Pablo, siervo de Dios y apóstol de Jesucristo, llamado para llevar a los elegidos de Dios a la fe y al pleno conocimiento de la verdad que es conforme a la piedad,

Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;

con la esperanza de la vida eterna, la cual Dios, que no miente, prometió desde antes del principio de los tiempos,

In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

y a su debido tiempo reveló su palabra mediante la predicación que se me confió por mandato de Dios nuestro Salvador;

Y manifestó á sus tiempos su palabra por la predicación, que me es á mí encomendada por mandamiento de nuestro Salvador Dios;

But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

but in his own time revealed his word in the message with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior,

a Tito, mi verdadero hijo en la fe que compartimos: Gracia, misericordia y paz de parte de Dios Padre y de Cristo Jesús nuestro Salvador.

A Tito, verdadero hijo en la común fe: Gracia, misericordia, y paz de Dios Padre, y del Señor Jesucristo Salvador nuestro.

To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

Te dejé en Creta por esta razón: para que pusieras en orden lo que faltaba y nombraras ancianos en cada ciudad, tal como te ordené.

Por esta causa te dejé en Creta, para que corrigieses lo que falta, y pusieses ancianos por las villas, así como yo te mandé:

For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

I left you in Crete for this reason, that you would set in order the things that were lacking and appoint elders in every city, as I directed you—

El anciano debe ser intachable, esposo de una sola mujer; sus hijos deben ser creyentes, y no estar acusados de mala conducta ni ser rebeldes.

El que fuere sin crimen, marido de una mujer, que tenga hijos fieles que no estén acusados de disolución, ó contumaces.

If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

if anyone is blameless, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, who are not accused of loose or unruly behavior.

Porque el obispo, como encargado de la obra de Dios, debe ser intachable: no arrogante, no de mal genio, no dado a la embriaguez, no violento ni codicioso de ganancias deshonestas.

Porque es menester que el obispo sea sin crimen, como dispensador de Dios; no soberbio, no iracundo, no amador del vino, no heridor, no codicioso de torpes ganancias;

For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

For the overseer must be blameless, as God’s steward, not self-pleasing, not easily angered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for dishonest gain;

Al contrario, debe ser hospitalario, amante del bien, sensato, justo, santo y disciplinado.

Sino hospedador, amador de lo bueno, templado, justo, santo, continente;

But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;

but given to hospitality, a lover of good, sober minded, fair, holy, self-controlled,

Debe apegarse a la palabra fiel, según la enseñanza recibida, para que también pueda animar a otros con la sana doctrina y convencer a los que se oponen.

Retenedor de la fiel palabra que es conforme á la doctrina: para que también pueda exhortar con sana doctrina, y convencer á los que contradijeren.

Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

holding to the faithful word which is according to the teaching, that he may be able to exhort in the sound doctrine, and to convict those who contradict him.

Porque hay muchos rebeldes, charlatanes y engañadores, especialmente los que son de la circuncisión,

Porque hay aún muchos contumaces, habladores de vanidades, y engañadores de las almas, mayormente los que son de la circuncisión,

For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:

a quienes es necesario taparles la boca; pues están arruinando familias enteras, enseñando cosas que no deben para obtener ganancias deshonestas.

A los cuales es preciso tapar la boca; que trastornan casas enteras; enseñando lo que no conviene, por torpe ganancia.

Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.

Uno de ellos, su propio profeta, dijo: “Los cretenses son siempre mentirosos, malas bestias, glotones perezosos”.

Dijo uno de ellos, propio profeta de ellos: Los Cretenses, siempre mentirosos, malas bestias, vientres perezosos.

One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.

Este testimonio es verdadero. Por eso, repréndelos con severidad, para que sean sanos en la fe,

This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

y no presten atención a las fábulas judías ni a los mandamientos de hombres que se apartan de la verdad.

No atendiendo á fábulas judaicas, y á mandamientos de hombres que se apartan de la verdad.

Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

not paying attention to Jewish fables and commandments of men who turn away from the truth.

Para los puros, todas las cosas son puras; pero para los corruptos e incrédulos no hay nada puro, porque tanto su mente como su conciencia están corrompidas.

Todas las cosas son limpias á los limpios; mas á los contaminados é infieles nada es limpio: antes su alma y conciencia están contaminadas.

Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.

Afirman conocer a Dios, pero con sus acciones lo niegan; son abominables, desobedientes e incapaces de hacer nada bueno.

Profésanse conocer á Dios; mas con los hechos lo niegan, siendo abominables y rebeldes, reprobados para toda buena obra.

They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

They profess that they know God, but by their deeds they deny him, being abominable, disobedient, and unfit for any good work.
