?
11And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore.
12The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust.
13Then she said, Let me find favour in thy sight, my lord; for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken friendly unto thine handmaid, though I be not like unto one of thine handmaidens.
14And Boaz said unto her, At mealtime come thou hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar. And she sat beside the reapers: and he reached her parched corn, and she did eat, and was sufficed, and left.
15And when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and reproach her not:
16And let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her, and leave them, that she may glean them, and rebuke her not.
17So she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned: and it was about an ephah of barley.
18And she took it up, and went into the city: and her mother in law saw what she had gleaned: and she brought forth, and gave to her that she had reserved after she was sufficed.
19And her mother in law said unto her, Where hast thou gleaned to day? and where wroughtest thou? blessed be he that did take knowledge of thee. And she shewed her mother in law with whom she had wrought, and said, The man’s name with whom I wrought to day is Boaz.
20And Naomi said unto her daughter in law, Blessed be he of the LORD, who hath not left off his kindness to the living and to the dead. And Naomi said unto her, The man is near of kin unto us, one of our next kinsmen.
21And Ruth the Moabitess said, He said unto me also, Thou shalt keep fast by my young men, until they have ended all my harvest.
22And Naomi said unto Ruth her daughter in law, It is good, my daughter, that thou go out with his maidens, that they meet thee not in any other field.
23So she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz to glean unto the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and dwelt with her mother in law.
World English Bible
1Naomi had a relative of her husband’s, a mighty man of wealth, of the family of Elimelech, and his name was Boaz.
2Ruth the Moabitess said to Naomi, “Let me now go to the field, and glean among the ears of grain after him in whose sight I find favor.” She said to her, “Go, my daughter.”
3She went, and came and gleaned in the field after the reapers; and she happened to come to the portion of the field belonging to Boaz, who was of the family of Elimelech.
4Behold, Boaz came from Bethlehem, and said to the reapers, “May the LORD be with you.” They answered him, “May the LORD bless you.”
5Then Boaz said to his servant who was set over the reapers, “Whose young lady is this?”
6The servant who was set over the reapers answered, “It is the Moabite lady who came back with Naomi out of the country of Moab.
7She said, ‘Please let me glean and gather after the reapers among the sheaves.’ So she came, and has continued even from the morning until now, except that she rested a little in the house.”
8Then Boaz said to Ruth, “Listen, my daughter. Don’t go to glean in another field, and don’t go from here, but stay here close to my maidens.
9Let your eyes be on the field that they reap, and go after them. Haven’t I commanded the young men not to touch you? When you are thirsty, go to the vessels, and drink from that which the young men have drawn.”
10Then she fell on her face and bowed herself to the ground, and said to him, “Why have I found favor in your sight, that you should take knowledge of me, since I am a foreigner?”
11Boaz answered her, “I have been told all about what you have done for your mother-in-law since the death of your husband, and how you have left your father, your mother, and the land of your birth, and have come to a people that you didn’t know before.
12May the LORD repay your work, and a full reward be given to you from the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.”
13Then she said, “Let me find favor in your sight, my lord, because you have comforted me, and because you have spoken kindly to your servant, though I am not as one of your servants.”
14At meal time Boaz said to her, “Come here, and eat some bread, and dip your morsel in the vinegar.” She sat beside the reapers, and they passed her parched grain. She ate, was satisfied, and left some of it.
15When she had risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, “Let her glean even among the sheaves, and don’t reproach her.
16Also pull out some for her from the bundles, and leave it. Let her glean, and don’t rebuke her.”
17So she gleaned in the field until evening; and she beat out that which she had gleaned, and it was about an ephah of barley.
18She took it up, and went into the city. Then her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned; and she brought out and gave to her that which she had left after she had enough.
19Her mother-in-law said to her, “Where have you gleaned today? Where have you worked? Blessed be he who noticed you.” She told her mother-in-law with whom she had worked, “The man’s name with whom I worked today is Boaz.”
20Naomi said to her daughter-in-law, “May he be blessed by the LORD, who has not abandoned his kindness to the living and to the dead.” Naomi said to her, “The man is a close relative to us, one of our near kinsmen.”
21Ruth the Moabitess said, “Yes, he said to me, ‘You shall stay close to my young men until they have finished all my harvest.’”
22Naomi said to Ruth her daughter-in-law, “It is good, my daughter, that you go out with his maidens, and that they not harm you in any other field.”
23So she stayed close to the maidens of Boaz, to glean to the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and she lived with her mother-in-law.
