Alcé, pues, la aldaba de mi puerta para que entrase mi amado; pero él se había ya retirado, y seguido adelante. Mi alma había quedado desmayada al eco de su voz; lo busqué, mas no lo hallé; lo llamé a voces, y no me respondió.

Mi amado metió su mano por el agujero, y mis entrañas se conmovieron dentro de mí.

My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door, and my bowels were moved for him.

My beloved thrust his hand in through the latch opening. My heart pounded for him.
