Paulus, Knecht Gottes, aber Apostel Jesu Christi, nach dem Glauben der Auserwählten Gottes und nach der Erkenntnis der Wahrheit, die nach der Gottseligkeit ist,

PABLO, siervo de Dios, y apóstol de Jesucristo, según la fe de los escogidos de Dios, y el conocimiento de la verdad que es según la piedad,

Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, according to the faith of God’s elect, and the acknowledging of the truth which is after godliness;

in der Hoffnung des ewigen Lebens, das Gott, der nicht lügen kann, verheißen hat vor ewigen Zeiten;

Para la esperanza de la vida eterna, la cual Dios, que no puede mentir, prometió antes de los tiempos de los siglos,

In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

zu seiner Zeit aber sein Wort offenbart hat durch die Predigt, die mir anvertraut worden ist nach Befehl unseres Heiland-Gottes –

Y manifestó á sus tiempos su palabra por la predicación, que me es á mí encomendada por mandamiento de nuestro Salvador Dios;

But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;

but in his own time revealed his word in the message with which I was entrusted according to the commandment of God our Savior,

Titus, meinem echten Kind nach unserem gemeinschaftlichen Glauben: Gnade und Friede von Gott, dem Vater, und Christus Jesus, unserem Heiland!

A Tito, verdadero hijo en la común fe: Gracia, misericordia, y paz de Dios Padre, y del Señor Jesucristo Salvador nuestro.

To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

Deswegen ließ ich dich in Kreta, dass du, was noch mangelte, in Ordnung bringen und in jeder Stadt Älteste anstellen möchtest, wie ich dir geboten hatte:

Por esta causa te dejé en Creta, para que corrigieses lo que falta, y pusieses ancianos por las villas, así como yo te mandé:

For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

I left you in Crete for this reason, that you would set in order the things that were lacking and appoint elders in every city, as I directed you—

Wenn jemand untadelig ist, der Mann einer Frau, der gläubige Kinder hat, die nicht eines ausschweifenden Lebens beschuldigt oder zügellos sind.

El que fuere sin crimen, marido de una mujer, que tenga hijos fieles que no estén acusados de disolución, ó contumaces.

If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

Denn der Aufseher muss untadelig sein als Gottes Verwalter, nicht eigenmächtig, nicht zornmütig, nicht dem Wein ergeben, nicht ein Schläger, nicht schändlichem Gewinn nachgehend,

Porque es menester que el obispo sea sin crimen, como dispensador de Dios; no soberbio, no iracundo, no amador del vino, no heridor, no codicioso de torpes ganancias;

For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

For the overseer must be blameless, as God’s steward, not self-pleasing, not easily angered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for dishonest gain;

sondern gastfrei, das Gute liebend, besonnen, gerecht, fromm, enthaltsam,

Sino hospedador, amador de lo bueno, templado, justo, santo, continente;

But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;

but given to hospitality, a lover of good, sober minded, fair, holy, self-controlled,

anhangend dem zuverlässigen Wort nach der Lehre, damit er fähig sei, sowohl mit der gesunden Lehre zu ermahnen als auch die Widersprechenden zu überführen.

Retenedor de la fiel palabra que es conforme á la doctrina: para que también pueda exhortar con sana doctrina, y convencer á los que contradijeren.

Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

holding to the faithful word which is according to the teaching, that he may be able to exhort in the sound doctrine, and to convict those who contradict him.

Denn es gibt viele zügellose Schwätzer und Betrüger, besonders die aus der Beschneidung,

Porque hay aún muchos contumaces, habladores de vanidades, y engañadores de las almas, mayormente los que son de la circuncisión,

For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision:

denen man den Mund stopfen muss, die ganze Häuser umkehren, indem sie um schändlichen Gewinnes willen lehren was sich nicht gehört.

A los cuales es preciso tapar la boca; que trastornan casas enteras; enseñando lo que no conviene, por torpe ganancia.

Whose mouths must be stopped, who subvert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.

Es hat einer aus ihnen, ihr eigener Prophet, gesagt: „Kreter sind immer Lügner, böse, wilde Tiere, faule Bäuche.“

Dijo uno de ellos, propio profeta de ellos: Los Cretenses, siempre mentirosos, malas bestias, vientres perezosos.

One of themselves, even a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians are alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies.

Dieses Zeugnis ist wahr; um dieser Ursache willen weise sie streng zurecht, damit sie gesund seien im Glauben

Este testimonio es verdadero: por tanto, repréndelos duramente, para que sean sanos en la fe,

This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;

und nicht achten auf jüdische Fabeln und Gebote von Menschen, die sich von der Wahrheit abwenden.

No atendiendo á fábulas judaicas, y á mandamientos de hombres que se apartan de la verdad.

Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth.

not paying attention to Jewish fables and commandments of men who turn away from the truth.

Den Reinen ist alles rein; den Befleckten aber und Ungläubigen ist nichts rein, sondern befleckt ist sowohl ihre Gesinnung als auch ihr Gewissen.

Todas las cosas son limpias á los limpios; mas á los contaminados é infieles nada es limpio: antes su alma y conciencia están contaminadas.

Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.

To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving, nothing is pure; but both their mind and their conscience are defiled.

Sie geben vor, Gott zu kennen, aber in den Werken verleugnen sie ihn und sind gräulich und ungehorsam und zu jedem guten Werk unbewährt.

Profésanse conocer á Dios; mas con los hechos lo niegan, siendo abominables y rebeldes, reprobados para toda buena obra.

They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.
