1Un tiempo más tarde, Noemí le dijo a Rut: “Hija mía, ¿no crees que debería encontrarte un marido y un buen hogar?
2No ignores que Booz, con cuyas mujeres trabajaste, está muy emparentado con nosotros. Esta noche estará ocupado aventando el grano en la era.
3Báñate, ponte perfume, ponte tu mejor ropa y baja a la era, pero que no te reconozca. Cuando haya terminado de comer y beber,
4observa dónde se acuesta. Entonces ve y descubre sus pies y acuéstate. Entonces él te dirá lo que tienes que hacer”.
5“Haré todo lo que me has dicho”, dijo Rut.
6Bajó a la era e hizo lo que su suegra le había dicho.
7Cuando Booz terminó de comer y beber, y se sintió satisfecho, fue a acostarse junto al montón de grano. Rut se acercó tranquilamente a él, le descubrió los pies y se acostó.
8Hacia la medianoche, Booz se despertó de repente. Al inclinarse hacia delante, se sorprendió al ver a una mujer tendida a sus pies.
9“¿Quién eres?” , preguntó. “Soy Rut, tu sierva”, respondió ella. “Por favor, extiende la esquina de tu manto sobre mí, porque eres el redentor de mi familia”.
10“Que el Señor te bendiga, hija mía”, dijo él. “Estás mostrando aún más lealtad y amor a la familia que antes. No has ido a buscar a un hombre más joven, sea cual sea su condición social.
11Así que no te preocupes, hija mía. Haré todo lo que me pidas; todo el pueblo sabe que eres una mujer de buen carácter.
12Sin embargo, aunque soy uno de los redentores de tu familia, hay uno que está más emparentado que yo.
13Quédate aquí esta noche, y por la mañana si él quiere redimirte, pues bien, que lo haga. Pero si no lo hace, te prometo, en nombre del Señor vivo, que te redimiré. Acuéstate aquí hasta la mañana”.
14Así que Rut se acostó a sus pies hasta la mañana. Luego se levantó antes de que hubiera luz suficiente para reconocer a alguien, porque Booz le había dicho: “Nadie debe saber que una mujer vino aquí a la era”.
15También le dijo: “Tráeme el manto que llevas puesto y extiéndelo”. Ella se lo tendió y él echó en él seis medidas de cebada en él. La ayudó a ponérselo a la espalda y ellaregresó a la ciudad.
16Rut fue a ver a su suegra, que le preguntó: “¿Cómo te ha ido, hija mía?” Entonces Rut le contó todo lo que Booz había hecho por ella.
17“Y también me dio estas seis medidas de cebada”, añadió. “Me dijo: ‘No debes ir a casa de tu suegra con las manos vacías’”.
18Noemí dijo a Rut: “Espera con paciencia, hija mía, hasta que sepas cómo se resuelve todo. Booz no descansará hasta tenerlo resuelto hoy”.

1Y DÍJOLE su suegra Noemi: Hija mía, ¿no te tengo de buscar descanso, que te sea bueno?
2¿No es Booz nuestro pariente, con cuyas mozas tú has estado? He aquí que él avienta esta noche la parva de las cebadas.
3Te lavarás pues, y te ungirás, y vistiéndote tus vestidos, pasarás á la era; mas no te darás á conocer al varón hasta que él haya acabado de comer y de beber.
4Y cuando él se acostare, repara tú el lugar donde él se acostará, é irás, y descubrirás los pies, y te acostarás allí; y él te dirá lo que hayas de hacer.
5Y le respondió: Haré todo lo que tú me mandares.
6Descendió pues á la era, é hizo todo lo que su suegra le había mandado.
7Y como Booz hubo comido y bebido, y su corazón estuvo contento, retiróse á dormir á un lado del montón. Entonces ella vino calladamente, y descubrió los pies, y acostóse.
8Y aconteció, que á la media noche se estremeció aquel hombre, y palpó: y he aquí, la mujer que estaba acostada á sus pies.
9Entonces él dijo: ¿Quién eres? Y ella respondió: Yo soy Ruth tu sierva: extiende el borde de tu capa sobre tu sierva, por cuanto eres pariente cercano.
10Y él dijo: Bendita seas tú de Jehová, hija mía; que has hecho mejor tu postrera gracia que la primera, no yendo tras los mancebos, sean pobres ó ricos.
11Ahora pues, no temas, hija mía: yo haré contigo lo que tú dijeres, pues que toda la puerta de mi pueblo sabe que eres mujer virtuosa.
12Y ahora, aunque es cierto que yo soy pariente cercano, con todo eso hay pariente más cercano que yo.
13Reposa esta noche, y cuando sea de día, si él te redimiere, bien, redímate; mas si él no te quisiere redimir, yo te redimiré, vive Jehová. Descansa pues hasta la mañana.
14Y después que reposó á sus pies hasta la mañana, levantóse, antes que nadie pudiese conocer á otro. Y él dijo: No se sepa que haya venido mujer á la era.
15Después le dijo: Llega el lienzo que traes sobre ti, y ten de él. Y teniéndolo ella, él midió seis medidas de cebada, y púsoselas á cuestas: y vínose ella á la ciudad.
16Así que vino á su suegra, ésta le dijo: ¿Qué pues, hija mía? Y declaróle ella todo lo que con aquel varón le había acontecido.
17Y dijo: Estas seis medidas de cebada me dió, diciéndome: Porque no vayas vacía á tu suegra.
18Entonces Noemi dijo: Reposa, hija mía, hasta que sepas cómo cae la cosa: porque aquel hombre no parará hasta que hoy concluya el negocio.

1Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?
2And now is not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to night in the threshingfloor.
3Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the floor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking.
4And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.
5And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do.
6And she went down unto the floor, and did according to all that her mother in law bade her.
7And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down.
8And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.
9And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman.
10And he said, Blessed be thou of the LORD, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich.
11And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.
12And now it is true that I am thy near kinsman: howbeit there is a kinsman nearer than I.
13Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman’s part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as the LORD liveth: lie down until the morning.
14And she lay at his feet until the morning: and she rose up before one could know another. And he said, Let it not be known that a woman came into the floor.
15Also he said, Bring the vail that thou hast upon thee, and hold it. And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her: and she went into the city.
16And when she came to her mother in law, she said, Who art thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her.
17And she said, These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said to me, Go not empty unto thy mother in law.
18Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.
World English Bible
1Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, “My daughter, shall I not seek rest for you, that it may be well with you?
2Now isn’t Boaz our kinsman, with whose maidens you were? Behold, he will be winnowing barley tonight on the threshing floor.
3Therefore wash yourself, anoint yourself, get dressed, and go down to the threshing floor; but don’t make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking.
4It shall be, when he lies down, that you shall note the place where he is lying. Then you shall go in, uncover his feet, and lie down. Then he will tell you what to do.”
5She said to her, “All that you say, I will do.”
6She went down to the threshing floor, and did everything that her mother-in-law told her.
7When Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of grain. She came softly, uncovered his feet, and lay down.
8At midnight, the man was startled and turned himself; and behold, a woman lay at his feet.
9He said, “Who are you?” She answered, “I am Ruth your servant. Therefore spread the corner of your garment over your servant; for you are a near kinsman.”
10He said, “You are blessed by the LORD, my daughter. You have shown more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, because you didn’t follow young men, whether poor or rich.
11Now, my daughter, don’t be afraid. I will do to you all that you say; for all the city of my people knows that you are a worthy woman.
12Now it is true that I am a near kinsman. However, there is a kinsman nearer than I.
13Stay this night, and in the morning, if he will perform for you the part of a kinsman, good. Let him do the kinsman’s duty. But if he will not do the duty of a kinsman for you, then I will do the duty of a kinsman for you, as the LORD lives. Lie down until the morning.”
14She lay at his feet until the morning, then she rose up before one could discern another. For he said, “Let it not be known that the woman came to the threshing floor.”
15He said, “Bring the mantle that is on you, and hold it.” She held it; and he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her; then he went into the city.
16When she came to her mother-in-law, she said, “How did it go, my daughter?” She told her all that the man had done for her.
17She said, “He gave me these six measures of barley; for he said, ‘Don’t go empty to your mother-in-law.’”
18Then she said, “Wait, my daughter, until you know what will happen; for the man will not rest until he has settled this today.”
